Can't see Super Smash Bros. working on an arcade. The problem is that arcade sticks has digital input while Super Smash Bros. games rely heavily on analog input.

Sure, Super Smash Flash 2 & Super Smash Bros. Crusade (and the Nintendo 3DS version of Cartoon Network: Punch Time Explosion) are doing fine with digital movement but REAL Smash games need analog movement.
Arcade games can and have been controlled in a myriad of different ways, from steering wheels to motion controls to yes, analog joysticks. I'm sure replicating Smash controls in an arcade cabinet would not be an issue.

If it were to happen, I think the decision would be made more from looking into the past and less on where things stand now.
It would make sense every Smash Brothers game seems to play catch up with the demands and popularity of characters both new and old from the last game's development cycle.

Uh, hopefully they don't delay the game?

(Wasn't that delay thing confirmed fake, anyway?)
Was it? If it's true I don't mind to be honest. And if it is true they should tell everyone right off the bat. Someone on NeoGaf said the posting was legit even though it got taken down.

My dream would come true if Geno got confirmed and nailed shut the ancient Geno v Ridley war of the bygone era. :p
Plus a reveal trailer that contained both of them would be boss.

Rosalina, Samus, Fox, Ridley, Olimiar and Geno in one giant ass fight in space.

Bonus points if Falcon, Wolf, and Falco were squeezed in somehow as well.

I'm hoping that one of three characters get revealed:

Takamaru
Ridley
Wonder Red

But any newcomer would be cool to see.

Right. You can see that with characters like Villager, Skull Kid and Ashley.

Plus i don't think the game would come out in 2015..we all ready have a lot of details including half the cast. From what i've heard they are pretty close to getting it done

Agreed. But then again, Brawl got delayed like, four times and by the time it actually released, there was so much info out there that the updates started having less and less to talk about.

Typo perhaps?
More then likely. And even if Super Smash Bros is released in 2015, it certainly won't be both versions. Iwata has been banking to hard on the Wii U version being released this year to allow the game to fall behind schedule unless something very dramatic has happened in development. From what we've seen the game looks relatively far along.

Plus, we don't even have a release date.

I'm really believing in the arcade version theory for some reason, but rationally a delay or DLC make the most sense.

I figured out the what the smash direct banner was hinting at.

Pikachu's ears are the only things leaving their appropriate box.
They point to Fox and and Bowser

Fox+pikachu+bowser = a space dragon(?) villain with an electric center/core

Meta-Ridley confirmed :troll:
Metroid post the day before the reveal.
Yeah, I'm good. :troll:

Guess we'll see. But stranger things have happened. IMO I honestly wouldn't be surprised if there was a delay.

I don't really think keeping it 100% same in both versions will really help the Wii U much.
It won't. I foresee a lot of the casual crowd who can't afford/are on the fence about buying WiiUs settling for the 3DS version instead since it's technically the "same game."

For this reason (as well as the WiiU's struggles in general) I don't think the WiiU version will be able to compete with the amount of sales Brawl achieved.

I actually hope for Wii U version differences, so it can be saved. 3D World helped a bit, and Mario Kart will help, but the Wii U needs more than the red plumber to live. I actually see potential in the Wii U, but it needs more powerhouses.

lol I don't hate Miis, they're extremely relevant and important to Nintendo, and they've become a big part of the company. Most people who hate Miis are those poor deluded fools that can't enjoy a good casual game because it hurts their hardcoreness.

I mean, god, the Mii hate is so unfounded! And the visual argument...are you ********? Have you even seen Mr. Game & Watch, he clashes visually, and that's what makes him so special, the charm about the Miis is how simple they are, and still, they can represent someone perfectly.

I mean, I personally don't want to see the Miis on this particular Direct, but I'd be kinda bummes out if they didn't make it because they're Nintendo All-Stars and the Mii series has some inmensely memorable games.
First off, call me "********" again and I'll report you. I get very offended by that word.

I don't mind casual games at all, I just don't like the bland avatar status Miis are supposed to represent when they are not representing "yourself". I don't want to play as myself in a video game, I want to take the role of other characters with actual personalities and acquire their aspects to escape reality. What character do Miis have? "Yaaaaaay!" "Yeah!" "Haha!" . They can't properly establish their own personalities because they are relegated to represent yourself. Which sucks. I'm not saying all Nintendo characters have amazing personalities, but for the ones that do, I like to embrace their status when I play as them.

Fine, after seeing that pic from Nintendo Land (I don't have a Wii U) I'll admit they look slightly better. Slightly. But they wouldn't clash enough to make them "special" in this game enough. They are 3D, Game and Watch is 2D. Miis would not even come close to the brilliant uniqueness appearance wise as Game an Watch would in Smash.

I honestly think Villager is a good enough representation of Miis, he basically looks like one anyways and uses random objects.

But I don't deny the fact that they're inevitable.

I wouldn't worry about a delay yet, since the release isn't concrete yet. The whole reason they've given us the incredibly vague "2014" release date is because they don't want to go giving us a concrete date when there might be reason to still be unsure if the game will be released this year. They simply give us that vague date to keep us hyped and interested.

I really, REALLY, REALLY hope there isn't a delay. No matter how amazing (and it will be) Mario Kart 8 will be, the Wii U cant make it on just that alone. Even if both version didn't come out at the same time, I could at least see the Wii U version happening first then the 3DS version coming out later. The install base for the 3DS is already there. The Wii U needs all the help it can get. What other major games for Wii U are coming out? Not many. I mean sure, Hyrule Warriors, Fire Emblem X SMT and X are happening at some point but those games seem pretty far off from being completed anytime soon.

Agreed the one thing it really lacks at this point is a quality library of console sellers.

I'm really surprised that Nintendo wasn't smart enough to figure out that they couldn't simply rely on gimmicks anymore like they did with the Wii. They should have had games like SM3DW, DKCTF, and WWHD ready to go at launch.

Nintendo Direct site just got a new skin! They are really going all out with this one.

What on earth are they going to show? The wait is killing me!!!

I was right..we are going to get something similar to Super Street Fighter 4
What you mean multiple iterations of the same game? I hope not, I would loose excitement for Ultra Super Smash Bros: Turbo Edition.
I hope its just the workings of an arcade booth version of Smash like how one was done for Mario Kart.

I think it's obvious that a new character reveal will happen, considering the ominous placement of the roster on the stream page.

I'll only accept the Mario Kart arcade approach if it also becomes available for home console one way or the other. Finding any nearby place that has the Mario Kart games is almost impossible (that's why I emulated Mario Kart Arcade GP 2).
