Is there anything else new about the game that we haven’t talked about yet?

Personally, I feel that we’re back in speculation limbo again. Since we know a lot about the game, but at the same time we don’t know a lot about the game. We still don’t know what the modes are, all the assist trophies, items, pokeballs, new stages, new characters, online changes, the development process of this game, and even any changes to the other half of the roster.

I think we need more information to be able to make our predictions. The E3 Smash reveal blew the lid off for the gameplay mechanics and the fact that all the characters and even stages are back, but aside from that there isn’t much to speculate from that. And there is still a ton that the devs are keeping tight to their chest to reveal later.

And Vergeben isn’t really helping. Since his information recently about the Castlevania game that I assume came from the same source that leaked Simon, seems to be incorrect because it’s a Sports game, but at the same time other insiders say it’s something else? Something is happening behind the scenes.

Mach Rider who I believe is our secret Retro Rep.

She uses a gun while riding a motorcycle and I believe Sakurai got that gun so he can figure out how to do her Ride and shoot gimmick she'd likely have. That's the only theory I have since the Gun doesn't seem to match Inklings moveset at all.

oh wow i totally over looked mach rider. i know sakurai has wanted to add mach rider in the past and i know everyone quickly jumped to elma as the rep that would use that gun buuuut mach rider fits pretty well too AND we have no clear retro rep after takamarus deconfirmation...

you're making me rethink my prediction roster here I'm kinda leaning now that mach rider might be more likely than elma...

Simon Belmont Stage

As much as Dracula's Throne room is pretty iconic, I feel that if Castlevania gets in, the stage should be The Clocktower. Like, The Clocktower is like the most recurring Castlevania level in just about all the games.

So I feel like if Castlevania gets a stage, it should be the Clocktower as it is one of the most recurring levels throughout the series and not to mention of the iconic ones due to being the place where you often fight Death.

I don't know if it has already been debunked but I don't think that leak about Ashley as a newcomer and 3 echo fighters being Daisy, Dark Samus and Octolings is real. Sounds too much like what any of us discussed when any showed up as ATs yet.
Again, keep in mind there will be 50+ ATs, and look how it turned out for Isaac in Smash 4.

Man, Stealth__ leaked Snake months before Verg.
And Emily Rogers said it would be the most complete Smash ever... which you could take as suggesting every character ever.

Verg just took a bunch of leaks from other sources and made an amalgamation leak, added his own stuff and was wrong.

everything that verge leaked about smash bros (except simon and minecraft stage/assist) has been proven right. i get the feeling that vergeben being right really pissed some people off lol.

I am pretty late with this, but, I am so glad Ridley is finally playable. Even with those likely-ish leaks, I did not dare hope he would make it, but I am so glad Sakurai gave him a chance. Ridley looks awesome, and I cannot wait for December. Sakurai may have broken my heart by disconfirming Waluigi, but he mended it again with Ridley.

However

I will not be satesfied until we have Gerudo Link as a alt costume. And Wedding Dress Mario. And Speedos Ganondorf.

I do not want that to happen ever.. But it makes logical sense that Goku might've won the ballot so...

Agreed. To me, the Miis never felt like "You can play as anyone you want now!", they felt more like "You can pretend to play as anyone you want now!"

Personally, I’ve had Miis that I’ve had for ages, changed only a little bit since the original Wii (man, was that a long time ago...) so I have a bit more attachment.

Another thing, if you have Miis that aren’t ripping off other notable characters (or are ripping characters off but are more obscure, like a Buizel Mii I’ve used quite a bit,) they have kind of an underdog factor. Like, among all these famous characters with storied histories, here we have this actual nobody who is hoping to rise through the ranks.

But he wasn't the first to leak any of the Smash Bros stuff that he got right...

You can literally connect everything that was "correct" to someone else prior to him leaking it.
(Leakers leaked/ suggested info prior to Verg making any claims - then Verge essentially combined them all said it was from his own sources)
In the very least when his leak came out... There was nothing that wasn't already suggested or leaked by others... it was very safe.

I get the feeling people really want Verge to be legit, but refuse to acknowledge leakers like Sleath__ existed months before Verge even said anything.

It's just odd that all the things that originated from Verge (involving Smash) didn't happen though.

So Verg was wrong about Belmont and the Konami/ castlevania games (twice)
Said the Belmont games would be at E3. (wrong)
Then said the castlevania games were under NDA until Wednesday (wrong again)

These parts of his leak.... were the only parts that specifically came from him and weren't else where/ already public knowledge...
and it's the only part of his leak that was wrong?

I can't give him any credit for anything in Smash (yet) as all the stuff that came true came from other leakers before him.
Had he leaked the info before Stealth__ then i'd be more inclined to believe him.
Unfortunately that isn't the case.

I completely forgot about the toy rifle Sakurai bought a long time ago. I legitimately have no clue what the rifle is going to be used for at this point. I have already settled that Elma and Rex would not get in due to 6 month timing, but neither of them really use rifles at all. Maybe Geno would utilize it since he kinda has a rifle gun arm for a weapon. I have another matter to be consider now with my newcomer predictions.

everyone has been assuming this was elma and her mech and honestly the main reason ive been rating elma as very likely...but now i REALLY think thats wrong and the gun is actually being used for mach rider as we have NO clear front runner for retro rep now that takamaru is deconfirmed.

No, it's a missile targeter that launches missiles presumably from REX. You can see it in his character trailer.

He moves a cursor and sends some missles flying at targets, not sure how it works but thank god it isn't the grenade launcher again that **** would be busted in 8 player. Snake in general is really good iirc, crawling, low crouch, heavy as ****, strong as ****, they just fixes his dumb hitboxes primarily

Mewtwo was never an antagonist, at least not in the games. He was just there, chillin', relaxin' in Cerulean.

In the tiny chances that Banjo gets in, assuming that Minecraft deal is fully legit and Microsoft'd also get a character, Imagine if Banjo got a awesome CGi trailer and all that like all Newcomers, but, at the end of the trailer, Mario, Banjo, and whatever other characters being there, turns around and looks chocked, and the camera zooms out from them, and it all turns yellow as it turns out the camera is zooming out of the reflection of Master Chief's helmet.

Now, no way that would ever happen, but I really, really wanna see the live reactions to Master Chief in Smash.

I do have to assume its a character though as we know sakurai has used toys to model character positions and stuff, elma always sat kind of odd for me here as id assume her mech would only be like a final smash or something and not something sakurai would need to use a toy gun to look at from a lot of different angles if the final smash is just a single animation... so a character that ALWAYS uses the gun like mach rider is way more fitting.

i have to say im leaning way more mach rider than elma now cause the retro rep spot is totally open.

literally two-thirds of vergeben's leak has already been proven right lol. i don't know why people on this thread are so intent on proving him wrong, especially since simon belmont is looking very likely after bomberman, the other popular konami rep, got assist trophy'd.

Gematsu was all correct info until a point as well. Personally I think it's better to remain skeptical than get my hopes up, but it is fun to talk about.

I doubt that a Mecha machine gun would be used for Geno's gun arm which is definitely much more simple, the gun was most likely for either an XCX character's Skel or Mach Rider. I'm still putting my money on Mach Rider for our retro rep.

I always thought it strange that people assumed it must be a character. He literally could have bought it for anything. "Why would he spend that money on an assist trophy/item/etc" Sakurai is one of Nintendo's biggest developers (well if I understand correctly he doesn't work for Nintendo but you know what I mean) he can get a mech model for a single item if he wants to.
