About Roundtable trials.

I'm kind of undecided...kinda.
I mean, I really respect Buzz. He's intelligent, he has reasoning behind what he says, and he's a really intelligent poster. On top of that, he has a reputation. He's been here a while, and he has "Revenge Of A Buzz Saw" =P.

Now Bli33ard. He's also very smart, and he brings a MAJOR casual side to the discussion.

Contrary to Buzz, Bli33ard isn't really as popular which is why I'd have to pick him vote the roundtable. He adds a major casual flavour to the cast which ALOT of listeners are going to like, and he may even draw in first-timers. Also, Buzz's name is also pretty known here on SWF, and I always like to get the Newcomer feel. Sorry Buzz, you're a great candidate, but maybe just too great =P .

Vote: Bli33ard

I'm going to assume that vote was a typo given what you said above.

I did. I editted it and whatnot.

Anyways, I'd like to see what you guys think about DeDeDe's final smash. To me, it seems clonish...but I'll bump my thread when I find the time.

I like to think it's more of a ground-based Pit FS. But much funnier. Though probably pretty easy to avoid with characters that can stay up in the air for a while like Metaknight.

Hmm, I just listened to the trials and they were both good, but I'm gonna have to go with Bli33ard because I like the contrast between the casual and competitive player, and you all seemed to have a nice chemistry.

side note: I don't know if this was mentioned earlier but Eliwood is Roy's father. Roy's game is Japan only and is the sixth FE. Eliwood's FE is the seventh.

You can cast one vote for the stage you want to play. A stage is chosen by lottery from among those voted on by the players.

Also, the items that are turned off in the item switch are also determined by lottery.
It is decided by a vote.

A voting system makes sense when playing with random strangers. Items won't be so bad. Just playing people who are NOT computers is a big enough improvement over Melee.

Meh, this is good enough for "Play w/Anyone". I'm sure options will be more complete when you're plaing with friends.

It's good enough for me - though this mode will be played when I'm bored. I'm more excited about playing with Friends, as you know who you're fighting against. I'll add plenty of Americans when I get the game so that when I'm playing at 15pm in the next dimension, I'll be able to face a few.

I'm sure today's bumper update will feature in the next podcast.

And oh snap! I've just had an idea for a Viewpoint! *s******s*.

Gimpyfish pointed out that the character select screen is identical to the E4All demo, so it is most likely not the starting roster.

This sucks. Snake isn't going to be playable at first? He'll need to be unlocked? Hopefully this isn't the case....i was looking forward to jumping right into the action with him.

There's not a doubt in my mind that that is not the starting roster. Snake will most likely be unlockable anyway, since it was stated that the third party characters would be hidden characters.

While it makes sense, they could have you vote before they pair you up with others, and then get together groups who voted similarly. They might not be exactly identical, so a lottery works there.

My system isn't perfect, because there should really be three states for each item: "on," "off," and "I'm OK with either." Stages could be handled similarly: "I want this stage," "I don't want this stage," and "I'm OK with it."

This is a bit complicated for many people, but I'd like to see it available as an advanced option.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that we will be able to tell, on the account of the CPU's in melee being absolute, complete morons. Unless...

OMG! Decent CPU's confirmed! (hint: this is sarcasm)

I'm going to be a little optimistic and guess that the computers in Brawl will be a lot smarter. hen again, who needs comps when you have online?

I really hope so. I don't think, though, that online play will replace computers. I mean, my experience with other online games is that the caliber of your opponents leaves quite a bit to be desired. The whole rules issue won't help, either. Don't get me wrong, I really appreciate the online modes and will use them a lot, but a good, solid AI would be wonderful also.

Because of the voting for items and stages, we'll probably only go to 'With Anyone' for laid back matches, while if we want to play a certain way, Smashboards can have an irc setup for exchanging FCs, like serebii.net, or just a board for battle requests.

They should just have rooms for each match. And a custom search, like most games. You should be able to select Items, on/ off, stock or time, search matches between X amount of stock and X amount of stock, etc.

My vote goes to Bli33ard - I can base it purely on him quoting "The P is for Pie" from that amazing Brawl youtube vid, but he's English too - and I think he'll have a lot to say regarding Brawl's European Release Date.

I would make title suggestions for this week, but I'm fairly sure most of us know what this week's title will be...

I think seeing Sakurai use "That's epic!" was pretty win but..

"Real Men Use Items"? That's just.. perfect.

Perhaps, "So much for Dec. 3rd being epic"?

I think the icing on the cake of despair was the lack of a win update on Dec. 3rd.

December 3rd was not a triumph. I'm making a note here: HUGE FAILURE. It's hard to overstate my dissatisfaction.
are people still complaining about this? did you guys really think there would be a big update to make up for the fact the game wouldn't come out on Dec. 3rd?

Oh wait, we did! Remember the Sonic update? yeah, that was it.

Seriously, even though it was the North American release date, it was still JUST the NA release date. it wasn't the japanese, it wasn't the europeans, it was JUST North America, and so far we should know that a Japanese company would not update on a day important to the Americans.

the only reason i actually thought there would be a good update is because it was the beginning update for the month, which has been known to be good (Delfino Plaza, first new stage- June 1st, Ike-August 1st, Lucas-October 1st). but then i realized it's always the 1st, never the first update of the month (Pit's Descent-Sept. 3rd, first update of the month, but not on the first day)

so just...shut up about this. i'm sick of everyone nitpicking at everything because you think these guys hate us. and i'm even more sick when people try to pick a pattern or anything like that. there is no pattern, deal with it!

sorry to do this in your thread Youko, but i had to get it out. lookin forward to your episode this week

the severe failure is the fact that so many people actually thought December 3 would be a good update.

Back to podcast discussion?

So, will they use "Real men use items" as a title? The thing is Sakurai didn't create that, Nate did...
