I do find it odd that they released a Snake Eater remake for the 3DS. Were they like "Aw nawh...weee nead moar handuheldu gaimz fur da Iron Screw Rubber franchise. Wat abawt releazing a Iron Screw Rubber 3: Cloth consumer remaik!?"

Note: this is me trying to be funny by being random.

The thing is a lot of people put the priority third party, Kojima card for thinking Snake is returning, but if you look at Konami and Nintendo's history as of late, signs point to an unlikely return. Kojima is a big force, but Konami's heads are bigger. That's why I've cut him on my prediction rosters for now.
A real shame, if you ask me. I hate it that Snake may be reduced to a terrible fate.

See what I did there?

mgs3d is the definitive snake eater. Sakurai re made the game because he thought that Snake eater's foliage and forestry would translate best into 3d and he was right, MGS3D has the best 3d in any 3ds game i have yet played.

Concerning snake:Nintendo's history with Konami doesn't really matter that much considering by the time snake was in brawl, his latest game on nintendo was a remake on the previous gen console, at least this remake is on this gen :rotfl:

edit: sorry hoots, gonna quote you again.
I think the idea of Snake being cut is a complete myth perpetuated by Smash spectators only. That's how you can tell if a rumor is fake, especially if they say "he's on the chopping block due to rights issues."

In E3 Sakurai said there were no cuts at the time, meaning that Snake was still intended to be included at that time. If there was an issue with Konami, he would have been cut immediately. He's either in or out. There's no maybe.

His statement would imply that cuts would only be made for the sake of time or technical limitations. If they already jumped through the hoops to get and keep Snake, I doubt he'd be the first one to go. So honestly, I disregard any rumor that says Snake is cut (at this point, I'm starting to discredit rumors with any cuts).

Clamoring for cuts stems from Smash speculators' love of "muh patterns!" They are so obsessed with this idea that they forget that Brawl didn't have a single trash, throwaway character. Melee did, and in addition to Mewtwo, those were the ones that were cut. And we can see from the Brawl files that Mewtwo almost made it in.

If Sakurai really gets the enormous amount of development time that we think he'll get (and has already had, honestly) without wasting 60% of it on a single player mode, in addition to not having to build the engine and models from scratch, I'm having difficulty seeing why there needs to be any cuts.

Then again, you never know with Sakurai. Regardless, keep this in mind.

I wouldn't mind a rerelease of Twin Snakes on the 3DS.

I'd also like to see ground zeroes at least on the wii u. It's a capable console and the whole smartphone as a map thing would easily translate to the gamepad.
Of course, Kojima's just as crazy as Sakurai, so who knows.

edit: (also twin snakes was about 3 gigs, which would probably result in a 50$ 3ds game al a smtIV if compression is poor.)

edit edit: I want mah super sneakeh rubber screw wii u damnit >: (

The circumstances of Brawl are not completely similar to the circumstances of now, particularly when you get into Konami's relationship with Nintendo as a whole. It's entirely possible for Nintendo or Konami to say no if they think Snake isn't appropriate for appearing on their console if one or the others opinions have changed on that matter.

While I don't think Snake being cut is too likely, we can't ignore the possibility that he may as disregarding it is exactly the type of thinking that got us blindsided back in Brawl with Mewtwo.

I still think a Castlevania rep would have been much better then Snake for Brawl, but I think if we get anything will be Snake. Has Konami released ANYTHING for the Wii U? Can't think of a game off the top of my head. They at least released a Castlevania game on 3DS recently.

Even though North America has had it since November and Europe has had it since January, do you guys think we'll see anything for Japan's release of Mario Party: Island Tour on March 20th?

Konami has has two big titles for the 3DS- The MGS3 Remake and then The Lords of Shadow "Interquel" which was a prequel to a PS3/360 Game (Which is incredibly ironic given it's on a Nintendo system. Kind of what happened with Chain of Memories for Kingdom Hearts.
They also have no games on Wii U. They're going to hold up that "No Wii U Games because it's a joke of a system" policy for now.

Also, for now I'm not Naoto. I'm working on polishing up my next avatar because Smashboards didn't accept my upload of the original version, so I'm going to be that little girl from Deemo until then.

An excuse to reveal Yoshi or Wario, given they appear in that game. And then there's the fact that that game was a complete disaster critically.

Since were talking Konami stuff, I figured I'd mention something. Simon Belmont is usually pretty cool. I actually like his Mirror of Fate design. But I suppose pretty much anything would be better than the Castlevaina Judgement designs for the series. I guess if there's someone else from Konami I'd want for Smash Bros, it'd be Simon.

This to me is the greatest part about Lords Of Shadow. I literally do not dislike a single a design, they are all badass.
Also, my opinion exactly on Simon. If not Snake, then a Belmont seems fitting.

Please, no, let's silently ignore that game existed. Those designs made me think that the director had some hand in the atrocious Twilight film adaptions.

Simon Belmont is a way better character that represents Konami's history with Nintendo than Snake.

Honestly, to me it's like Megaman. They started on the NES, had a ton of games for Nintendo systems (Hell, ZX, and the entire Starforce and Battle Network series were all on Nintendo systems, ignoring an obscure BN arcade title) and they still have good history regarding them. The last "real" Megaman game (We're ignoring the fact that Star Force represents a non-canon timeline, and the 8-Bit overglorification) was on a Nintendo title in 2009. Barring Lords of Shadow and Symphony of the Night, a good chunk of Castlevania games are Nintendo games.

Metal Gear didn't start on the NES, had a dishoned NES port, had Snake's Revenge, and has not had a truely original exclusive MGS game, barring the excellent MGS Game Boy game. We've gotten:
-MG (NES)
-Snake's Revenge
-MGS Game Boy
-The Twin Snakes
-MGS3D
I likely missed one or two, so just quote me if I did.

It makes way more sense, all in all.

Simon's Mirror of fate design combined new Simon and barbarian Simon beautifully. Never liked pretty boy Belmonts, the look works for Alucard or Soma, but the Belmonts are supposed to be rugged vampire hunters.

Simon starred in 4 games for Nintendo consoles, and his last appearance was a year ago, on a Nintendo console, and his move set writes itself. Rictor's whip upper cut from SotN as an up special! Whip twirl (that deflects projectiles) as a neutral! Cycle through holy water, knife, and cross with down special, and use them with side special!

(Also I want the entire N team)

Assuming Snake doesn't return, one Konami character I'd like to see is Bomberman.
I know he's owned by Konami, but he's a Hudson character damn it! (I obviously want him in though.)

He is definitely the best Hudson rep, but I could also make a case Bonk and Master Higgins. As much as I love Bomberman, if we are talking about Konami as a whole, I still think Simon is the best rep.

Why not both?
I'd like both Snake and Simon, but if I had to pick only one, yeah, Belmont is much much more fitting.
Also that would mean a Castlevania stage.
And Castlevania music.
You can't go wrong with that ****.

IMO, Gabriel Belmont's a lot more badass than Simon (and a more interestingly tragic character to boot), but Simon's fine too. Him and/or having Snake back in Smash would be more than cool with me.

Gabriel doesn't have the history with Nintendo Simon does. Besides, Simon guarantees classic Castlevania music, which is a much better fit for Smash then the LoS soundtrack (which was good, but still.)

In a perfect world? Yeah, sure. Both characters would be nice.
But I highly doubt Konami, a company that is known to put their flagship titles on Nintendo platforms once a blue moon, will be selected to include two 3rd party newcomers to Smash 4.

I think we are more likely to see SEGA get that opportunity than Konami.

And yeah Castlevania music would be pretty dope to play with in Smash.

The wind here in Southern California is nasty. Strongest wind I have ever seen in my area.

On the topic of Simon Belmont, I don't really know much about him in particular, but Castlevania seems like a series that I would enjoy from what I know of it. I'd want Snake to return rather than have Belmont get in without him.

I know Gabriel's next to impossible for Smash compared to Simon. Was just talking in general and wanted to give some of my input while we were on the subject of Castlevania, after finally getting caught up on the first LoS and Mirror of Fate recently (will probably be quite awhile before I play LoS 2 though).

Not sure what I prefer between the classic and LoS soundtracks, but both are great.

We had some pretty wind/rain combo going on earlier, with a bit of thunder. While I hate thunderstorms, I'm satisfied that we had rain for a change.

Watch this video for Richter (and later on Julius) Belmont from Castlevania: Harmony of Despair. Remember, Simon, as a Belmont, has access to all of these abilities as well. SO MUCH MOVE SET POTENTIAL.

It's a shame DreamMix TV World Fighters didn't get localized, even if it's a lackluster game to some (the licensing issues would've been a nightmare). Would have also been cool if there was a sequel, oh well...

Snake vs. Simon vs. Bomberman always seemed like an awesome fight to me. Even if the game sucked, I would have loved to play as Tyson (Beyblade) lol.

Supply me with some good hot food I like to eat (like Chef Boyardee ravioli and Maruchan Ramen soup, chicken flavored), and I'll be satisfied with much more rain. Just not all the time though. >_<

Oh, and a hot spring!

I envy you.
We get snow, lots of it.

I remember an awful snowstorm we got a couple years ago. You'll be surprised what they can do (they've split otherwise healthy trees.)

I'm pretty sure Nintendo won't outright ask any third party for its characters other than Sonic and Mega Man. These were the only two big enough to have such a strong demand from the fanbase. We all know what happened with Snake.
I guess these tree are still the only ones which have a nice a chance to stay inside the series for the next installments (pretty sure Snake will come back for Sm4sh). Pac Man and Namco/Bandai characters are surely in a better position than the others but I still have some doubts.
But yeah, there are many Sega characters that would make sense.

I'm curious, if Ridley ends up getting in, if people will start proclaiming him to be "on the chopping block" next game because Sakurai might decide "he doesn't fit" anymore or whatever, like they're doing for Snake. That argument always came off as a poorly-concealed statement of "I don't like the character, therefore he should and will go."

I wouldn't even know where to go for a second Sega franchise. Do you go for a series that has had most of its successful on a Nintendo platform, or go to one of their 16-bit games to make it feel more classic, or do you just go for a Sega franchise that is popular now?

Trust me, I like Snake. Heck if I'm really hoping he's back (I did find him unique).
I'm just not sure he'll return with what's been happening.

I wouldn't really consider the circumstances between the two similar as one's Nintendo owned and the other's not. Then again, there will probably be some that try to put forth any crappy reason they can (like with any other character), but I'd imagine that they'd be a great minority.

Regardless, I agree that reasoning will never have any basis.

I second that Idea. Too bad Castlevania has lost it's roots.... But that design is BOSS!!!

On another note, I just finished LoZ: Wind Waker... that was a fantastic game. Even though it's a bit overdoing it, I can now see why people would want Toon Zelda.
