Trust me, I like Snake. Heck if I'm really hoping he's back (I did find him unique).
I'm just not sure he'll return with what's been happening.

I understand that, and am not entirely confident in his security myself. But "doesn't fit" or "is irrelevant" or whatever the anti-Snake brigade is currently spouting certainly wouldn't be why he got axed if that were to come to pass.

I wouldn't even know where to go for a second Sega franchise. Do you go for a series that has had most of its successful on a Nintendo platform, or go to one of their 16-bit games to make it feel more classic, or do you just go for a Sega franchise that is popular now?

The problem is first.
We need a character that's just as popular. Which is hard enough.
Second is being iconic to Nintendo, Sonic and Nintendo go way back. Same with Megaman.
We need someone to match that.

I'm curious, if Ridley ends up getting in, if people will start proclaiming him to be "on the chopping block" next game because Sakurai might decide "he doesn't fit" anymore or whatever, like they're doing for Snake. That argument always came off as a poorly-concealed statement of "I don't like the character, therefore he should and will go."

"Snake doesn't fit in" is completely inaffective as an agruement. He fits very well in the Smash universe despite the misconceptions surrounding mature games from consumers. He's badass, hilarious and fits right into Smash.

Ridley also is like Ganondorf- he shows the darkside of a series. If Ridley doesn't fit in then Ganondorf doesn't either. (And does that make sense? No it doesn't.)

The only reason Snake would go is if Konami or Nintendo decide to not get the rights to Snake. Which can happen. Not because Sakurai thinks Snake wouldn't fit or some bull like that. I doubt Snake will return unless Konami turns a new leaf, but many anti-Snakers (completely unrelated to Mario Kart) are using the wrong reasons and they sound like people who haven't ever played a Metal Gear game.

Alex Kidd, Toe Jam and Earl, Shinobi, Altered Beast, Golden Axe, Super Monkey Ball, Nights, Vectorman, Phantasy Star, Shenmue..... Sega has a lot of great franchises, but none have the Star power of Sonic.

I would play a Sega Smash in a heartbeat, though.

Miiverse is primarily used by younger audiences as their sort of community and expect primarily less mature people. I'm not saying younger audiences are stereotypically immature, but when it comes to stuff where they don't really understand the consequences, they are going to not really take it seriously.

I'll take that any day of the week. Wasn't even that bad. It's no goddamn Fire Temple. :|

For the record, that's my least-liked Dungeon in OOT. Followed by Jabu Jabu's Belly in the same game. I didn't have any issues with the rest.

Judging by the below quote at the end...

"We love working with Donkey Kong. It's a great character. It's a lot of fun. We love working with Metroid Prime, with Mario Kart; those are fun, fun games to work on. So, you know, you can't lose. Every one of those IPs have been a lot of fun to play with and work on and [we'd] love to come back to them sometime."
I doubt it's actually Metroid before anyone asks, because they act like this project is not this. I also doubt DK since they just did that. I don't really know what this could be, however... maybe a reboot of something? F-Zero?

I think it has something to do with the magnetic ball. But I never got around to it.
How I did it was using Pegasus Seeds and the Roc's cape.
I'd use the seeds, jump over the lava, jump again midway, and hope I land.

Pretty much this.
This article pretty much summarizes why Kojima wanted snake in, i don't know why his thoughts would change from brawl to now. Not to mention it's pretty much (free?) advertising for Snake, and possibly a belmont.
