Honestly Snake's Final Smash should have been changed to this.

so gave it a day or two after the direct to let it fully sink in and the best i got is 'eh, that's alright'. it's good **** that everyone came back, but this feels like a final sendoff than a permanent thing. sakurai an old ****, was surprised to see him in the direct like he was. got the most hype for pichu comin back 'cause at that point i knew what it meant so woo. ridley does approximately ****-all for me as a newcomer. i'm gonna play him twice to get his trophies and then he's just gonna collect dust on the CSS. daisy's a big ol' shrug. i saw my big-time holy-****-i-want-it chara as a ****ing at (krystal), so i know her *** is boned for the next 5+n years. bomberman bein an at was hella-weird, had to **** my head at that. for the most part i'm happy that it's 'smash on switch' cause that's what i've been wanting so goodie.

so overall, good **** on the whole group being back, but aint **** that made me super jump outta my seat. actually liked devolver's conference more (and not just 'cause of MWC, but holy **** am i ****ing READY).

also did hyrule warriors ultra-definitive yeah-this-is-the-**** final-strike ex plus-alpha version get dlc? 'cause i think i'm still mostly right here, port-plus with some new ****. which also means this might not get dlc. i know for a fact miiverse stage is ****ing dead unless they bring back miiverse as a service.

Mewtwo was never an antagonist, at least not in the games. He was just there, chillin', relaxin' in Cerulean.

I feel Mewtwo is close enough to a Pokémon antagonist. Sakurai references both the Pokémon games and anime, and the Mewtwo in Smash has several references to the movie counterpart. Also event 51 in Melee exists.

This is really cool, obviously with the Bowser Jr. Change people have already suggested.

This would actually be a cool trailer for King K. Rool. Of course a villians trailer feels so fan servicey, but who knows with this game.

I thought about putting Bowser Jr. as Yoshi's villain, but it wouldn't be accurate, because Bowser Jr. and Baby Bowser are two different characters. Baby Bower and Bowser are the same character, plus adult Bowser shows up in several Yoshi games as the final boss.

I always thought it strange that people assumed it must be a character. He literally could have bought it for anything. "Why would he spend that money on an assist trophy/item/etc" Sakurai is one of Nintendo's biggest developers (well if I understand correctly he doesn't work for Nintendo but you know what I mean) he can get a mech model for a single item if he wants to.

i have no doubt he'd throw "toy buying" money at anything he thought could be useful i guess my point isnt so much the money it would cost is the issue its the EFFORT.

sakurai had to see the toy gun and go "oh thats perfect i NEED that to model something" he doesnt need figures and toys to model everything in the game like random items and stuff in fact sakurai is a VISIONARY and not so much doing the actual 3D modeling at all so he needs a figure to VISUALIZES how a character might look while moving and acting or as hes called it how the character "dances" in his mind.

Figures help him see how a character will look in many many different positions, if he has an idea for an up b move for instance he has to visualize where that gun goes during the "jump" or whatever how it might look.

again i think elma was odd to assign the gun to here because it was never her guns that were being pointed to it was her MECHS gun and her mech at most would probably be her final smash and then like any other random item in the game i dont see sakurai prioritizing needing a figure to model a single mech animation in the game, especially now we know final smashes dont transform characters they are more like cut scenes.

i'm seriously thinking its mach rider. we have NO retro rep that stands out right now otherwise.

literally two-thirds of vergeben's leak has already been proven right lol. i don't know why people on this thread are so intent on proving him wrong, especially since simon belmont is looking very likely after bomberman, the other popular konami rep, got assist trophy'd.

I feel Mewtwo is close enough to a Pokémon antagonist. Sakurai references both the Pokémon games and anime, and the Mewtwo in Smash has several references to the movie counterpart. Also event 51 in Melee exists.

Mewtwo isn't necessarily's Pikachu's antagonist. That would be more along the lines of I guess Meowth? There is no close enough when you use fully grown Bowser for Yoshi. After all, Mario was DK's antagonist in the Mario VS Donkey Kong lineup.

i guess the thing with Verge is real or fake the rest of his leak is pretty likely.

simons the most likely 3rd party right now and about a half dozen more characters feels pretty likely too.

the only part that seems sketchy is the minecraft part but the stuff people are focusing on; simon and 6ish more characters seems likely no matter what.

A Konami rep I see people never mention that isn't Simon is Bill Rizer. He's had a rich history and like Castlevania, hasn't seen much content in a while. In fact, his titles are one of the most classic on the NES, if not as great as Castlevania itself.

I just realized how different jab lock combos will be. ESAM stated that you can only get 2 hits if the opponent misses their tech, and the opponent can now roll away, although I guess certain characters can easily cover that.

i'm looking at all the evidence and everything points to verge being legit. and if you are going to claim that verge is piggybacking off other leakers then actually post links to where these other leakers said what vergeben said. as far as i'm aware, no cuts was a verge thing only so i'm curious which leakers said that before him. plus, i'm already wary of your claims since you tried to attribute goku to him.

To add to this, when Sakurai talks about Duck Hunt in the project plan, he never refers to them as a "retro character', he calls them Smash 4's 'surprise character'. Duck Hunt's history is mentioned, but its not influential on the concept that Sakurai defines the character under, it's just a reason for why they were picked for the role.

So theoretically we don't need a 'retro rep', there hasn't been a character defined as such by Sakurai, we just assume it's one because of a pattern.

I was more so trying to showcase that each of the original 8 franchises represented in Smash have a playable antagonist from said franchises, (aside from DK) and not so much the characters themselves. I thought about replacing Pikachu with the Pokémon Trainer, but I felt it would be better to use the original 8 characters.

I suppose Mario counts as an antagonist to DK, but we still need an antagonist from the Donkey Kong Country series damn it.

well lets also talk about how repping series isnt a thing...yet sakurai acknowledges stuff like "maybe too many fire emblem characters".

and ill go further to say RETRO REP isnt really the same as series rep (which you can make a good argument against) as i feel a retro rep just means an old character and i do believe that having the newcomers appeal to ALL AGES is an actual factor taken into consideration, so choosing an older character as well as newer characters (calling that adding a "retro rep" or not) is not only a pattern we've seen but probably has actual logical merit for how and why sakurai has consistently done this.

I totally agree with you. At the end of the day, I think Sakurai just likes surprising the fans, picking 'retro' characters just happens to be a means to do so.

Simon Belmont- Very heavily likely to due Vergeben's leak being mostly true.
Ashley- Very popular Nintendo in general appear in ads outside of Wario and she also is the only Warioware character with a Mii Costume. Her Assist Tropjy hasn't been seen yet.
Bandana Dee- A pretty popular request. There's also evidence backing his inclusion because of his amiibo data in Woolly World acting similar to Daisy who's in Smash.
King K. Rool- Considering the Newcomers is mostly fanservice themed and he had a Mii Costume which may be a hint that he was a Ballot Consolation Prize.
Mach Rider- My Guess on the Retro Rep. Sakurai bought a mech for the rifle it had, it doesn't fit Elma or Inklings. But the guy does look similar to Mach Rider's so I believe it was for her.
Lloyd Irving- My guess at the 2nd Namco Rep. He had a Mii Costume released alongside King K. Rool during the period of which the ballot was most likely slowed down. So I believe the costume was a consolation prize like K. Rool.

ECHO FIGHTER

Funky Kong- He's a pretty popular character in general in both US and Japan. He even made it into Mario Kart Wii and Tropical Freeze Switch. Plus I'm trying to think more like Sakurai here for this prediction.

Ninten- The only Mother Protagonist missing. Considering the increase of Mother Representation in the game I think he'll make it in.

Isabelle- Very popular character, but I think she won't be unique enough to stand out towards the other newcomers set by 4's standards since Villager took most of the things from Animal Crossing already.

I think Sakurai is drawn to patterns as any human is but under no circumstances is he bound to his own made up rules (if they even exist). If he doesn’t feel there is a “retro” character worth adding then he just won’t add one.

I believe some have noted that 2 down specials for Mii Brawler have been found in footage. So Miis probably have all their moves back even if customs are generally gone for everybody else (Including Palutena)

But I do imagine the Online version of Miis at least in Randoms will probably have a default. And tourneys will probably follow suit on whatever they're put up on default in the online mode.

After E3, I sort of stopped caring about Vergeben, and really leaks in general. Not that I think Verg is 100% invalid, or that more leaks won't happen, but we've just been handed so much already that I don't feel like I need leaks to keep the hype train rolling. They've already done god's work with this game, and I don't feel like I need to ruin any potential surprise due to lack of info like I did pre-E3.
