He wrote more detail and paragraphs and stuff, he didn’t just dump a full roster list. He tries being slightly vague and leave room for interpretation so if he’s off a little, he can wiggle around and say he was sorta right. It’s a classic unreliable leaker strat, and Verg is good at it

Considering Sakurai said he's not adding many new characters, along with him adding Echo Fighters, I find it hard to believe he'd push past 70.

Yeah but it doesn't have to be an absurdly small amount like some people are thinking.

Having realistic expecations is fine but you don't have to be overly pessimistic.

If this is indeed Sakurai's last game, I hope he will be balsy. Add my most wanted Retro pick. He called her game a masterpiece. If we are not getting Balloon Fighter as Retro, let it be Lip. She deserves it. So much reference, but yet no physical appearence, at all.

I'd so main Lip. She'd be a perfect newcomer.

I think people are taking the "don't expect many newcomers" statement a bit too negatively. Usually we get 13+ newcomers per game, but apparently that statement means we're getting 2-5. I don't see it. They know newcomers are desired as well. I'm going with my safe range of 7-10 for this game. Prove me wrong as usual, Sakurai.

I'm good. I have DK, Dedede and Rosalina. I have what I need, just not who I want.

These picks are safe as hell, and any absolutely insane "never in a million years" character picks could be reserved for DLC anyways, which I'm sure this game will have.

I think it goes beyond the "don't expect many newcomers"

Keep in mind, there are some of us, me admittedly included, that don't believe Sakurai is going at this roster the way he does with "a new game"

I understand your view. It's sad when something you really want does not apply for the rest. Unfair, perhaps. Still, Marth and Roy for Melee was quite fine. And Lucas for Brawl seemed to be cool for others. Still, Takamaru is dead, unfortuanetley. So, while I get your point, I still would be glad as hell to see Lip getting here. Even if she is just an Assist Trophy, I'd still be happy. And hey, if an Assist Trophy happens, let her be happy together with Takamaru in Assist Land.

If it is the real roster, I really like it! It's also time sensitive as the next character reveal has to be Decidueye (or one of the echoes: Shadow, Dark Samus or Chrom).

Would either of you care to explain why that's not DasVergeben, but "DasVerzeihen" instead? Unless it's a throwaway account the real Das made to post the roster so he wouldn't get caught, but somehow I doubt that.

This leak is looking faker and faker by the minute. Rats. I'd kill for a playable Lippy in Smash.

For those who haven't gotten enough Smash footage, remember it will be playable in Japan tommorow, should be getting even more footage and impressions then.

For anyone lucky enough (me!) to be going to SDCC next month, Nintendo will have it playable there for sure, 100 percent certain of it. The next opportunity afterwards will be in August, the game should be playable at both PAX West and EVO 2018. Prepare for veryyyyyyyy long lines, though.

I wonder how long we're going to be arguing about a single fragment of a sentence from Sakurai to determine the roster size. We can safely say that it's lower than the Brawl -> pre-DLC 4, and greater than two, but there is no real basis for anything else as far as I can tell.

Both joined today within an hour of each other and have the same profile picture, so at least it's not a matter of "whose the real one." Or, in any case, that there's only one impersonator rather than two.
