Because probably the leaker didn't saw it, it may have hear or read something of minecraft in smash but not being a character.

You know...I can see that perhaps it could be a smash Bros texture/skin pack for Minecraft on switch.
Like yknow Mario/Fox/Marth and such as Minecraft characters.

Could be like the whole Shovel Knight incident that happened during Smash 4 where the leaker thought the amiibo meant he was in the game.

Eggman from Sonic would fight nicely in the next Smash, if it's true that's playing around the concept of Good Vs Evil.

My second pick would go for the Megaman franchise, I'm really fond of its designs. Even minor character have really iconic and beautiful aesthetics to them; I would really like Cutman, Guts or Roll into the game.

I'd argue that Duck Hunt is still historical due to him representing the light gun, which has a long history with Nintendo (1970) and was a part of Nintendo's earliest arcade and electronic toy ventures. I get the intent, but I think a character like Sheriff, Diskun, Daitoryo, or some other oddball choice is more in line with what might actually happen.

If this is the theme you already know the roster, since the person who started this rumour made us the favour to share a roster as well. So you already know how it is going. If you think it is good or bad it is up to you.

I don’t understand why this rumor believes it’s going to be Heroes vs Villains theme when Smash is about characters fighting. Plus I really don’t see how Porky will work when his style of fighting could be too big (yes I went there)

Well- As I said on a early post, maybe the theme isn't literally "hero vs vilain" Maybe it just follow a dichotomy aesthetics of White and Black instead of COLORS for 4 or EPIC for Brawl-
And the Marketing team will sell us this as a Hero vs Vilain Because it happens to be that there more vilain than usual in the roster?

Ness is the same size as Kirby, one of the smallest characters in smash:

Nope, it was Brawl who oversized the mech. In the original series it is quite feasible.

The design philosophy for this roster is pretty damn terrible and reeks of "bias while trying to maintain the guise of not being biased."

- You say fan demand should supersede relevance for K. Rool...and then cut the ballot winner. You know, the character with undeniable, proven fan demand.
- You cut Lucario and Greninja despite them being incredibly popular both within and outside of the Pokémon fanbase.
- Random Wii Fit Trainer cut that'll never happen.
- Slightly more controversial due to being a clone, but again, Lucina is incredibly popular within the Fire Emblem community, once again going against your view that popularity should be everything.
- You claim ARMS doesn't have a main character when virtually every bit of marketing has Spring Man front and center. He's the Ryu of the game.
- You arbitrarily downplay Skull Kid's importance in Majora's Mask for...some reason?
- Your reasons for not adding Takamaru come down to "characters already in the game are better," which is a nothing statement.
- You claim Rhythm Heaven characters are "all stick figures" which is blatantly false.
- If a game "getting mixed reviews" mattered we wouldn't have modern Sonic.
- Your argument against Toad would work against Yoshi or any of the Pokémon.
- You use "dead franchises" as a reason against certain characters...after saying relevance shouldn't matter for K. Rool.
- Your Geno point makes no sense. People were EXCITED for it. If anything Geno hype increased because of it.
- You said you didn't want placeholders, and yet you added an FE 16 placeholder.

But most importantly, your post reeks of typical K. Rool desperation. The feeling that you need to bash characters like Rosalina for "stealing a spot" from your obese overlord. And that sentiment is all too common for my liking. You contradict your own pre-established rules when they don't help K. Rool, you show clear signs of ignorance when it comes to series you don't care about, and you make up blatant falsehoods to "back up" your design decisions.

And the worst part is, you're not alone. And it's attitudes like this that really turned me away from wanting K. Rool in Smash, because of cynical folks stuck in the nineties who refuse to see anything created after 2007 as "worthy." People like that give the better part of his support base a bad name, and it only got worse during ballot season. And as someone who used to be really excited about the prospect of K. Rool in Smash, it sucks. But when a not-insignificant portion of his fanbase insists on knocking everything that came out after he stopped being important, it just makes you think, "Are these the people that I want to be rewarded in the end?"

Call it a rant, but hey. Who cares?

- Bayonetta was cut by me because she's a R rated character in a game for both adults and kids. Some third party had to be cut. She's also definetly not the most wanted.
- I never once said I wanted the most popular. I actually just want the most deserving, which is why I didn't include Krystal or Wolf. It's a coincidence that my roster is full of popular characters lol.
- Wii Fit Trainer: Didn't even give a reason.
- Lucina: Popularity is not the only thing that matters.
- Spring Man: Eh. Still not that deserving since it's in its infancy.
- Skull Kid: Stop treating me like I'm a troll. I actually was wrong on this one.
- Takamaru: Still not that deserving.
- Rhythm Heaven: Maybe you're right.
- Sonic: I forgot to say this. Sonic has some good games, and ask anybody: that's enough to love a series. We love video games even though half of them suck.
- Toad: Yoshi and Pokemon feel like their own characters because there's a main Yoshi and a main Pikachu.
- Dead franchises: You're right.
- Geno isn't exactly the most popular guy anyway.
- I said I was careful against placeholders, not entirely against them.

You just look at facts without deriving much philosophy from them like a ****ing Nihilist (screw Nihilism, it's just a feeling people get when they've forgotten basic logic) or saying things similar to what others have said. Also, WOW. Getting angry because people want a game character.

Ahhh, perhaps I might be a bit oblivious today. The way Sonic Poke worded it made me think they left a custom roster somewhere on the Boards to corroborate their claims.

Ehnnnn, I just hope we get some serious curveballs as the announcements go on. I would be pretty disappointed to know the boards got just about every character right.

Welp, recent posters linked the new sticky, and I wouldn't be surprised if Cyandane is aware of the recent developments. Doesn't look to be updated on as efficient of a base as we might.

Either way, I think its going to be very important for discussion's sake to create a clear distinction between leaks and rumors. So far, we haven't had any leaks per sé of any in-game footage, assets, press forms, etc. We have a lot of rumors going around claiming to be from internal sources, however.

The only character from this leak that I am not exited for is Goroh. I'd rather have Black Shadow to retain Ganon's disrespectful set in order to declone him.

There is a good reason why I believe the Earthbound would had the best chance... in Mother 3, Porky cannot move, only use his mouth, but he is just there, laying in his spider mech, unable to defend himself.
His Earthbound desing would have him a lot more of movility inside that spider mech and more fun animations.
...
But I think his spider mech in mother 3 is cooler, much more colorful and the pig nose is a cool detail.
