Did anyone see Skull Kid as an assist yet?

Not that I'm aware of.

I wouldn't read too much into it though. It's possible Sakurai scrapped a few Assist Trophies to make room for some new ones (and let's be honest, as popular as Skull Kid is, his Assist Trophy was less than helpful). Wouldn't be surprised if we see a Gaurdian or a random Champion in the near future.

Not all Assist Trophies were revealed during the E3 build. Isabelle's absence does not guarantee her a playable spot, as she could still end up receiving the Assist Trophy treatment.

I just really hope the roster in the final build will not be in the order of the website: 1 Mario 2 Donkey Kong and so on. The Smash 4 roster did not have all its characters by its series (Mewtwo, Lucas, Roy, Corrin at the DLC / Dr. Mario, Lucina, Dark Pit at the clones). I thought it was really disturbing and I hope they don't do this again, but it looks really like they are going to do this again.

That does sound like pretty solid evidence, but I wouldn't say it's guaranteed still.

iirc the thing with Daisy's amiibo was a bug or something, I don't know or remember any of the details aside from that, should be a bunch of pages back in this thread.

Not making an echo fighter doesn't equate to adding another newcomer. Echo fighters barely take any effort to create while with newcomers they have to create and animate all the new moves and animations.

Just keep in mind that not every amiibo released will be compatible with Smash Ultimate.

And speaking of amiibo, I am wondering how they'll work in Smash Ultimate. I know that in Smash 3DS / Wii U, you could feed them equipment and change their special moves.

I fully believe the roster is going to get padded with Echoes this time around. Maybe "padded" isn't the correct word for a roster already pushing 70 characters, but I think what's going to happen is we only get a small handful of "true" newcomers, maybe even as few as three or four. That's simply an effect of bringing all the vets back.

But I don't think Sakurai will be content with that, and I see Echoes as his solution for adding in fan favorite characters there isn't time to add as fully fleshed options. Emphases fan favorite, because no, I doubt we're getting Funky Kong or Raichu just because they'd work quite well as Echoes.

Isabelle, Dark Samus and Shadow all fit nicely into the venn diagram of "popular character" and "echo potential". Characters like Waluigi, Takamaru or Midna might be popular enough to warrant inclusion as characters, but they don't have the echo potential. And characters like Raichu or Funky Kong may have the echo potential, but not really the popular backing.

Instead, characters like Dixie or Bandana Dee are more likely. Neither fits that well, but if the reason for putting Echoes in is to get more popular characters in, they both seem like good fits. If Diddy's truly lost his tail attacks, then technically nothing prevents Dixie from being skinned to his skeleton, even if the end result is a character that lacks Dixie's primary helicopter gimmick. Bandana Dee could easily be slapped onto Kirby's skeleton, maybe with a permanent B move as the only thing differentiating him (perhaps a variation on Kirby's Metaknight spin or Marth stab).

Impa has popularity within the fanbase and once again, her extreme ease of being implemented as an echo. Chrom, too, has a shot because of this even if I'd find the choice quite boring.

How ironic.

Pre-Brawl and pre-SSB4, detractors used to say “this character is not unique enough”.

Now pre-Ultimate, detractors are saying “this character is not similar enough to be an Echo Fighter.”

So characters either have to be too unique or too similar to get in Smash.

I checked the source of a couple series I'm confident are not getting new characters and they had a section for "Other fighters from this series" in their source as placeholders.

Unless Metal Gear is getting a second character...

Possibly alternate costumes will partially introduce characters into the game.
The feature would be terribly limited, though.

Personally, I'm a little pissed that Bomberman and Krystal are mere Assist Trophies — I was really hoping they'd be playable. But I guess there's still hope for Vaati.

All Smash NX needs to be is an enhanced port of Smash Wii U. Collate the stages from both versions, add DLC to the base game, add a couple of extra characters/stages and if they're feeling particularly kind a couple of modes.

I'd like to see both Smash Run and Smash Tour in the same game.

Dixie I think is more of a semi-clone than an Echo fighter due to some tool overlap but simply calling her an overlay of sorts doesn't seem accurate.

I can't believe we already have 11 confirmed viable stages for tournament play, battlefield and omega forms, and the ability to turn of stage hazards. The meta will be super hype.

I don't mind echo fighters. And what's with people treating them like their nothing now? Even if they have different properties, they will ultimately play differently from their "parent" character. And if you don't like the character...maybe don't pick them? I mean, everyone is literally here, so there are more choices to pick.

This reminds me of when people actually wanted the roster to get smaller because they wanted the characters they don't like to be gotten rid of.

- Meowth or Team Rocket (Meowth & Wobbuffet team)

I actually agree with this. Now, that they have been deemed Echo Fighters, they are being treated as if they are lesser fighters because ofit.

"Reveal 1: Picks up immediately where the last one completes. Samus divekicks towards Ridley but he grabs her and slams her against the ground. He drops her and prepares to impale her with his claw, but it's stopped by a whip. Reveal Simon. Tagline is, "Simon Belmont whips up a storm!"

Reveal 2: Pikachu fights other characters on a stage (I think it's the new Pokemon Stadium). Reveal Mimikyu hiding behind some stage terrain, watching the battle. He hears everyone cheering for Pikachu as it defeats its opponents. Pikachu walks by Mimikyu's hiding spot, he pulls him into the darkness, you hear some cartoon fighting, and then Mimikyu pops out. Reveal is first, "Pikachu shocks the competition!" before the music stops and "Mimikyu scares up some fun!" is slapped over it.

Reveal 3: I don't know much about how this one works out other than that my friend said that it features Ashley and Shadow, seemingly as friends. Comedic one that plays on them both being kind of dark and brooding.

Reveal 4: King K. Rool beating up DK, Diddy, and Ness. Funky Kong bi-plane fires at him, then Funky Kong surfs into battle and stands alongside his pals. Something along the lines of, "Funky Kong makes some waves!"

Reveal 5: This one starts with footage from the Smash Bros Ultimate reveal where they kill Waluigi. We instead follow him down the abyss until he lands unceremoniously in mud. Long story short, he tries to get back into Smash by writing his name down as Geno. He finally appears, dressed haphazardly as Geno, in a Forest Maze-esque stage where he surprises Luigi, Pikachu, and Villager by popping out along with the tagline, "Geno strings up his foes!" The real Geno appears and immediately defeats him, and once again the tagline appears. Waluigi sulks in the dirt, until Luigi pulls him up, dusts him off. Tagline finally says, "Waluigi inches over the finish line!"

Very interesting leak. I like the idea of a sequential story for newcomer trailers.

Sigh.....

I love all of these trailer ideas. (Especially the last one, it would be a dream come true for me). Unfortunately, there's no chance in hell it's legit.

Not directed at anyone specifically, hence not replying to any of the comments I've seen of it, but the pessimisim regarding a character ruining the hype or the game for you is just...I just don't see how that could happen.

Like are there characters I'd perfer not be in the game? Sure, Dark Pits been there already. But did he ruin smash 4??? It's just....like don't play them? Don't ever look at them? With 60+ characters it shouldn't be hard to ignore. I just can't imagine being that petty. I get being bummed if your character is deconfirmed(all my support to those who got murdered by assist trophy reveals) but if let's say Lycanroc got in over Decideueye or Mimikyu, it wouldn't ruin the game for me.

Roger Smith put it best several pages back, it's just a game chill. Enjoy how much love has been put in it, instead of being spiteful because of 1 character. Sorry I know it was several pages ago but it was on my mind.
