Official Smash Ultimate Discussion

Almost one month has passed since release. In retrospect....

  • This is by far the best Smash ever. Like, I don't even know how they will top this.

  • Pretty freakin' good; I have a few qualms over things like internet play, balancing issues, etc.

  • It's ok, but [insert Smash game here] is better.

  • I'd rather play Parcheesi.

Welp. Thanks guys. Now I'm going to support Sora, Joker, Geno, Chrom, Ray...

Look at how much of a NEVER EVER my wishlist is. I want to cry.
This was the price I had to pay by voting Cloud in the Ballot and get him
I feel you, I also have some NEVER EVER on my wishlist...like Remilia Scarlet from Touhou and 2B from NieR : Automata. And some would argue Ridley also falls into that category.

Anyway, I too have followed the trend and changed my Avatar to the character I support the most. Cheers!

they have at least Metroid Prime 4 too.
We really don’t know that.

They specifically said they’re focusing on 2018 games and will feature 2019 titles at a later date. Every other time they’ve said that they’ve pretty much stuck to it.

Unless you believe Prime 4 is coming out this holiday alongside Smash, Fire Emblem, Pokémon, and maybe even Animal Crossing, it probably won’t be featured at E3.

I’m really worried for all the people expecting Prime 4 to be at E3.

metroid is on that walmart leak which is honestly looking pretty legit every passing day. so yeah i wouldn't really decisively claim that its not going to be at e3.

Well... I guess Pyra and probably Rex are truly deconfirmed.
There was a problem fetching the tweet

If she was under NDA she wouldn't pay attention at all, nor answered.
Though we could get a Roy/Marth/Cloud situation with Japanese voices.

Is Pyra's original voice is good as Marth and Roy's?

I don't understand why an NDA would force you to not deny involvement as that just casts more suspicion and has no benefit. What is the point of not letting people say "No, I'm not involved"?

The Walmart leak (which has been more than definitively proven to be accurate at this point) showed Prime 4, so we definitely know it is at least going to be shown off.

I don't know if I totally understand your question, but if you were involved in something and said you weren't, it could totally kill hype for that game.

Like, hypothetically, Charles Martinet saying he isn't involved in the new Smash meaning Mario/Luigi/Wario have new VAs or just aren't present at all would not be good for Nintendo.

Here's something we never talk about in this thread. Captain Toad!

Found this awesome moveset for our fungus friend. The guy who made it really went above and beyond with the animations.

Because saying "No" actually mean you know something about your role.
For someone who did an internal Ubisoft Stage, I can confirm you that they do tell you to not answers/pay attention to question when asked about any projects close to what you're currently doing whenever they're real or false.

You are free to deny extremely dumb **** though. But everything Close or Far from the current project is a no-no. You don't say ANYTHING. Or be vague as ****
Your involvement, your job, what the project or even the codename of the project is sometimes forbidden to even say.

Probably why I overanalyzed and still feel iffy on Masked Man's words.

Was this internal Ubisoft project known by the public then? Even then, seems kinda counterintuitive

Yes it was somethings people knew at the time...
Since Ubisoft games leaks every weeks. We had tons of NDA rules but they never work lmao-
Why do you think people joke about "Nintendo's ninja?" It's because it's the only company who actually manage to get it's NDA respected

Wait I'm confused, cause by "known by the public" I meant "Was it officially announced by Ubisoft?" Cause obviously a leaked game wouldn't even have a director talk about it

Yes. It was officially announced at the time at E3.
The game leaked a long time before that.
When the game leaked they gave us a reminder for the basic rules for the NDA
And when it was announced once again we had a lesson about Not spilling the beans

And do mind that I had to follow these rules when my stage was something as dumb as making Plant Texture.

nintendo didn't bring in steve burton cuz union stuff (and i don't think marth and roy had english voices when they were being developed. someone correct me if i'm wrong). based on that, i find it very unlikely that they'll pull a cloud with rex and pyra since it doesn't look like skye bennet or al weaver are unionized and i don't think their schedule is that packed. the fact that she is publicly denying it though probably means that she either didn't read her nda, that she's impervious to nintendo ninjas or that rex and pyra are RIP for the base roster (and i'm leaning towards the latter)

Do we know the reason was because of the union?
Also Marth had an English release though no English voice outside the anime. Roy didn't though

At the last E3 they also said that they'd only talk about games that'd come out in 2017, yet they talked about/showed several games that still haven't come out. I'd take any statement like that with a grain of salt, the only thing they intend with these kind of statements is to lower expectations so that if they contradict it it'll be a surprise.

The wording then was "focus on games releasing this year".

This time we have the more explicit wording that games releasing next year will be featured at a later date.

Of course Nintendo can just do a 180 and show games releasing next year anyway.

Really? That's pretty cool. He did a great job with it, and I'd love to see Captain Toad represented like that.

I'm sure he posted it earlier, but I guess I must have missed it.

They have to have more planned for E3 than just 2018 games. I'm assuming we already know most of what's left for the Switch this year (Yoshi, Captain Toad, Fire Emblem, Pokemon, Smash), so I would be genuinely surprised if we don't get a few teasers for 2019 titles.

If Prime 4 isn't showcased at E3, I think that won't bode well for Ridley. One idea for showcasing newcomers for the next Smash I've heard, is to reveal them after the advertisement of a new game

Most of the time, things don't work out to where newcomers are revealed alongside a new game for their series. A Prime 4 reveal would've helped, but I don't think it's absolutely crucial to Ridley's chances.

Regardless, Namco is still working on Prime 4. I'm sure Sakurai would've been kept in the loop about certain things regarding Samus's new design and Ridley if he asked.

I'm scared that it won't be the main focus of E3 with that wording. I swear to God if we only get one trailer/one postcredit surprise for smash and get a 15 Min developer talk for Yoshi I will riot.

Never is an overstatement. Considering every few days people complain about the "Captain Toad can't jump" argument.

It's the only game they've announced to be showing in their main E3 presentation. What else would they list?

smash is non-union which would explain why steve burton wasn't called in and why all the unionized va's are uncredited or replaced. it could also be NOA being cheap ****s but i'm pretty confident its union stuff.

I doubt that will be the case. Randomly revealing Smash in a March Nintendo Direct instead of E3 tells me that Nintendo wants people to know about the game's existence prior to E3 so they can blast people with all sorts of info. Keep in mind that the game is coming out this year, and we don't even have gameplay yet.

I was kinda being sarcastic. It feels like we talk about Captain Toad every two hours.

When they mention a game like this it's usually their focus. Mario Odyssey was also announced to be at E3 like that and it was their main game last year

I have no clue how to read this, but if you're right sounds like we will only get two trailers or so for the game and not a full in depth with Sakurai :/.

Unless everything else is only going to take 10-15 minutes lol.
Pretty sure they're holding more in-depth stuff for the Treehouse, the Tournament and for a Smash-centric Direct in the future. Like last year I think the E3 Direct will be mostly just to show trailers
