Mine is not a prediction, but an ideal roster. I disagree with Bayonetta EVER having been added and same with Snake.

K. Rool: I used that to show that people know K. Rool, and is relevant because of internet discussions.

Wii Fit: Her newest game didn't sell so well and nobody played her. Within the Wii Fit series, she is not anywhere near the protagonist, and Wii Fit is not a game.

Lucina: Use math! Lucina is way less important than characters that I chose. She's important in one game, and is an up and coming mascot. Alright, kinda deserving. Ridley appears in like 10 games as a boss several times. Waluigi appears in 20 games as a playable character. Bandana Dee is Kirby's player 4. Tom Nook!

Just in case you forgot, mine is not a prediction, and is more of a mental experiment.

Takamaru: If you want to argue in terms of the roster I'm trying to make, the super obscure game of Ice Climbers SOLD BETTER than Takamaru's game.

Solid reception makes the game more memorable, and since I'm designing for the average person...

Captain Toad: I'm considering him.

Nihilism: It's a good thing you aren't a nihilist. I do take facts into consideration because they always give me philosophy, but some facts straight up don't matter. If they all did, we would all be SJWs.

Lucario and Greninja were important one or two gen, but are now forgotten. People really try their hardest to justify Lucario. Pokken isn't that big of a boost.

Everyone else covered Greninja, Lucario, and Wii Fit Trainer. Also gonna ignore your unironic use of the term SJW as an insult.

But your justification for cutting Lucina is bonkers.

She has a lot more than just Awakening under her belt. Beyond that, she's playable in Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. and Fates and is summonable as a phantom in Shadows of Valentia via amiibo, and is fully playable in Fire Emblem Warriors, Project X Zone 2, Fire Emblem Heroes (in which she has four playable versions of herself), and has several depictions of her as cards in the physical trading card game Fire Emblem Cipher.

That's a whole lot more than "one game." And if spin-offs don't count for some arbitrary reason, then Waluigi absolutely doesn't have twenty games under his belt. Consistency is key.

Since we're talking about the ""leak""", I'm gonna rank the rumored newcomers based on hype already:

Ridley: 80%
Simon: 40%
Wolf: 100%
King K. Rool: 75%
Dixie Kong: 80%

I'll do my general hype level rankings as well. I don't really believe this leak at all and it doesn't have the same draw for me as it would a 90s kid, so here's my thoughts.

• Ridley: 75%, I like his character and I think his playstyle could be really interesting. One of the most evil villains Nintendo has deserves a place
  
• Simon: 40%, no connection to him and I'm not a big fan of his Gothic aesthetic
  
• Wolf: 95%, him being my Brawl main speaks for itself
  
• King K Rool: 70%, another iconic villain would be a welcome move and his different personalities offer a wide range of movesets
  
• Dixie Kong: 60%, I like the DK characters and more is nice, but my 3rd Kong of choice would be Funky
  
• Sora: 40%, could be nice but I don't really want a pile of Disney stuff in Smash, also a lack of connection with the character
  
• Geno/Mallow: 80%, I've not played Mario RPG but Geno fascinates me on premise alone
  
• Chorus Kids: 20%, eeeeehhhhhhhh
  
• Porky: 50%, neither here nor there. More villains is good but adding villains just for the sake of it isn't really desirable.
  
• Medusa: 60%, Kid Icarus honestly has so much potential and Medusa has a lot to pull from, but she's utterly dwarfed by Hades in villain quality
  
• Mimikyu: 95%, what a wholesome Pokemon. Tied with Lycanroc for my most wanted Alola mon and one of my all-time favourites.
  
• Elma: 90% (in a vacuum), 60% (given that it's Elma but not Rex) exciting fighter with strong potential who I'd love to see, but as an actual character I enjoy Rex more in every possible way
  
• Snake: 50%, he's a vet with an established, fun moveset but beyond that, similar issues to Simon and Sora
  
• Ice Climbers: 65%, I do like messing around with them in Brawl but they need to not be broken this time.
  
• Samurai Goroh: 0%, I can't actually fathom how he'd be interesting and I don't care about F-Zero, which is fine with just Captain Falcon unless they're looking for someone to transplant Ganondorf's old moveset into. There's far better Nintendo villains to include and Goroh is the one character that makes me most suspicious about this leak.
  
• Takamaru: 75%, reunite the Famicom 4! He also has plenty of exciting moveset options to choose from and is definitely my preferred Samurai for this game *glares at Goroh*.

Overall: 55%. There's some good characters here, but the lack of Rex and Bandana Waddle Dee seriously stings, the third parties are extremely meh to me, and shoehorning a theme of heroes versus villains in rather than adding good characters for the sake of quality roster additions, with some villains involved based on their own merits as characters, is a far better direction.

Why are we even giving the Imgur leak this much attention?

I can understand the Ridley, Simon and Ice Climbers one but the Imgur leak seems no different than any other text leak, and I’m pretty sure it’s also piggybacking off other things people have said in the past.

I don't even think a lot of people really believe it, it's just a fun leak to entertain while we have nothing else to discuss. It has brought up new subjects, like Porky for example, which is preferable to the same old discussion we've had a gazillion times. It's also a roster a lot of people would probably love to be true, so that probably motivates people to talk about it even more. I am yet to see anyone say that they really believe it though.

Primarily because I WANT some Fire Emblem characters cut (Particularly Roy Lucina and Corrin) so we can get more reps from the series. If they don't remove any, then I really can't see them adding more considering even Sakurai acknowledged their oversaturation.

Thanks for clarifying, I had seen mentions of this and was uncertain about it’s possibility because of how popular someone like Lucina just is. At the same time Dr. Mario is a popular veteran and Dark Pit’s assets are easy to port.

Ridley: 80% It would really break the internet. Smash players will be really hyped, and I think it's time for Ridley to make the jump. I'm not one who think I would main him, therefore the score fits enough for my excitement.

Simon: 25% Honestly, I understand the hype of him being and Icon due to Castlevania on the NES and SNES, other than this, I don't know what to think of Belmont. It's just, ok. Still think Crash would be more fun.

Wolf: 70% Not only because he is a veteran, but also because I liked how he played in Brawl. I hope some new tweaks could make him more enjoyable, like they did for Roy as an example.

King K. Rool: 100% My most wanted newcomer, ever. I'd be so happy for him to appear in the game, and it would bring me a lot of hype. Nostalgic overload from my childhood, playing DKC1 on the Gameboy colour.

Dixie Kong: 65% I really want another DK character in general, and I also think Dixie is important enough in Nintendo's history that she warrents my hype. She won't be near KKR hype, but I would look forward to it.

Sora: 5% I really like Kingdom Heart, but I don't understand why he would be in Smash. I think it's enough with Smash Flash 2.

Geno/Mallow: 40% (Geno itself 80%). Honestly, Geno alone is more interesting, but if Mallow is there for the Final Smash, I would not mind that for a second, and would be more hype, of course. As a team, I don't know how it would work. It's not like they are the Ice Climbers.

Chorus Kids: 75% It's so random, and I got no clue to how they would work. Thinking that they will appear in some form of "Story Mode" just cracks me up. It's because of this I've become more hype about the Chorus Kids.

Porky: 20% Honestly, I don't know much of Earthbound/Mother series, but Ness is my main, and I think it's cool to see more love for his series, but Porky never caught my attention.

Medusa: 65% The only remaining Kid Icarus character I want left. I think she is a great addition. The Palutena for Dark Pit sort of. Also, she is a female villain, which is new.

Mimikyu: 35% I've always felt like Mimikyu was overrated. Just seen a couple episodes of the new show, but ... I did like capturing him in Pokémon Sun. I think the design is cool, and that he might be a very interesting character, but for now I can't see him "dancing in my mind", but Sakurai might.

Elma: 30% Don't know anything about the Xenoblade series, but I do think Elma looks cool. There are plenty of other characters I would be more hyped about, but I think she is quite possible.

Snake: 25% Did not care too much for Snake in Brawl. Don't care too much of him now either, but thanks to Bayonetta in Smash 4, I think Snake fits better now with the cast. If they remake his moveset to what Other M had I would be more interested.

Ice Climbers: 100% We all know why they were left out the last time. Ice Climbers hold such a charm for me that I can't hope to see them gone permanent. I wish for them to come back, and I will be so happy when I see them.

Goroh: 100% Honestly, I should have known better. During Brawl I was all over a new F-Zero character appearing, but it did not happen. I knew by the time of Smash 4 that the chance was slim to none, and here we are, I should know it still is slim, but all this talk about this leak, and the mentions of Goroh, the more I see people dislike him, the more I want him inn. Goroh is my favourite F-Zero Pilot, and he would bring me so much hype in this game, his expressions, the moveset they could pull. I would main Goroh at day 1.

Takamaru: 50% At one point I think; "Cool". At another I'm like; "Meh". I'm at a 50-50. If his in it's great, if not, I won't lose sleep over it.

Ridley works for the evil space pirates and murder Samus parents, eating them... but what Porky did is much more ****ed up.

Actually, keeping Marth Japanese makes perfect sense. It represents a time when Fire Emblem was Japanese only

Going back to Simon. Came up with a brief moveset prediction for him. I believe he'll use a mixture of both Classicvania moves he can use and what other playable Castlevania characters can do and Castlevania Judgement.

Spoiler: Icedragonadam's Simon Moveset

Since Sakurai will probably make a unique gimmick for the newcomers again. I have an idea on what Simon's will be.

Simon's unique trait is that he can use different items with his B that can be switched using his Side B, and he can use the signature Item Crashes with his down B. Just like the original game he can only use these moves if he enough hearts to use them. He has a chance at getting a heart dropped if he makes a connecting hit with any move. At the start he begins with 10.

B: Item. Uses one of his items he can use in his game(except for the stopwatch)

Dagger- Throws a dagger start ahead doing non-flinching damage. Consumes 1 heart.

Cross- Throws his cross straight ahead and it comes back to him damaging any opponents in the way. Consumes 2 hearts.

Axe- Throws an axe at an upward arc. Consumes 2 hearts.

Holy Water- Throws Holy Water at the ground causing three bursts of blue flames consecutively which goes farther with each flame. Consumes 3 hearts.

Up B: Whip Tornado. Used in Castlevania Judgement as a ground based move but it can easily be made a recovery move.

Side B: Item Switch. Switches between his items

Down B: Item Crash. The Powered up attacks of items introduced in Rondo of Blood and based on their effects.

Dagger- Throws a flurry of knives straight ahead doing non flinching damage. Consumes 10 hearts
Axe- Four Axes surround Simon damaging anyone who gets in the way, after a bit they fly in a straight direction depending on their direction. Consumes 15 Hearts.
Cross- A much bigger Cross appears in front of Simon then spins up and down zig zigging vertically to off the screen. Consumes 15 hearts.
Holy Water- Throws two holy water bottles each of both sides with the flames being bigger and green. Consumes 20 hearts.

Neutral Attack: Uses the signature whip attack. If you hold the button he can spin it doing non-flinching damage.

Side Smash: Slashes his whip across in front of him.

Down Smash: Uses a sliding attack like Maria.

Up Smash: Uses his whip in a similar way as ZSS.

Neutral Air: Slashes vertically up to three times.

Side Air: Slashes Across in front of him

Up Air: Does an air sommersault with his whip lashing out above him.

Down Air: Dives down head first. Causes an impact if he lands on the ground.

I come from pretty much the opposite perspective. I'd rather he be brought in line with how he is in his actual home series, without being bogged down by a Smash Bros.-only localization tradition. Between Shadow Dragon, Warriors, and Heroes, Marth's character really shines through, to the point where he's actually my fifth favorite Fire Emblem character over all. So it just kinda sucks seeing him so often misrepresented within the Smash fandom due to the language barrier. That and Yuri Lowenthal's voice for him was always my headcanon pick for how he'd sound anyway, haha.


Just my perspective, anyway.
