Not going to lie what you're saying about TTYD for me is true. My concern on spm is the mechanics and the design (one major thing I liked about the first 2 games is 2d in 3d but spm half removes it which kind of irritates me).

I'd love this alt:If Mega Man.EXE is a costume... Sakurai just took away everything I had against him going with classic look. I really wanted them to use the exe look when they added Mega Man because it looks cool and the classic look is rather boring. Don't get me wrong I know why he went with the classic look, but that doesn't mean I had to like it.
