Changes are not 100% final, please share your thoughts on the changes.

Super Mario Franchise

- Waluigi has been moved to WarioWare / Land

The Legend of Zelda Franchise

- Sheik has been confirmed to be a separate playable character.
- With the official removal of transformation characters, the possibility of Toon Sheik has been essentially destroyed. As Toon Sheik would only be able to make it in through Toon Zelda as a transformation.

Metroid Franchise

- Zero Suit Samus has been confirmed to be a separate playable character.
- Ridley's status is all over the place, so he's a question mark now.
- Dark Samus have been confirmed to be an assist trophy.

Yoshi's Island Franchise

- Yoshi has been confirmed to be a playable character.
- Magikoopas have been shown to be enemies in Smash Run, the chances of Kamek appearing are now slim to none.

Pokémon Franchise

- Charizard has been confirmed to be a separate playable character.
- Mega Lucario has been confirmed to be a part of Lucario's moveset.
- Mega Charizard X has been confirmed to be a part of Charizard's moveset.
- Greninja has been confirmed to be a playable character and has been added to the chart.
- Due to the removal of Transformation characters, the chances of a Pokémon Trainer appearing have significantly dropped to none.
- Meowth has been shown to be a Pokéball Pokémon.
- Zoroark has been seen in Greninja and Charizard's reveal trailer. Thus deconfirming it.

F-Zero Franchise

- Samurai Goroh has been revealed as an assist trophy.

Fire Emblem Franchise

- Lyn has been revealed as an assist trophy.

WarioWare / Land Franchise

- Waluigi is now part of the WarioWare / Land franchise.

Pre-Super Smash Bros. 64 Franchises

- Devil has been revealed as an returning assist trophy.
- Devil's franchise logo remains to be the Smash Logo, deconfirming Tamagon.
- Lip's Stick has been revealed as a returning item, essentially deconfirming Lip.

Pre-Super Smash Bros. Melee Franchises

- Saki has been revealed to be an returning assist trophy.
- Saki's franchise logo remains to be the Smash Logo, deconfirming Isa.
- Tom Nook has been revealed to be a part of the Villager's Final Smash "Dream House".

Pre-Super Smash Bros. Brawl Franchises

- Nintencats have been revealed to be in the background of the Nintendogs stage, "Living Room".

Your Potential Cast as of April 9th, 2014

Might I make another suggestion, AEM?

Considering Sal Romano's newer leak (which got one down right off the bat; a Pokemon from X/Y), for Rhythm Heaven, I suggest adding the Chorus Kids.

I think I might have overreacted. I'll continue the discussion when I'm not under a great deal of stress. Then maybe we can come to an understanding.

Sure, I'll get on that later.

Um, guys? Should we really count Lip out just yet? I mean, I guess I'm just one of those people who support her, so forgive me for mentioning this, but look at Ness and the Home-Run Bat, I mean they're in the same place anyway. BTW, should we do something about BF and Alice? I mean the 3DS version has a Balloon Fight stage and normally, I wouldn't count this as anything, but I doubt they would show a stage like that and the Villager only references BF though his up-B. I just don't think they would make something as big as a Balloon Fight stage and not add him as a playable character (and/or Alice.)

The Home-Run Bat is a Smash-original item. It is not from Earthbound.
Made even more obvious with the redesign.

Seems like we should have Zoroark in green what with all the other assumptions dictating things on the chart.

Going back to Balloon Fighter from the last page, I agree that we should un-deconfirm him because of the stage and logo.

Everyone, don't get ahead of yourselves with the Balloon Fighter Stage. Remember Smashville in Brawl?

I'm with Guybrush in this situation.
Balloon Fighter is already heavily referenced by Villager as it is. I can concede that Balloon Fighter may not have a special based on Villager's move "Balloon Trip" but the name of the move itself should make it obvious that the character is most likely not going to show up outside of a trophy of some form.
The same goes to Alice.

Seems like we should have Zoroark in green what with all the other assumptions dictating things on the chart.
Alright, I'll do that too when I get the next version ready.

is it not possible that we'll get a grass starter to go with charizard and greninja perhaps we should consider added some to the chart?

Maybe but A. There's other more likley Pokemon and B. There's too many options even if we discount Chespin and Snivy's lines.

true if theres going to be 5th pokemon its most likely going to be jigglypuff

i would say that if it was venasaur then surely it would be blastoise not greninja and somehow i dont think wed get torterra and lucario so it may just be between meganium and sceptile

Just a minor nitpick, but Mega Charizard X's blue background is a bit hard to see.

What, the Sakurai hiding on Greninja like you said you would add?
well jeez

I was referring to the question mark in my quote about alternate costumes. Not, the one on Ridley.
Oh.
Yes well, they're gonna stay purple right now, yeah. But I suppose making them blue colored wouldn't hurt either, I may make Smash Run / Enemy NPCs Purple...
I'll get back to you on that.

I didn't get those motions Sakurai was doing.

Was he doing the "Directly! To you!" thing, but the translator didn't catch on?

He's was probably making fun of Iwata for making him do that.
The translator probably didn't get that he was saying "Diiiiiiiiiiiiirector of Super Smash Brothers" at the end.

A bit of that and Sakurai's shoulder pains making him legitimately wince in pain when performing those motions. Remember his mention of having those issues a little while ago in an interview?

Yes, we are all laughing at man in physical pain.

Too late. Don't stop. Keeping laughing.

Laugh at his pain.

Makes sense.

It also looked like he was in pain while doing it.
"Yes, I'm still alive."

EDIT: Greninja'd.
At least on the pain aspect.

And, while it doesn't mean it has a character, the stage had its own logo.

Um, I was saying exactly what I said.
And I was saying that previous stages without playable characters have had franchise logos as well. Besides, Balloon Fighter and Alice lost their chances Day 1 when Villager was shown to have Balloon Trip has an Up Special.

While Golden makes a fair argument saying that Balloon Fighter doesn't need to use that sort of technique in his moveset, the move is an obvious homage to the iconic position Balloon Fighter is known for. I highly doubt that they would give this to Balloon Fighter specifically.

If Balloon Fighter is playable, then there should be another possible way he can be unique with the balloons. We should not discount him yet.
I already addressed this, they would still not give his iconic technique to another character.

It makes no sense.

No, probably not.

Does he have Little Mac's signature thing?
-Eh... boxing. Not super unique to Mac. His thing is almost more the Meter.
Does it really even make sense to have as a move for villager?
--no... not at all. At all at all. Especially since BF was ever once an idea.... who I'm sure he recognizes could, at any point in the future come back on the table (or be gone forever). It would pretty much discount BF forever if it doesnt now. Or it would be changes visually. The extreme absurdity almost leads me to believe it is there to be misleading.
Are we absolutely sure BFs up B is Villagers jump?
--no... I don't think so, it COULD be an item, or a fighting mode.
Is that likely?
--No, but Sakurai is honestly throwing us off at every possible turn, so it isnt incredibly unlikely as he is trying his damndest to make this game wildly unpredictable, one of a kind, balanced in many respects (roster, fighting, etc).

Pretty much everyone in the game punches. That's a situation that's much more understandable.

...Er, you kinda lost me there.
You're suggesting that the Balloon Trip special is there to be misleading, yes?

The Direct and a previous Pic of the Day confirmed that Villager's Up Special is Balloon Trip.

Well, punching gloves.

Balloon trip special there to be misleading, or something
Just potentially, as in, I don't expect it, but something like this wouldn't surprise me.

Yes, I had a feeling I was intentionally blocking that out :X

My feeling is, if it discredits B.F., it discredits Tingle as well, considering Tingle also uses balloons (and even has a game where he replaces B.F. for a Balloon Fight remake).

Well, my point was that they made a Balloon Fight stage and considering that it would seem very weird for them to add such a stage when the Villager only represents B.F through an up-B, so I don't know, I mean, don't forget that according to Sakurai recently, the Villager was supposed to be in Brawl, alongside Smashville but was later cut due to a certain well-known remark he made about Animal Crossing during Brawl's development and don't also forget that Sakurai himself had stated during development of Melee B.F was considered for inclusion as a playable character in Melee before getting replaced by the Ice Climbers. So, maybe B.F might be playable in SSB4 (or maybe Alice, I don't know.)
