I love the Paper Mario series myself... besides Sticker Star. Considering how unconditionally I loved the others in the series, I was really sad when I played SS and was disappointed.

I didn't like it.
I don't know how most people feel about it cause I didn't even bother to check.
Last time I checked on miiverse, they seemed to enjoy it (but I kinda agree with you as someone who got addicted and still am to TTYD can't get over why no music got in ssb as minimum rep).

From what I can gather it is the black sheep of the series.
From what I've read from people who like it, they say it is an alright game, just not a good Paper Mario game.

I'll be honest and say I like the Paper Mario series (sans Sticker Star) a hell of a lot more than any main Mario series game, so if Sm4sh gets any Paper Mario representation (besides a trophy) I'll be ecstatic.

If Sakurai pulls another cool thing out of his ass (Like Paper Mario as a playable character / A Paper Mario character as an AT) I will probably cry tears of joy (like I tend to do with reveals anyway... don't judge me)

Yeah, I can agree with that.
If I set my Paper Mario biases aside, the game as a whole is fun. It's an interesting concept (executed a bit wonky but interesting nonetheless).

But it's not a good Paper Mario game by any means. Usually Bowser is funny... I don't recall him ever talking in Sticker Star. Not to mention the lack of partners...

If we are still talking about the weather, then the only thing I have to add is that I'm too lazy to check. xD

Though, since it's Texas, it's probably very hot. :p
Where do you live in Texas? Out of curiosity.

.....

The only Paper Mario game I really liked was TTYD. Super Paper Mario was meh. Sticker Star gives me 0 interest and looks boring as all hell. I haven't really played the first Paper Mario yet, I actually have it downloaded on my Wii but for some reason I can't seem to bring myself to get far into it.

Still. The best Mario game, best game of all time as well, will forever be Legend of the Seven Stars. Paper Mario wouldn't even exist if it weren't for that game, the original Paper Mario was going to originally be a SMRPG2 but then they had that falling out with Square and created Paper Mario instead.

Super Paper Mario is my favorite in the series actually. It might just be because it's the first one I played, so I didn't really grow up with the RPG style of the first two, but then again I didn't like the RPG-style of the first two THAT much when I did play them. They're both fun, but I still like SPM's gameplay better overall.

The story is actually kind of deep, it takes you by surprise at a few points, and contains a lot of dark elements compared to the first two Paper Mario games, and the Mario series in general. A lot of people refer to it as the Mario equivalent of Majora's Mask, including myself.

Euh... why exactly would I judge this is EXACTLY me now. Yes even AT I'm open to that. To tell the truth (and this sounds weird), I want proper rep more than the playable character because of how undereped it is now (my op explains it enough but for instance, who would want a TTYD theater as a stage? or we believe in you mario as music? it can got a lot further). But since the character is awesome and that it would be the best case of rep, It's still my most wanted.

But yeah, I would be VERY joyful for something as small as a music I want rep SO BADLY especially with how rep seems to go better (have a personal theory blaming SSE but that's another story...).

The main thing people complain about is the implementation of stickers.
There's no strategy or skill requuired other than picking the best sticker to use.
Stickers made boss battles a matter of just 'solving a puzzle'.

That depends, are asking like which area do I live in or like my actual city? If it's the former then I live in the coastal region in the Galveston area.
Yeah, just the region. Was just wondering if you might have been in my area, San Anotnio, and if you were I would have tried to have gotten you into the Smash scene here. xD

I've played through Paper Mario 64 and Super Paper Mario numerous times, but I'm still yet to play SS or TTYD.
Of the two I have I can't really say which one I prefer, they're both just amazing.

I was on the final boss, ran out of stickers, and hated my life for the next week.

Oh, and I still haven't played (or even bought) Sticker Star myself. Judging by from what I've heard of it....I'm not sure if I should. Is it really that bad of a game?

Then again, I didn't like the turn-battle system of the first two games THAT much, as I said before, so I'm not sure if I would really be fazed by how Sticker Star changed things up.

Don't buy it if you want a Paper Mario game, but do if you want to play something different, if that makes sense.

I don't like it purely because it's not the Paper Mario I know and love (Even Super Paper Mario has earned my unconditional love and it's not the same as the first two, SS is just... too different)

Eh, I wasn't really shocked by any of the "surprises". And I actually find Partners in Time to be darker.

PiT lost its dark tone after Toadwood Forest. Those creepy Toads having the life sucked out of them was about as dark as it got. After that it was just goofy alien invasion stuff.

Majora's Mask is my favorite Zelda game... I think either TTYD or SPM is my favorite Paper Mario game...
Mario and Luigi RPGs go to Bowser's Inside Story (mostly because I don't remember Partners in Time all that much and I really like the final boss music in BIS. I'll have to play PiT again.). My favorite non-PaperMario Mario RPG is Super Mario RPG, though.

Quoting this because that's why I respect so much smrpg despite not being that amazing to me as TTYD (however, it;s still a good game I enjoyed some boss were VERY long and challenging). On that note, I still remember the feel you get after this message on boss battles: "Monster's FP is gone!" Like seriously THAT FEEL.

never played spm (probably won't though) but I need to tell that it's certainly doesn't seem a bad game. I actually listened the whole ost and it follows the TTYD style (though, the text are mostly the same assets who enjoyed shaking and dynamic texts? I liked it). The ost is mostly good (but then again, I have the feel that they should be way better with the game). But who don't know this?

No seriously this is ssb material I would love to see and that's even if I liked more TTYD ost (not going to talk more I would have to write a 5 pages essay lol). It's not bad really. It just won't be as amazing as TTYD (I don't know what game will but the only experience that was more enjoyable is when I played ssbm where I loved video game since then).

Lol it's funny cause they're all missing 1 letter only. You'd think they'd make those borders thinner in order to make the game not look like a Chinese knockoff. Pech.

I would totally play Majora's Mask more often if I didn't have the emulated version on the Collector's Edition, which is prone to random freezing. Does anyone here happen to have the Virtual Console version of MM? Has it ever randomly frozen on you?

As far as other Mario RPGS go...I have Paper Mario on the Virtual Console, but I haven't played it in a few years (played TTYD before the first, spent days of trial and error on stopping the time at 1:00 at the potion brewing part, and then once I found out the same mandatory challenge was in PM, I flipped out, tried it once, failed, rage quit and I haven't played it since.) I also have Bowser's Inside Story, which is probably my favorite turn-based battle Mario game. It makes me rage at a few times, but other than that, I love every single thing about it.

I tried to do a minimum point run of Super Paper Mario once. It turns out that at a minimum level Francis is really, really hard even with the power of Bowser + Carrie, but maybe I should try again and suck less sometime. It was a shame though since that kind of challenge made the game impossibly hard but playing normally the game was kinda dull because winning was so simple as to be nearly automatic; I feel like that basic gameplay design was actually pretty good but it needed to be pushed more than it was.

It's due to technical limitations. There's only enough memory for 4 characters.

Haha... Speaking of Francis... I used to be a part of a community called "Digibutter.nerr.biz" which was obviously a play on Francis' forum of choice in the game. Was quite the unique forum experience.

The final boss fight was one of the most satisfying experiences I have ever been through.
Something to do with the neat game mechanics, coupled with the music and that awesome finale.

Thanks for the offer but I don't think it will happen. Remember that I was interested in TTYD before playing it mostly because I love rpg. spm gameplay just doesn't appeal to me which doesn't mean that it's bad (say it again but I think it may be a little underrated because of people thinking so). Though, I'll give you this: Imo, it would be practically impossible for IS to do better than TTYD if I'm talking about thoughts put into this game (again, don't want to write 20 pages I pay a lot attention to details).

Though, (talking to everyone), if you ever liked the first, you will generally like the second because it pushes the first to its limit. I actually wouldn't even hesitate to go on ebay if you even consider buying it (glad I did). You'll thank me later.

sticker star is another story though...

Your loss I guess. It does a pretty good job of mixing RPG and platformer mechanics and has a lot of post game content.
You obviously won't enjoy it more than TTYD, because from how you act that is your holy grail of gaming, but I definately think it is a gaming gem that any Paper Mario fan needs to at least try.

I kind of wish there was a SPM2. I really liked the RPG/Platformer mechanics of the game.

SPM's gameplay definitely could've been handled better, but I like it for what it is. It can be difficult on your first playthrough, but after that it's not to hard to master things and make future playthroughs a cakewalk overall. The last level is always a challenge, at least for me though, it's less about dealing with one or two big tough enemies/hazards, and more about wearing your health down overtime with a plethora of enemies all throughout the place, and navigating through some of the later puzzles can be a pain as well.

The only aspect of the game that I was really disappointed with was the bosses, particularly the last few major bosses. (the penultimate boss in particular is a pushover with Luigi, without him you have to grab his own projectiles and throw them back at him, and given your throwing range and that the boss is constantly attacking he's at least somewhat challenging that way)

The final boss fight was one of the most satisfying experiences I have ever been through.
Something to do with the neat game mechanics, coupled with the music and that awesome finale.
It takes a lot of effort to bring the final boss down, but it's truly worth it, and the music plus how you're fighting as Bowser in one half of the fight and Mario and Luigi in the other half really helps make it an awesome and satisfying experience.
