When do you think we will have news about Smash Bros Ultimate?

Probably in the next general Direct, which I'm guessing will be anywhere in-between July and September.

2006 Modern (Chibi-Robo) or 2016 Modern (Gen 7 and Xen. X a year prior)? I don't intend to patronize but there's a few character who can blend in with both fan favorites and modern characters, Shovel Knight is easily one of them.

Yeah... that makes the idea a bit iffy, because a lot of people can fit in the post-2006 Years.

wonder if they're gonna try a demo again and, if so, whether they're gonna try to pull the bull**** the did with for 3ds with that ****ing hilarious 30-time limit. hard rl timer would result in ****ing riots, no demo or bb-only (for whatever ****ing reason) and people stew and go ****ing nuts just like the information starve leading to e3.

Yeah, after getting 3 pokemon added in this game already and a limited number of potential roster slots available I'd rather they just skip out on a new pokemon this time around, 9 characters seems like enough. it's not like gen 7 really had a singular obvious standout pokemon anyway, though if decidueye got in I wouldn't be upset

I mean, we still don't know other multiplayer modes besides 8-player, singleplayer modes, minigames, things like stage builder, trophy galleries, other kinds of collectibles, how online works, what modes does online have, and lots more besides just the characters.

Muh Giygas/ Giegue.

If we get Giegue we should also get a Devil's machine stage, his theme from earthbound, and the 8 melodies remix from Mother 1.

Agumon debuted as a V-Pet.
It was marketed as the boy version of tamagotchi.
Tamagotchi's creator won a nobel prize in economics for it.

Agumon could be a highly unique and original character with pet care type mechanics.
There's ideas for it in the Agumon support thread.

V-Pets have become a massive gaming genre, not yet really explored in Smash.

Tamagotchi/ Vpets/ digimon have made it's impact on gaming.
And Bandai Namco is at the helm...

I hope we get Agumon.

I think a healthy mix of fan favourites and new characters is the best thing, say we get Ridley, K Rool and Isaac but we also get Inkling, Elma and Bandana Dee.

Add Decidueye to that and we've got a deal.

I'd be down for Shovel Knight. That game was probably one of the best platformers I've ever played, so I'd be hyped for him.

I don't know what other fans would think of him, though. A lot of Smash fans have a...passionate distaste for indies, for lack of a better term. Actually, now that I think about it, a LOT of people online seem to hate indie games in general, which I always thought was weird but hey, to each their own, I guess.

I actually feel like a lot of people embrace the "Nindie" scene, Nintendo and indies together work really well. And I recall characters like Shovel Knight and Shantae being tossed around a lot during the ballot. Though that was then and this is now. The Smash fandom is really weird and moody in the sense that they (us?) love/hate anything and everything on the fly, so I don't know what the reaction would really be.

I'd totally take Shovel Knight or Shantae though.

Some people predicted a Great Cave Offensive or Great Maze (SSE stage) mode for that type of stuff. That sounds interesting, but I would like at least some unique levels for each series rather than basic plains. It's like the design of Adventure Mode with the goal to unlock or meet certain requirements? Maybe I'll make a fleshed out idea myself in the future

They made a 35 minute video for Smash Wii U when 3DS was already out. If they can pull that off, I wouldn't be surprised if they pull an entire half hour Smash Direct in October/November.

I’d say Wonder Red. It’s more well known and is praised by a lot of critics. Plus, Wonder Red can have an even more unique move set with the abilities he can pull off.

You're probably right on Dillon being remaining an assist. Wonder Red will likely fill a similar role, but I still think Dillon is more well known than Wonder Red these days. One is from a Wii U exclusive from 2013 and the game hasn't seen any follow up whatsoever for the past 5 years and while there have been rumblings of a port of the game for months, we still have yet to see anything and the window for Wii U ports is quickly closing. The other debuted around the same time on a much more successful console with the game that received mixed reviews but still received a follow up about 2 years later that also received mixed reviews. Fast forward to 2018 and now we have a third game that is being praised by critics and meanwhile W101 is still in limbo for now. You may have forgotten about Dillon but the majority of people probably forgot about Wonder Red first.

That means that out of all characters that were physically possible to add to the game, Bayonetta got the most votes out of all of them.
This whole theory of "Bayonetta got in over the TRUE winner because she was RECENT and EASY TO MAKE and has a GOOD RELATIONSHIP WITH NINTENDO!" is just a prime example of fan misconception.

First of all, calm down, lol.

Secondly, as I said before, it comes down to marketing. Just because a company said something doesn't mean it holds that true value. By "most realizable" they probably mean "the easiest to market and make an extra buck off of." They're never going to flat out say that. The point of the poll was to gage a general interest in a pool of characters that can make them money and then pinpointing the best one.

Smash is basically Nintendo's #1 marketing platform. If, say, King K Rool actually won the poll, but Bayonetta was in the top, say, 20, then Bayonetta is the obvious choice to go with because they can make the most money off of that because of relevancy. On top of adding content to an already popular game, they're marketing another game on top of it, introducing a slew of players that might not know much about Bayonetta to begin with.

That said, I literally do not care that Bayonetta was added as the "poll winner". I might not care about her as a character, but I know a ton of other people do, so that's great! And she was a great choice from a marketing perspective, so even better! As I stated before. I've worked in the industry for years and I know how this stuff works. Especially from a marketing stand point. I'm not putting any bias behind what I'm saying.
