I've had this happen to me while playing as Ness.... I think this might have actually happened while I was playing @While on the subject of Ness, I only have one thing to say. I'm not sure if anyone's brought this up yet, but if he uses PK Flash, counter that thing!
Wouldn't be surprising - I've been doing that to Ness players for a while now =P. I first discovered it in a for glory team battle on Smash 3ds. At the way start of the match the Ness player did his Neutral B and I thought I would see how much damage a counter of that would do. I went up and countered it, and to my surprise I Ohko'd both him and his Greninja partner. It was pretty terrific, and I'm pretty sure my teammate wasn't complaining.I've had this happen to me while playing as Ness.... I think this might have actually happened while I was playing @erico9001 , in fact!
I remember your post from like 2 months ago about people thinking Shulk's cheap. They are still going on about that??I seem to have an ongoing heatedargumentdebate with a friend over whether Shulk is a super-cheap character or not. He's really good at Smash but I can beat him as Shulk, so from that he instantly makes the conclusion that Shulk is the cheapest character in the game. I'm not whining; it's pretty interesting to discuss the mechanics of a character I'm passionate about.
Your thoughts? (Though I suppose this is like asking on the Project M forums if people like Project M....)
Thanks for that, I will certainly be using those resources. I'm pretty good with Lucina and Sheik too, though they seem to be able to take losing when I play those characters.I remember your post from like 2 months ago about people thinking Shulk's cheap. They are still going on about that??Idk, I think these people could use a little more humility.
Maybe bring them to this thread where it is agreed on that Shulk either has one of the highest, or the highest learning curve.

You could direct them to the character competitive impressions thread where tiers are often posted. Find a few - they will be there (people are always posting them when it's not really helping the discussion much). Note how Shulk's usually mid or low tier. Then show them who's always at the top: Diddy Kong.

To finish this recipe, you could show them Trela, considered one of the best Shulks (often the best), losing to Zinoto's Diddy Kong.

Are you confident in beating them with any other Smash 4 character? If you could, that would probably show them. Maybe you could have them try Shulk themselves and try to beat like, your worst character or something. Perhaps you could show them a replay of you losing while playing as Shulk?
I really want this to get worked out, because honestly it's just not right. People are usually impressed by good Shulk players.
Mature themes and Riki? Now I'm interested. Never thought those two things could go together, aside from him being in crazy debt. Thanks for that, I will certainly be using those resources. I think a lot of the hate comes from them trying obvious slow and powerful attacks (like warlock punch) so naturally I counter. They seem to hate his aerials too.
I cut my friend down with the sword of logic and he sort of descended into mad rant that didn't make sense. It was quite vulgar and involved quite... Mature themes that involved Riki for some reason. I'll post what he said on an external link if anyone really wants to see, but...
Anyways, thanks a lot for those links, and I also appreciate your memory of me having the same dilemna a while back.![]()

That's actually a pretty impressive business strategy. It worked with Xenoblade, it'll more than likely work for the Shulk Amiibo as well. I see what they're trying to do, they're trying to make Xenoblade memorabilia and games a rare commodity so it'll seem like a cult classic.http://mynintendonews.com/2014/12/0...ng-something-with-the-exclusive-shulk-amiibo/
I hate gamestop so much.
I have a couple relatives in Japan so I'll probably be able to get one from them (Thank god they're not region locked).http://mynintendonews.com/2014/12/0...ng-something-with-the-exclusive-shulk-amiibo/

I seriously doubt that. It sounds to me like that Gamestop manager is just trying to brew trouble.http://mynintendonews.com/2014/12/0...ng-something-with-the-exclusive-shulk-amiibo/

Well then...http://mynintendonews.com/2014/12/0...ng-something-with-the-exclusive-shulk-amiibo/

Yes, actually, apparently the Shulk Amiibo will only be distributed to those who preorder, no more, no less, probably to refrain from over saturation since Xenoblade is so new..Well then...
Is it possible to pre-order amiibos? I want to get the Shulk one so badly.

I bet that defects are inevitable...Imagine the Shulk amiibo with some sort of defect to it. Lots of bucks for something like that. A rare occurrence with a rare amiibo.
Just got an idea from that.I bet that defects are inevitable...
I hope that I have a Shulk wielding two Monados.
I second this. I'm 50/50 with Sonics, though it's a curbstomp battle with me on the receiving end when up against good Sonics. So I went into For Glory and I got owned by a pretty good Sonic... I didn't know how to really handle him at all.
Any tips against Sonic?
Sonic is probably my hardest matchup, no matter what character I use (although Rosalina using Luma to stop spin dash is pretty effective lol)So I went into For Glory and I got owned by a pretty good Sonic... I didn't know how to really handle him at all.

His immediate counter (Sonic is probably my hardest matchup, no matter what character I use (although Rosalina using Luma to stop spin dash is pretty effective lol)
What I can tell you however is that if they use the side b spin dash thingy, they'll try to hit you with that and jump to up air. So, shield the spin dash, and they'll jump trying to get the up air, so punish with nair/utilt. However, be careful as this obviously isn't foolproof, and they will eventually adjust by not jumping during spin dash and going past you.
Any AI with a counter is brokenShulk's CPU AI can go die.
mfw he counters a homerun bat smash attack

Agreed on this. Best thing to do with Sonic is try not to let them overwhelm you with their speed/mobility, this is one of the few times i'd use Jump/Speed entirely over Buster if only to keep up with him and actually damage him, but it's all up to how you want to deal with him in the end.Sonic is probably my hardest matchup, no matter what character I use (although Rosalina using Luma to stop spin dash is pretty effective lol)

Falcon's damage can be really overwhelming but spacing him out is effective enough. Some Falcons waaay too greedy for a knee gimp which smells like a counter opportunity but don't expect this from an actual GOOD Falcon player. Space and whack 'em with your sword, and remember that Falcon's u-tilt meteor smashes.I brutally hate Sheik and Falcon. So fast, so furious.
I can counter both of them with good ol weegee a little, but still... I just hate them.
Don't lead him there. Everyone or most users there are already putting Shulk on high tier. Lol. Just show the Japanese tier listYou could direct them to the character competitive impressions thread where tiers are often posted. Ironically I like how the AI can anticipate attacks since it helps remind me that going flat out aggro is not always the best solution.Any AI with a counter is broken
Countering 99% of my attacks. fml when they counter buster f-smash
The AI will spam any item that is has from what I've noticed, but it's the most annoying with projectiles. I hate it when they grab a Fire Flower...Ironically I like how the AI can anticipate attacks since it helps remind me that going flat out aggro is not always the best solution.
Also since the AI is programmed to spam projectiles (if any) from far away, I can take advantage of that by practicing details like reflecting and perfect shields.
I know about how to deal with Falcon's, and i've fought alot of good ones, although i found out the hard way about meteor U tilt in the 3DS version. Surprisingly i havent fought Sheik yet in the Wii U version, most of my knowledge come froms 3DS. And thanks for the tips.Falcon's damage can be really overwhelming but spacing him out is effective enough. Sheik's annoying but not unwinnable by all means. The needles are the main core of my frustration but really, just don't be too aggressive (Especially with buster and jump). Try not to miss with any aerials because Shulk's attacks have commitment which is basically the opposite of Sheik's whole moveset (absolutely near-zero commitment)
Too lazy to go in-depth with the rest but:
Spamus is fine
Yoshi's pretty annoying (damn those eggs)
Falcon's fine
Sheik's... eh. Okay.
Diddy's obvious but just get used to the match up (Raging about it won't help)
ROB.... I honestly don't know that much about it
Duck Hunt. Actually fine now unlike before
imo, Shulk's harder match ups (Like ranging from slight to solid) are Sheik, Diddy, Rosalina, Fox (Might be even but I don't think so), Ness, and Yoshi. They're not horrible though. At least. For now.
I freaking guarantee he'll have some sort of ability in Xenoblade X no reason he shouldn't.I pre-ordered the Shulk amiibo! I even pre-ordered it at full price!
I doubt that the amiibo will do things in games outside of Smash, but it's freaking Shulk.

I rarely fight level 9 CPUs since they are more frustrating to fight against...
A little off-topic, have two level 9 Marths fight against each other. It's hilarious.
I thought that too...I freaking guarantee he'll have some sort of ability in Xenoblade X no reason he shouldn't.
