It doesn't suprise me Miyamoto asked for Pacman in Brawl, seeing Pac's his favourite character.

Wait, don't tell me he asked for Angry Birds in Smash 4 :troll:

LOL Krystal. So 2005.
But Shulk and Chrob are just generic sword users. Krystal has a staff. :troll:

Wouldn't mind Krystal, just as long as they make her (somewhat) unique.

And Krazoa Palace really needs to be a stage, regardless if Krystal is actually in or not. It looks cool, and Star Fox stages could use some variety, anyway.

I'm not particularly surprised, there are a lot of investors out there that are not really concerned on how the money is being made or if the company is doing their job well, rather they will be mostly focused on how they can make the maximium amount of captial and want the company how to increase that number, reasons be damned. It's how they make their money and it is understandable at many levels.

However, it is a bit short sighted in regards to that since the future of video games is going to be a factor in Nintendo's long term health and I think it would be a mistake to dismiss it off hand because it's not 'dividend talk'.

I guess he is not as bad as the guy who said Nintendo should go mobile and charge people $1 for Mario to jump.

I wonder if there will be actual Metal Gear in real life in the future. Hmmm... bipedal warmachines are cool...and deadly...but cool...

Investors can be a complicated group to deal with because you have someone who take interest in what the company is doing while many others want to simply suck as much money as they can. It also comes down to a difference in many NA investors who have gotten this down to a rather.... destructive science. Basically forcing a much short term profit as possible and getting out of there before the entire thing comes crashing down.

Very true which is a problem in my opinion you should not try and make a company take short term profit at the case of maybe losing reputation and a lot less gain in the future.

Would be interesting, but i'd kinda sorta prefer if it didn't. Believe it or not, I would actually hate if the transformers were real, because all the destruction both Autobots and Decepticons alike would cause, and I'm actually concerned about the environment either way.

I don't think u have much to worry about Nintendo does listen to shareholders very often lol.
It's how I plan my future shareholder relationships. I would have stopped taking money from the guy who suggested $1 to let Mario jump higher.

Pac-Man is a good choice for a third party character, especially alongside Mega Man and Sonic. Still, it's interesting to see that Shigeru Miyamoto suggested him during Brawl's development. Same when Sakurai stated Miis were considered as well. Makes me wonder what other ideas were considered and could be turning into reality this time around.

Also. seeing Sonic, Mega Man and Pac-Man on the same game always reminds me of Project X Zone. lol

Seriously, what are the chances of, after a Bandai Namco x Capcom x Sega crossover exclusively on a Nintendo console and partially developed by a Nintendo-owned studio (Monolith Soft), the companies' mascots crossing over in Smash Bros.?

@ Jason the Yoshi Jason the Yoshi : I suggest toning down with the image and video only posts/replies...

I heard Sakurai also considered adding Greninja in Brawl, but chose to put it off.

Because, y'know, Greninja didn't exist.
Maybe he did, but he was scrapped from the roster because they decided not to include Greninja in Diamond and Pearl and decided to save him for Black and White, but then scrapped him entirely, but then decided to use the design for Pokemon X and Y.

Who knows?

I also hear that Sonic was planned to be added in Melee. Yeah, I'm totally not referencing that joke.

So for those that didn't see it...

Miyamoto support is real.
YO!! I wish everyone in the character sub-forum would read this before blindly saying character X should be in Smash.
As Sakurai explains, coming up with an idea and actually making it a reality are very different beasts. While it's easy to imagine a character in a Smash Bros. game, on the dev side, there's a lot more to consider. "How to give the character their own individuality as a fighter and how they'll move. Should the game system maintain a consistent form or not. What other fighters are there and how will the new character differ in strategy? Does the new idea fit with the original game? Most importantly, is it entertaining?"
Factors:
  1. Character individuality.
    1. What strategic options can they have to set them apart from the cast.
  2. Does their playstyle reference and/or call back to their respective games.
  3. Are they fun to play.
I love how sales and relevancy aren't even listed. It's moveset potential, individuality of the fighter and more importantly the entertainment value.
