I agree with Moon, Paper Mario is still Mario, just in a different art style. Toon Link is bad enough, but at least he's a completely different person who isn't even blood related to the other Links. If Paper Mario is different enough just because his games are RPGs, then we may as well have Sports Mario, Party Mario, Olympic Mario, Falcon Mario Kart Mario, Dr. Mario again, etc. Mario himself already represents every Mario game in the first place, Paper Mario is not some separate entity.

This proves my point I said earlier. Either you can say that having him means that any paper mario variation would be good, or because he feels different than mario, say that it is a great addition. (btw yes I interpret the toon link situation the same with paper mario toon link feels different and unique to his counterpart so is paper mario imo)

Also, I disagree with "paper mario feels different only because of his art style and RPG serie". He has so much potential that it goes even further (partner abilities, paper power, hammer with badges, stylish, sticker etc...). Even if it's not enough for you please consider this: Toon link is from a zelda game that tried to have a completely different art style so the characters and environment feels different than previous zelda games. Now let's applies this to the paper mario serie it's the same + RPG elements. The only thing that is not the same from each situation is that paper mario looks like mario but as I said I think he's more of ANOTHER mario than A mario.

This is just my opinion but:

1) I think it would makes more sense that he has his own serie. The reason it makes sense is because his serie works so differently than the main one. You have a platformer and an rpg there's so many point different here that I don't even think paper mario is a super mario character (or at least, it feels different enough for me but still)

2) Yes I heard this agument alot but first, you shouldn't worry about the toon link situation imo, paper mario is a toon link decloned. As for your main concern which is 2 version of same character, I already said my opinion in the paper mario thread but I can summarize it by saying that yes he is a mario but especially when I play paper mario ttyd, he feels so different that I don't even consider it as A mario but as ANOTHER mario the former is like dr mario (so they are clone) and the later is like you wished: a toon link decloned and using wind waker items (the problem here is imo, I don't think you could make him feel different enough even if you try this that is not the case to paper mario due to how unique he is).

Your first point is debatable but the second depends on how you interprets it you can either say that it's the same to have striker mario, mario in a kart, mario with a golf club (yeah you get the idea) or you can say that because this character is unique and feels different enough from his counterpart, that it would be a great inclusion.

I can understand the argument that Paper Mario can be considered another series, but when you really boil it down it's just Mario on parchment paper that can do everything Mario does in the Mario & Luigi rpg games. Paper Mario could possibly use his partners for moveset variety but eh...

Your last sentence really is the thing I have an issue with. I would very much prefer a game that includes other characters from other franchises like Shulk, Takamaru, Issac and Ray than to have a roster with Metal Mario, Paper Mario, Baby Mario, Dr. Mario, Golf Mario etc... Are really content with having a roster with multiple Marios than new characters entirely?

Just to clarify, my goal isn't flamming for me, a debate is good when the participant share their opinion so that everyone could see something in a different way and so it may leads to more accurate opinion (not the best the more accurate). The goal of a debate for me isn't to convince someone but just share our opinion and make our opinion more accurate and it doesn't mean to change it just to see how fact can be interpreted in a different way than ours. I'm happy if I learn something or if my opponents does because we can see how our opinion might be incompatible.

This month, I expect Yoshi and something Pokemon related for New Island and Battle Trozei, respectively.
April, a newcomer and a random (possibly Ice Climbers thanks to NES Remix 2).
May, a random and Wario for Mario Kart 8, though this I'm unsure of.

Well, tbh, I agree that there's should be priorities that makes paper mario have less chance and it just makes sense. Game and Wario was out before Awakening, I think, so I'm just thinking to games that he could be revealed for in the future.

Since the Mario characters have been shown, and Yoshi will either be on the 14th or during the summer, Wario is really the only one left.

Even with Toon Link, so far he has been a major disappointment for me. His moveset varies very little from Link, and I would be more happier if Toon Link actually incorporated items from Wind Waker rather than just simply using the same items with different art style and aesthetic from Link. But that's just me. Hopefully he gets some tweaks before the game's release.

I agree that's one of the reasons im hoping for tetra i mean when toon link was announce for brawl i was ecstatic i thought he do most his moves from wind waker and use the wind waker as a weapon too i was expecting too much though

So I am hopeful for Toon Link, especially after looking at Bowser and Pit. But yeah I am a bit let down at this very moment and time about his known moveset.

Would love to see him glide and shoot gusts of wind using the deku leaf. He's suppose to be the Wind Waker use wind damnit!

@ Paper Mario Discussion: I didn't like Sticker Star all that much. I really missed the partner system. The sticker system really just encouraged players to avoid battles and save your stickers rather than use them. You received no XP which added to your reason to avoid battles. That game is an example of how accessibility has negatively impacted a game in my opinion.

I'm not sure if I like the idea of the Deku Leaf really. It kinda feels like we would be getting a F.L.U.D.D. 2.0 to me and people generally didn't really enjoy Mario's F.L.U.D.D. .... I wouldn't mind it being used in a similar way as Peach and Game & Watch used their Parasol/Parachute though.

Honestly, I'd just like to see Toon Link gain the Hurricane Spin, the ability to crawl, maybe Fire and Ice Arrows with maybe the ability to aim with them (like the Cracker Launcher) and probably the Bomb-Chu's too. Maybe differentiate his Smash attacks a bit more too.

Something tells me some of Toon Link potential weaponry would probably be given to Tetra if she becomes playable. Such as the Grappling Hook.

Those were just examples. I just want Toon Link to do SOMETHING that shows that he is the hero of the winds...besides waking the wind waker around as a taunt.

I do like the idea of him using fire and ice arrows, do you think the chances of him using fire, ice or normal arrows would be random on initiation like how King DDD's waddle dee throw is random?
