Interesting that Nintendo of Japan Twitter doesn't have a Nintendo Direct listed yet. I hope this doesn't mean this is a regional thing rather than global (a regional only might hurt the chances of Smash news).

You know what would give us super hype? Sakurai tweeting to tell us to watch the Nintendo Direct (he did this for the Nintendo Direct revealing Rosalina & Luma).

Which would be cool but I keep my expectations low unless there's strong evidence that something bigger is coming about. I'm personally expecting a DK stage reveal tonight followed by a DK character in the Direct. I'm already constructing a butthurt bunker to hide in if the reveal ends up being a Diddy and Dixie tag team.

Sakurai's entirely predictable.

The problem is that you have to derive complex polynomial equations to predict his next move, and no one can be arsed to do so. :p

I'm half-expecting the Direct to show us a character that has nothing to do with Donkey Kong Country at all.

Well hopefully we'll get that NoJ tweet later on in the day because it would be nice to know what the plans are for the company as a whole, especially with Smash on the table.

If it is international, then there is reason to believe that Diddy won't be revealed in the Pic of the Day, otherwise I'd expect him or another pic of WFT's glorious bottom.

Okay I realize this is a bit of a stretch, but what if Nintendo takes the opportunity of a Western direct to reveal a character specifically demanded by the Western audience?

But who? I'd probably assume Ridley or Little Mac (implying they're in).
