Poor characters, now that they are confirmed, nobody care about what will be done with them.

But I care about them... It's just I know next to nothing about Splatoon and I need Smash to learn about them.

Why is greninja a villain?

If we're still talking about the tone of the trailer, I don't get what's so intriguing about it. It's literally just a reverse of what they pulled with Smash 4: instead of starting with the Smash shaped flames, they ended with it. They'll probably continue the trailer with the normal tone at E3 since I don't think we'll ever drastically shift from Smash 4's artstyle as its whole point was to portray the characters similarly to how they appeared in their home series.

Like how Villager got a letter of invitation and it never seen again? Probably.
It's just trailer divided Splatoon's fun atmosphere from Smash completely. It likely means nothing in the long run but I really wonder what was the message they were trying to get across with.

If I recall, the first official trailer for Smash 3DS / Wii U didn't feel so dark in nature.

Anyway, the Smash Switch teaser likely means two things; a new Smash Bros. installment, and the Inklings are the first newcomers to be confirmed.

Why is greninja a villain?

For Falcon, no idea why.
Greninja and Charizard could be villains depending on your starter, but it would be closer to rivals.
Mewtwo is the "final boss" in Gen 1.
Mimikyu is a psychopath in the anime.
It's really just to try adding villains to Pokémon, as they could all be your allies or your ennemies (Pikachu and Jiggly included).

But characters' appearence was normal? At least Inklings. It was just lightning and tone was weird. These are more linked with GUI, music and if there is any, story's atmosphere.

He's his own series but he's still heavily connected to mario and takes place in the same universe as it, the yoshi series of games, just like the wario series are still sub-series of mario and the fact that both characters show up in mario and it's spin-offs shows that. But If yoshi had a cast of characters that would fit into smash then they would and should get in but as it stands right now it really doesn't, kamek is the closest but he's still largely a standard enemy. That's what puts wario having a second rep over yoshi imo since wario has his own separate cast of characters.

Hmmm, I think something is getting lost in translation here. Let me make myself clear here. "I, Zinith, do NOT advocate for more Yoshi characters. If it seems like I do that, it is to go along with a premise and nothing more." So no, I'm not saying that a Yoshi rep is just as likely as a Wario rep, but that is irrelevant to people treating Yoshi as lesser because his series is "sub"

Unfortunately, Dedede really isn't a villain, while Mewtwo is neutral. As such, they'd probably feel out of place in a group that consists of pure villains.

Brawl was the "epic"/edgy them, with that over realisms details on characters and the Main theme being a whole epic chorus. It also translated on the Blazing Logo "Brawl or X in Japan" and the menu itself
Smash For.'s theme seems to be..."colors" yes, whenever it's the more cartoonish aesthetic of the games as a whole, the rainbow characters shadow in the menu on Wii U. The colored menu EVERYWHERE, the 3DS CSS being full of colors and the main theme sounding more friendly and casual heck, Villager get INVITED to smash.

So this trailer could give us hint about the general theme of smash switch, whenever it can be a black/white aesthetic from what is used for promotion for it so far (so nothing beside logo/Website/Invitational announcement) or the mystic/epic/heroic tunes that we hear in the trailer.

It's looking great. The only thing about is that I would add in Dixie Kong too for another DK character and Lyn for Fire Emblem, but overall you did an amazing job on the roster.

And that's only in a bad timeline that's no longer canon by the end of Awakening because of time travel shenanigans.

The Robin from Smash is clearly not in that state either, especially since Chrom fights with him.

Smash 4 and 5's reveal trailers are entirely different beasts and shouldn't be compared, imo.

One was a reveal that showed a lot of stuff and the other was just a teaser designed to say "hey, this game exists"

Mate, if they are going with a heroes vs. villains theme, Meowth would be a great choice. I can already see him scheming with the likes of Waluigi and Skull Kid.

I'm a complete Lycanroc fanboy, so I just wanted to point something out. As of today's episode in the anime, Lycanroc managed to:

• Learn Stone Edge
• Learn Counter
• Control its "enraged form" and use it as a power-up
• Win its second Grand Trial
• Win Lycanium Z

This was all in the span of three episodes. Really hope this push in the anime is hinting toward a presence in Smash (probably doesn't, but I'll continue to straw-grasp regardless).

What? That's amazing! I'm Lycanroc fan too so this is great news for me too, can't wait too see what Splintered Stormshards look like. The name is already epic enough so just imagine the move itself in the anime. I'm hoping this could potentially give Lycancroc a presence in Smash too, maybe, maybe not, only time will tell

Unironically a lot First party characters.
Because E3 seems to be the "third party hype party" and if we get none/Only One it means there no to little chance for more of them beside DLC

(Also never understood hating/disliking Third Parties. Probably because all of the Third party we had are Famous gaming icons and not random nobodies.)
