If this tournament went well, I was planning on talking to the CS officers about maybe doing it again sometime.
If you notice, I asked you a bunch of times in this thread about why you kept saying it was probably the last tournament here.

Also, I don't mind that I haven't really contributed anything to the community in your eyes. At the end of the day I love this community and I consider many of its members my friends. To me, being there and being amiable and friendly and having fun is a form of contributing to this community, even if it's not as important as hosting a tournament.

lol attack me all you want, guys. ive hosted 7 tourneys now and this was the first one i've had this happen at.

i provided food at all the SUNH tourneys run out of my house, and everyone was extremely good about not leaving dirty plates around, and im willing to pick up the empty soda cans left around as a result. a majority of the smash community in norcal is generally quite respectful of the venue. as people have said, this really wasnt a problem at any of the NCBs.

the people that have been to any of the SUNH events know that i really am willing to put forth a lot of effort to make these happen. im confident of a majority of the core norcal smash community has faith in my tourney hosting, and thats all that matters to me.

i asked this about 20 pages ago, but why are you posting here neighborhoodP? im pretty sure theres a stick at the top of this forum saying to please not post in other region's forums to instigate these kinds of issues.

ok well w/e. i've hosted a series of tourneys out of my house that were quite enjoyed by all those who attended, getting numerous remarks that they were more fun than the standard NCB. so please dont come in to a thread and tell someone you dont know that they arnt good enough to host a tourney because he got upset over people not picking up trashed when asked.

I'd like to say that from now on, I will not be splitting anymore. If you say I'm selfish, it's probably because you placed lower than me. There's good thought in why I'm not splitting anymore, though.

In the past, when NorCal tournies were unpredictable and there was no clear-cut winner besides Isai, splitting was uncommon. After some time, the top placers were common top placers and splitting the earnings among eachother was done as being good buddies.

When you win among your buddies, you share the earnings. This prevents friendships from converting into rivalries. This, however, turned into what I call a "biweekly payment". I actually felt bad for my friends that weren't in the common top 3. Not only that, but sometimes when we split, we didn't split equally over the places. Sometimes it'd be a split from 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and ONE 5th placer. The other 5th placer usually wasn't a "Baysian" or Good Friend.

I realized this when I talked to Lucky about splitting. He related to economics and told me that, when you split between the top 3 and among friends only, you're monopolizing.

Not only that, but what value does 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place have? If, for example, I trained for a week to raise money for my cat's neutering, shouldn't I try my best to get to the top? When you split and you know that you and your buddies will get the top placings, all you really need is to be in the group at the top. This Kills Competition. When 1st place earns the same as 5th, something is wrong.

I want to bring back the Real competitive spirit. If you get 1st, you win 1st and you're rewarded with 1st. If you get 7th, you're rewarded with 7th.

If the next time I go to a tourny Falcomist, Jeff, & TANG place -- I won't split. I won't split even if I'm 4th place, right below them.

EDIT:

I'm not doing this just because I'm "starting to win". There were times where I'd take 1st consecutively, and still split with Jeff & co.

I decided to stop splitting at the UC Davis tournament 2 weeks ago. I got 2nd place there.

ANOTHER EDIT:

I placed first ONCE since I decided to stop splitting.

To Nick/iceninja/lalala other aliases [i haven't been around forever],

I know you did a Brave Attempt on opening the room for the tourney, but it takes a lot more than just that. Accepting faults from others, problems, and giving support is a requirement no matter how bad things can be. Just because this tourney was considered bad to you doesn't mean to discontinue and ruin it for the entire NorCal community.

Kizzo had problems before, but he continued to still supply the tourneys to people because of his personal choice of having the community getting together, testing his skills, and whatever other reasons he may have.

Not to be offensive, even though you probably will see me being it, you can't just be direct and tell people such as Germ for example, that he was giving you attitude or whoever basically is giving you a problem. You just gota deal with it with a smile. 2 Negatives don't create a positive in this matter. Someone has to even out or confliction may occur.

*******

If you were to create another tournament, try going by the Customer Support style:

Customers are #1

Smile 24/7

Support the customers no matter what

The worst problems are yet to come and never express anger/frustration/negativity/stress, people might take advantage of it or feel you dislike them or are unwanted and probably won't come back again. [this may favor you but once the word gets out that there's something wrong that they don't like, the entire community would feel no desire to enter the NCB's anymore].

*******

Honestly, if it was a hassle to host the tournament, that just means you aren't fit for hosting it unless you decide to suddenly change your view on others and just open the doors for people to come in and chill out while watching people have fun.

Anyway, i might not even know what i'm saying and getting myself into a deep hole or w/e but if you get what i'm saying, great. Perfecto.

Aside from the 'w/e', i hope to see the vids from the tourney coming out soon~

so yeah, where's those results at

Btw, I'll help clean up after the tourney if that's your only problem.
I mean come on, w/ about 50 ppl in a room with food drinks and candy, you should expect a big mess.

Anyway, RESULTS?!?!?!? Lol

All you have to do is let us know next time instead of trying to make it such a big issue in front of the norcal community. We dont ask each other lets split, its more of just the common thing we do cause were friends. Sure we may rank up as top 3 most of the time, however we still try our hardest against each other cause we want to beat the better person. I try against you (Lunin), Tang, SS, everyone I play because of the competition and the enjoyment of playing my best always attracts me to keep improving.

I asked u if u wanted to split at the Davis tourney and the first reaction I get from u is I dont know? Then u walked away from the issue so I was confused what u wanted to do. Now since u ranked higher then me at that tournament I asked if u still wanted to split. You told me no and I respect that cause its ur money and u earned it cause of ur placing.

With that said just let us know. Money doesnt affect friendship (It shouldn't) or the fact we dont try against each other cause we know we will get money. Heck even Tang got 13th at one tourney and Phil didnt rank top 3 but we split the money at the end cause were not thinking about our greedness of money but how we respect each other and we consider each other good friends within the smash community ( maybe the best friends in the smash community)

This is even the first tourney we split in teams, however me and Phil tried our HARDEST and BEST to beat SS and Tang and we ACTUALLY suceeded in winner finals.

Another issue about splitting with outside Baysians. Zhu asked us if we should split money with Nemsis at the NUB biweekly, and we discussed about and came to the conclusion on splitting and none of us disagreed. If one of us did then yea we wouldn't of split cause we want to make sure everyone is cool.

Placing = Reputation and thats what it always will be. There is always the competitive spirit no matter what regardless of money. If u rank top 3 u just get the added bonus but really its the reputation of saying UR GOOD is what matters by ur placing. M2k aims to get first at every tourney and doesn't even care about the money either. He wants to prove he is the best and thats it.

Anyways If you dont want to split then you dont have to split. If u ranked 4th in singles and I got 1st I would still offer u th split cause ur still a friend to me regardless of our placing. But I will always and same with all the other baysians will try hard against each other to beat each other no matter what the circumstances are.

Edit:
If you want to talk about it some more or w/e then u can IM me.

Well one of your main points that struck me is how you split with TANG & Phil when they weren't top 3. I know you're my friends and all, probably much more than other friends I have in the smash community, but I think a fundamental trait of regular tournaments has been lost with splitting.

One time you guys split with me when I got 7th place or something, where everybody else got top 3.

I was really grateful that you guys split with me but...at that time I felt like something was wrong.

I'm friends with a lot of people in the smash community -- and when I split...I wanna split with everybody. Like what Brandon & Phil says, "I want Everyone to get 1st place". I adopt that unrealistic hope as well.

I don't think its a big deal though -- I'm not trying to cause any drama, I just want the community to grow to it's prime. I hope this doesn't ruin any friendships, I know some people are already a little mad at me for not splitting.

EDIT:

I feel that splitting should be done between competitors of roughly equivalent skill. Where determining who will win is as determinable as guessing heads or tails on a coin.

If we don't split, in the long run, the amount of reward money we all made should be the same amount. Splitting is fundamentally about the money. Not splitting...in my interpretation, is about avoiding it.

Then only u view it as something wrong, cause to me whether we split or no split the competition will always be the same for me. Try my hardest and prove Im better then the other. Also u say it isnt a big deal, however u post it infront of everyone in the norcal community? That alrdy shows its a big deal or u feel its like a big deal when u obviously could of just talked to me privately or any one of us. Only your view is different from us. Also Tang was part of top3 and so was SS and they decided to split cause it was THEIR money. We just agreed with giving money to Phil cause we think he deserved it especially how he did in his performance in teams.

To let everyone else know I won some money and ppl split money with me but what did I do with it? Let see... I paid for Dyrl, Replicates, and Hella dinner because Hella drove some ppl to my house and Dyrl was a bit short on money and Replicate couldn't find a ATM. So really I did spend all my winnings for my friends anyways.

Only people make the choice if they want to give money or keep it. I dont care about the money I win. I care about competition and the community and thats it. Money will never effect on how I feel with the smash community

whitewashedninja: well you READ my posts, but you obviously didnt understand

whitewashedninja: so im gonna pretty much go ahead and ignore everything you said

Well since I Obviously know that you didn't comprehend anything I posted, that just means you shouldn't "host" another tourney since your lack of care, ignorance, and unalterable Obvious rude behavior is disliked by many.

Don't "host" another tourney for the sake of others. Save Their time and Your time from a mess you might create.

Like Pr0digyKid said before, it's just the stuff you gota deal with. Nothing to Whine about.

Hey I edited my post.

EDIT:

Also, I'm posting my thoughts because I think the community can learn from it.
