Repair? How did it get broken so fast?Yay, today my Wii U is being shipped back to me after I sent it for repairs. Can't wait to finish DKCTF (and other games) when I get it back.
He did say he was trying to evolve the franchise, so this is making Brawl look like it's outdated. So, I was bored and decided to go back and watch this video and something struck me... to those who were here in the preBrawl days, does it kind of weird you out how dated the graphics look now? The tiniest details I couldn't have cared less about back in the day now stick out like a sore thumb. Granted, I thought the same about Melee when the Brawl stuff was coming out and I don't doubt I'll feel the same way with the next Smash game but it just strikes me because I remember drooling over so much of it back in the day and, in the grand scheme of things, 6 years really wasn't that long ago...
This is because Suepr Smash Bros. Brawl had a lackluster art direction. Many things like lighting and color were rather dull, it just lacked a bit of pop that made it stand out, which is compounded by many of the characters themselves being pretty flat and in some cases causes an uncanny valley effect. I would probably blame the fact that due to the varies developers involved, it caused an inconsistent sort of style that in general hurt the presentation. So, I was bored and decided to go back and watch this video and something struck me... to those who were here in the preBrawl days, does it kind of weird you out how dated the graphics look now? The main thing that strikes me is how expressionless the characters are for the most part. Aside from subtle eyebrow and mouth changes, most of the characters look rather deadpan most of the time. Aside from Dedede and Luigi, nobody changes that much from their default looks. Also, as a million people have already pointed out, Brawl is incredibly washed out color scheme wise. It's not as bad as, say, Gears of War or Twilight Princess but it goes to show how the last generation (Wii/360/PS3) defined "realistic" in a lot of games. He did say he was trying to evolve the franchise, so this is making Brawl look like it's outdated.
That's kind of the irony isn't it, we got HD last gen but for the most part the realistic games gave us a washed out word that has less color then even the real world does. Kind of takes a way a few of the realism points or at least I did for me which is why the realism conversation got very tiring during last gen.The main thing that strikes me is how expressionless the characters are for the most part. Add in: Heh, Xenoblaze beat me to it.
I've been taking good care of it. For some darn reason the GamePad could not get a stable connection to the console even when it's 3 feet awayRepair? How did it get broken so fast?
Have you like dropped a Nokia on it or somethin' !?
It's not realistic until everyone is wearing speedos and bikinis, there are giant robots everywhere, heavy metal plays all the time, and zombies outbreaks occur more often then pimples.Realism? Bring on the dry colors and grittiness. It makes the worlds REALISTIC.
What? You want a game with bright colors? That is kiddy. Go play your babby games and let us hardcore players BASK on the brown REALISTIC worlds.

And you have to kill Nazis. It just isn't a good game if you don't kill Nazis. It's not realistic until everyone is wearing speedos and bikinis, there are giant robots everywhere, heavy metal plays all the time, and zombies outbreaks occur more often then pimples.
Oh, and don't forget american flags. MURICA.

The funniest thing about this is the fact that that means that South Park: The Stick of Truth is one of the most realistic games ever. And you have to kill Nazis. It just isn't a good game if you don't kill Nazis.

Smash Bros in real life
I liked Zelda 2http://wiiudaily.com/2014/03/walmart-zelda-wii-u/
Probably should be taken with a grain of salt.
But if true, it could good for Smash. "Zelda 2" could possibly be Nintendo's 2014 holiday (November-December) game and not smash.
...
I'm also interested in seeing how this game will look.
Where's your proof? You guys do realize your the reason for PUSHING Sak into making a Smash4. HE never wanted to make a new one. So It's not his fault but your fault. Brawl was doing fine with Pm and so on. Now, you guys are unhappy and we are unhappy towards Wi-Fi being canceled, due to the die hard fans that DEMANDED a new Smash game.
Wait a go! Now, I'm curious If Nintendo ever wanted to make a Wii-U... I doubt that either, people just like to push change without UNDERSTANDING the CONSEQUENCES of all this. Meh, I've seen dumber things done by fans. But, this is a top ten for sure. Good day~
Bikinis? Giant robots everywhere? American Flags? Sounds like a recipe for a Michael Bay trailer:It's not realistic until everyone is wearing speedos and bikinis, there are giant robots everywhere, heavy metal plays all the time, and zombies outbreaks occur more often then pimples.

Yoshi, Wario, Meta Knight, Ice Climbers, and Jigglypuff are names I've seen associated with the coming months (March-April-May). For April's Direct, Takamaru seems the likeliest Newcomer reveal, though I think I've seen theorizing of a Fire Emblem Newcomer for that Direct around here also.Hasn't this become the longest hiatus between character announcements since Marth / Rosalina & Luma?
I hope the reveals don't get slower now.
I hope we get at least 4 other characters before E3.
2? Last time I checked, the Wii U Zelda game will be the 18th one.http://wiiudaily.com/2014/03/walmart-zelda-wii-u/

7! I counted 7! Do I get anything?Bikinis? Giant robots everywhere? American Flags? Sounds like a recipe for a Michael Bay trailer:

For real, how many American flags can you find?

That assumes people know the characters' name in Japanese. lol
Takamaru could be revealed alongside either a new Murasame Castle game or the original game on the VC. There have been a few rumors about an international release of Takamaru's game on the VC. Some of them came from the fact some age rating companies had the game listed on their website.Yoshi, Wario, Meta Knight, Ice Climbers, and Jigglypuff are names I've seen associated with the coming months (March-April-May). On the other hand, Newcomers (and Third-Parties) have all been revealed exclusively during global Directs (and E3). And April is Murasame's anniversary (since the game came out in April of 1986). Since Mac was shown off in February on account of Punch-Out's 30th Anniversary, the Newcomer-Direct-Anniversary connection might not be without merit.Takamaru could be revealed alongside either a new Murasame Castle game or the original game on the VC. I have a feeling there will be a character reveal this week. You know, one of those unexpected ones.
Zelda 2: Electric Boogaloo
Only one?Probably should be taken with a grain of salt.
It could well be that Rosalina was showcased in December simply because it was the closest Direct to 3D World (even if the game had already been released). Though it could indeed have been the product of whim and happenstance. Similarly, Sakurai certainly could have showcased Mac in February without the Punch-Out anniversary in mind. But it's rather serendipitous regardless.I'm honestly of the mindset that there's not really a reason for why a Newcomer is specifically picked for their reveal time. Rosalina wasn't revealed for any anniversary and 3D world came out a month earlier then the Direct so there was no underlying reason for her. Similarly, while Punch Out! did come out in February, Sakurai did not note or show any recognition of that anniversary like he did 64 or Brawl, so it's arguable that it was the case for his reveal as well.
So I think in all honestly the next newcomer is just going to be one he wants to reveal at the time, not because there's something special to be had in revealing them. It could be Takamaru or an FE newcomer, but I wouldn't put too much stock on them then others.
