Honestly, while leaks are fun to discuss, I'm in the camp of people that really wished they weren't a thing. E3 leaks are like looking at your Christmas presents early; sure, you know what they are now, but all that means is that the event you were waiting for has now lost most of what made it special. Instead of being "Aaaah, that character got in! Cool!" it becomes "Huh. Leak was real. Neat.", and that just kind of bums me out, lol.

I think the reason I want these to be fake so much is because I just prefer to be surprised, especially when it comes to Nintendo stuff.

Nope, it was Brawl who oversized the mech. In the original series it is quite feasible.

It's smaller, but it isn't exactly feasible.

Super Smash Bros. Crusade got away with it because it's a sprite based game, but try to imagine that thing as a 3D model working as a playable fighter.

- Bayonetta was cut by me because she's a R rated character in a game for both adults and kids. Some third party had to be cut. She's also definetly not the most wanted.

She definitely WAS, outside of things that couldn't be done like Goku and whatnot. She was the ballot winner. Being an M rated character literally doesn't matter, considering we got her and Snake.

- I never once said I wanted the most popular. I actually just want the most deserving, which is why I didn't include Krystal or Wolf. It's a coincidence that my roster is full of popular characters lol.

What was the reason then?

- Lucina: Popularity is not the only thing that matters.

When you come from a series with over eight hundred characters and land third on the popularity poll only behind Ike and Lyn, I'd say it matters a whole lot in her case. It only helps that she's incredibly important in Awakening. If that's enough for K. Rool, why is it not enough for Lucina?

- Spring Man: Eh. Still not that deserving since it's in its infancy.

The big issue here is the word "deserving." Nothing is "deserving," or at least not to any degree that matters. Only Sakurai can truly say what is deserving because we don't know all of his criteria. We know some of it, but not all.

- Skull Kid: Stop treating me like I'm a troll. I actually was wrong on this one.

"Troll" wouldn't be the word I'd use, but fair enough.

- Takamaru: Still not that deserving.

There's that word again. Why is Takamaru not deserving? Sakurai has given him heavy consideration in the past, and the sole roadblock Sakurai had with him (lack of international appearance) has been corrected now that Mysterious Murasame Castle got localized. He even got an Assist Trophy and Mii costume as consolation. I'd say he's perfectly "deserving."

- Sonic: I forgot to say this. Sonic has some good games, and ask anybody: that's enough to love a series. We love video games even though half of them suck.

Then why hold "mixed reviews" against Dillon (especially since they're not really mixed to begin with)?

- Toad: Yoshi and Pokemon feel like their own characters because there's a main Yoshi and a main Pikachu.

And if that matters so much, why not use Captain Toad?

- Geno isn't exactly the most popular guy anyway.

Going by what, exactly? He was popular enough to get noticed by Sakurai, who called him a popular character suggestion.

You just look at facts without deriving much philosophy from them like a ****ing Nihilist (screw Nihilism, it's just a feeling people get when they've forgotten basic logic) or saying things similar to what others have said.

I don't see your point here. Looking at facts is a good thing, especially when your personal philosophy and the reality of roster selection are at odds. And I'm not really a nihilist lol.

Also, WOW. Getting angry because people want a game character.

Never did I say you couldn't want K. Rool. Ever. I got mad because you feel the need to step on other characters because they AREN'T K. Rool.

When it comes to these kinds of "leaks" (rumors really) I don't see how anyone wouldn't still be shocked about a character they are excited for getting in. Especially since there is zero way to know if these are accurate right now. You can bet my ass will be freaking out if Ridley gets revealed, even if people have been hinting it for months.

Now an actual leak with photo and video evidence...I can get that disappointment. But those can still be faked so it's nice to get confirmation from Nintendo. It all goes together with the don't believe anything fully, and then you can still be surprised.

Man literally weeks ago I remember discussion about people wanting more villains.
Half the forum was saying "Sakurai won't just add villains for the sake of villains".

Other things people said F-Zero is dead and will never get another rep...
Same for Earthbound.

Now a leak, seemingly fake comes out.... Same people won't stop talking about stuff they said would never happen.

I'm done. DONE.

Nope, it was Brawl who oversized the mech. In the original series it is quite feasible.

Those are the rumors:

It has a lot of fan favourites but some big names like Decidueye, Spring Man, Rex and Pyra and Rayman are left out.

It's possible they could be DLC? Crash is missing from this as well and he would be a HUGE character. Sora doesn't cut the idea of being a huge character for Smash to me because he's one of those characters I feel is being "forced" upon us. The same for Steve

I think Earthbound's Pokey would work better as a playable character and he'd have more capacity for expression. Mother 3's Porky doesn't look like it'd work from any angle other than starign at the camera and I'm not sure that'd work for a playable character.

Being too specific about gameplay details is how fake leakers get themselves debunked in a hurry so...

I'll say it again, why can't people both not believe a leak an also discuss it? Just because the imgur leak is discussed on here does not mean everyone here believes it. People who don't want to talk about rumors constantly paint people that do as fools ravenous for information that will believe anything and flippantly change their minds as soon as the next rumor comes in. I don't think any of us discussing the rumors on here are like that, most people don't seem to believe them.

BUT they are fun to talk about! It's fun to speculate the possibility of Porky in a mech or Medusa etc etc. It's an excuse to talk about these characters and think, "Hmmm why would Sakurai add them?". It's speculation. Really starting to bum me out that every page in this thread there are multiple people judging others for having fun :\

I know there were issues of it in the past, but is there a real reason we can't have a separate rumor discussion thread? Seems like it would solve a lot of people's issues to keep them separate.

Yeah, that happens with all bosses, they are more scary if they are bigger, that's why the final boss of mario games is usually a giant bowser.

Yeah, that's a good point. Truth be told, "rumor" is a much better name for these kind of situations, as that's pretty much all they are.

I pretty much take that approach to rumors; I don't buy it unless there's something legit to back it up. But there's always that part of me that gets antsy about it potentially being real, ha ha. Oh well, I'll probably just walk away from the speculation stuff for a while and just patiently wait for E3. We'll all have a lot more fun things to discuss after all that anyway, which is probably why I'm so excited to see it. I don't typically get too caught up in game pre-release periods anymore, but Smash is an exception because of all the fun discussing it brings.

Needless to say, I am SO ready for June 12th. Bring it on, Nintendo!

That's you, and I'm me. I feel Porky is a more iconic character than others that are being requested everytime and I feel Mother deserves more than what is given.
But again, that's my opinion and Sakurai will do whatever Sakurai wants to do.

Looking at this sprite it is at least Bowser sized.
Ness is really small, and Porky would be around the same size. Inside the mech wouldn't look humongous.

But just to clarify, I do not take this rumor as real. I just really like the character choices and like to discuss them. To me it is fake until I am proven wrong.
The Vergeben rumour on the other hand looks much more feasible to me, although I have the same position on it.

Mario: A travelling stage on the Odyssey going through the different Kingdoms.

Yoshi: Any stage with giant Chain Chomps.

Donkey Kong: A minecart stage.

Wario: Anything from the Wario Land games.

Zelda: Grand Plateau. This should be a large stage.

Metroid: I have only played Metroid a long time ago and it was the original so I'm gonna say any classic stage would be cool.

Kirby: Anything somehow related to Dark Matter would be amazing.

Pokemon: Ultra Space.

Ice Climber: For their hopeful return I want an 8-bit stage.

Kid Icarus: An underworld style stage.

The design is not feasible as compared to the Earthbound mech.

I couldn't use Ganondorf because hes already in the game so...everybody in here knows Ganondorf exists...he isn't even in most games so calling him a rival feels kinda weird. (Mimikyu doesn't count it was just realised and Ganondorf was not.)

I kinda got the vibe that they were pretty hype newcomers, but that could be my own personal bias making me think that (Inklings were #1 on my wishlist).
