Here is an interesting theory I got regarding newcomers for this game. Forget about new characters from franchises we know and love. What about the other franchises that havent debut yet. In Brawl we had 6 new franchises. Wario, Kid icarus, Pikmin, Gyromite, Sonic and Metal Gear. Now for 4 we got confirmed 4 new franchises being represented by the fighters. Animal Crossing, Megaman, Wii Fit and Punch-out. Can we say we got another 2 they will add or even more for that matter?
Murasame Castle (via Takamaru) is a prime example. I can see 1-2 more in addition to that, when it comes to not-yet-represented franchises.

I think they will expand the roster with new series. It's nice to have a big variety.

Why have three Links and another sword when you can have the Salesman who would use the three transformation masks and the rest of the masks?Would rather have Masked Link.

As big of a Paper Mario fan as I am, I really don't want Paper Mario in the game.
I personally feel like we:
1) Already have a pretty good representation of the Super Mario series.
2) I'm not a fan of having multiple variations of the same character. (Good and Evil Cole from PSABR anyone?)
Even with Toon Link, so far he has been a major disappointment for me. His moveset varies very little from Link, and I would be more happier if Toon Link actually incorporated items from Wind Waker rather than just simply using the same items with different art style and aesthetic from Link. But that's just me. Hopefully he gets some tweaks before the game's release.

This is just my opinion but:
1) I think it would makes more sense that he has his own serie. The reason it makes sense is because his serie works so differently than the main one. You have a platformer and an rpg there's so many point different here that I don't even think paper mario is a super mario character (or at least, it feels different enough for me but still)
2) Yes I heard this agument alot but first, you shouldn't worry about the toon link situation imo, paper mario is a toon link decloned. As for your main concern which is 2 version of same character, I already said my opinion in the paper mario thread but I can summarize it by saying that yes he is a mario but especially when I play paper mario ttyd, he feels so different that I don't even consider it as A mario but as ANOTHER mario the former is like dr mario (so they are clone) and the later is like you wished: a toon link decloned and using wind waker items (the problem here is imo, I don't think you could make him feel different enough even if you try this that is not the case to paper mario due to how unique he is).
Your first point is debatable but the second depends on how you interprets it you can either say that it's the same to have striker mario, mario in a kart, mario with a golf club (yeah you get the idea) or you can say that because this character is unique and feels different enough from his counterpart, that it would be a great inclusion.

Wario's hella manly. He's fat but he's also jacked and goofy strong, he drives a chopper he made himself, he can fart hard enough to launch himself over a house, he's an entrepreneur, and he can eat whole bulbs of garlic raw. Have you ever eaten raw garlic before? It's almost as bad as eating wasabi and that fact that he can eat it with an IDGAF attitude is pretty manly in my opinion.

I feel like every Mario Kart games should have Mario characters that have troubles staying "relevant", like E.Gadd, Fawful, K.Rool (and other DK chars,but K.Rool being in spin-offs more often would be cool.), but of all things, what's the deal with Queen Bee? I wouldn't care if she was cut.

I agree with Moon, Paper Mario is still Mario, just in a different art style. Toon Link is bad enough, but at least he's a completely different person who isn't even blood related to the other Links. If Paper Mario is different enough just because his games are RPGs, then we may as well have Sports Mario, Party Mario, Olympic Mario, Falcon Mario Kart Mario, Dr. Mario again, etc. Mario himself already represents every Mario game in the first place, Paper Mario is not some separate entity.
