For the record, I think the best post is in my signature.

Additionally, this was a very good tournament. Thanks to everyone for coming, especially to the people who drove like 9,001 hours.

ZigZag - great job running this tourney. That place is a great place for a tournament! The owners/staff were great as well. Also, congrats on your win - you sure earned that one!

I'm glad I went, because I had a lot of fun hanging out with everyone again. Congrats to Darkrain, Jiano, and Viperboy for their excellent placings. You're all way out of my league now, I guess I should retire from playing. But you know I won't

Mathos and Big R are way too much fun. Big R is getting good, too. Congrats on destroying my Fox - I never stood a chance at beating you. :ohwell:

Until next time, everyone!

Even more amazing considering that Zig has NO CAR and NO CELL PHONE.

I hate your alarm clock too, Deku =| Teaming again with Lixi was fun though... we blew a couple matches we should have won unfortunately >_<

I did learn that sleep is better than all night practices though. My performances round to round were so stupidly sporadic...

Had fun though, hope to see everyone again soon

The tourney was fun, but the fact that there was basically no one there was kind of a let down. It was fun seeing everyone again, don't get me wrong, and the low number of people made for great friendlies (3 people per TV at most) even with the big names, but....

I wish they had seeded by location. :\

2nd round losers bracket I play Kel (note: his Marth > my Marth except against low tiers)
1rst round winners bracket I play Kel and Sliq.

I drove with them for over a total of 12 hours this weekend to go to and come back from this tournament with so few people that pools allowed for everyone save 5 kids to advance, and they can't seed by location? Come on, it is automatic now. Use tio, people! With as few people there as you had, you could have literally had people seperate into groups by state and then seeded the bracket by hand :\

Other than that extremely unfortunate event, I had a good time.

Iori- That first game decided it all. Unfortunately we only have the final match recorded, because the first game was too good. Marth vs. Mewtwo over 100% each? GJ with owning with your low tier. I could pull out the "first tournament with Marth" john, but that doesn't even begin to make that match look better for me. I won, but the only thing you lost was that one hit. Good job, keep up the low tiers. :)

Chad- I wish we could have finished our 26 man iron man match :\ I still have the paper and plan on keeping it, but if we get a chance to ever do it again, we'll probably just start over. You were a character and two stock ahead if you wondered where we were. It really sucks because I had just finished taking your Pika out but wasn't able to use my high tiers, so I really have no idea how it would have gone! I heard your Fox was pretty good, make sure I play it next time.

Dope - Random *** stages + character money match = too good. Losing a total of 2 out of 3? Bad for me. Enjoy your dollar profit sir.

Jiano - You suck at Megaman.

Kel - Teach me Marth dittos. >:(

Sliq - Good job in teams! You did amazing! You were inches away from taking first place in doubles at a midwest circuit event; that is huge.

Kel - just kidding, you did good in doubles too. Also, you 3 stocking my Fox was a sad moment for me because it made me realize how much my Fox has degenerated while your Marth has improved.

Cunning - the fact that you didn't come in with a Tommy Gun and shoot up everyone in that place after the 0.9 fiasco makes me want to give you a gold medal. I know how upset I would be at that point. Sorry it happened. :(

Darkrain - Thank you for beating Jiano so not only could we laugh at him for it on the ride home, but it also kept up with the tradition of Jiano beating someone in the winner's bracket only to lose to them in the finals twice in a row.

That one Marth kid in my pool that I went Sheik on - Sorry I kinda goofed off when playing you. Marth dittos are some trouble for me as I don't get the opportunity to practice them very often (and you can't really learn it against CPU players), and I needed to know if my Sheik (which I haven't used in forever) still worked. It obviously didn't. I was hoping we'd finish our Marth ditto, but the tourney calls.

OS made some serious sheik johnz in that post.
I went Marth main that entire tournament, but I can't play Marth dittos so I wanted to see if Sheik would work against a Marth, as I knew I'd lose any Marth ditto against a respectable player. My sheik is rusty and sub par, so I lost the match and realized I had little to no chance in a Marth ditto.

No johns.

Stop denying the fact, Big C.

You need to change your location to something that
Jiano - You suck at Megaman.

This also happened at an Indiana tournament with Tink. I am cursed.

Jiano, I am being faceitious. You do not suck at Megaman, although I don't understand how that metal guy that launched the nukes was difficult.

That purple guy and the ice/lightning lady was friggin bull**** though. Seriously, WTF? You hit them like twenty times and didn't even break the shell.

I blame turnout on August. Everyone was johning about coming. And this actually did better than FRI2, which was also held in August.

You can't seed by location when there's only 34 peole lolz. And you should have just done better at other tournies, or suck more :)

don't forget Jiano you also beat vidjo in winners just to lose to him at Game Junkie.

And you do that with Drephen constantly.

Also, no month Johns Mathos! Fri2 was just the first circuit event. The concept was new and the tournament wasn't made out to be that big of a deal. In addition, Kish2 was telling me how they've actually had other FCs besides 1, 3, 6 And Diamond but just nobody went. I mean, it is in crazy-nowhere-Indiana (that's a County, I swear). Mostly I would say that locals are a huge factor in turnouts. St Louis only had like 3 people at that tournament actually from St Louis. In addition to this, the only people actually from the western side of the Midwest that actually went to this event were those 3 people.

My Point is, Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, they all made johns about how far the circuit events are. But now when we have a circuit event that's closer to all of them, they go to local tournaments. So the Midwest Circuit can't be too high of a priority for these people that skipped. SMYM had 100+ people, 35 is just such a low number to drop to. (ending sentences with prepositions is allowed now)

Lolz arguements with FC2, 4, and 5. None of them are real tournaments. I can tell you CoK has never had a big local turnout. But regardless can you blame us for giving the Western Midwest their chances/tournaments. SMYM, besides FC, has always been the biggest tournament series in the Midwest and thats why we have the championship there.

Not every event can have a billion people. You can think of it as an advantage to get more circuit points :) The council is doing our best to applease as many as possible. We listen to everyone and take into consideration many things.

Personally I had a great time at the tournament. It was well run and the store owner actually knew how to accomodate gamers. I wouldn't mind going to another one. Congratulations to Darkrain and Jiano. I believe we have another ginger in first place. And congratulations to Dmac, he has now beaten every member of CoK :-p

There weren't really other FCs. I think they said that FC2 was a coins match at Squared's house or something. The numbers they have are seemingly random, although they show up as a triangular formation.

It's true. You can end sentences with prepositions now. It is grammatically correct in today's standard usage in America.

actually, the person who won this tournament is further west than st louis (KC) so im sure they appreciate not having to drive farther than everyone just to spend all the winnings on gas money, and nebraska has come to 2 tourneys in st louis in the past, but they had another tourney going on in their city. as far as st louis players go, there were actually like around 10 of us there. I dont think its the location at all but just the timing. you also have to consider school is starting up for alot of ppl so they are moving stuff to different cities and may not have time to cut class stuff for a tournament. The first independent tourney we had in st louis brought around 50+ ppl. No circuit event, no one even knew who me or the co host were, and Darkrain was the only national power ranking player there. (actually the results for that tourney were exactly the same...darkrain 1st jiano 2nd viperboy 3rd) but the point is the ppl who couldnt come to this werent complaining about the location, they just had other stuff 2 do.

It's true. Just a week ago the Kansas City tournament drew more people than SGAB, including Echo's crew from Nebraska and people from Oklahoma. There just happens to be local tournaments in both those locations (Midwest Music Showdown and O.H.S.N.A.P.) that coincided with SGAB.

I will have full results posted soon, whenever the store owner emails them to me.

The building had over 40 people there. Its just not everyone wanted to register for all the events (see: cunning/lemon/etc) ;)

We were missing THREE st.louis smashers. We had a LOT of stl guys there, however. To whoever said nobody from st.louis showed up, lol.

We were up to 40 people who could have played at any given point. Had Nebraska showed up and COK had all their members, as well as the couple stl guys that didnt show, we would have been pushing 50, if not more. We had more people than the nebraska tourny, despite what dmac may have posted elsewhere. This was a completely well rounded circuit tourny. If someone's argument was that there weren't enough people there, I could understand if they felt they didn't have any competition. Yet as I recall, Kel did not win the circuit tournament, and I would imagine there were plenty of great players there to keep him occupied (dope, dark, cunning, kish, tj, etc etc). Though if you felt your money and time was not well spent because there were 10-15 less people there, thus ruining the experience for you, I apologize for running a bad tourny.

Personally, I had a great time. The owner made things very easy on all of us, and there were plenty of good players there to play and have a good time with.

In reference to playing local players in your bracket, I personally did ALL I could to make sure people were seperated as MUCH as could possibly be. If you felt that your pool or bracket featured too many players you played all the time, then you should have TOLD ME. I would have gladly switched them out with somebody else. As it stood, I thought I did a pretty good job at seperating the crews as best as I could.

I had a great time at this tourny. Its unfortunate that nebraska didnt come, but that wasnt that big of a deal in the grand sceme of things. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, and Im pretty sure darkrain and Jiano wont complain too much over their prize money.

Shoutouts when I post the results, hopefully soon.

I usually count Nike, myself, and smooth as well. Deku and Fred SHOULD have been there, however. Plus, we had some random people show up as well from st.louis.

Several of us are 45mins from KC, yet we are all KC.

You are the crew you play with. Quabbling over distances is just silly.

I know, I'm just giving Zig a hard time because I drove one of Zig's friends back to his house which turned out to be much further than I expected (to Zig: Jeff missed 270 and we had to go all the way across Edwardsville).

I'm all the more impressed that they can get out to St. Louis for all these smashfests with no car.

if i remember correctly... the last FoB had like 35 people, and that was a circuit event... and i probably rode for atleast 10 hours to get there. so i dont see how anyones complaining. it sounds like it would have been alot of fun, and im sorry i had to miss it. its only one event of the circuit, the rest of them will be quite east, im sure. but dont try to put anything on st louis because of location, because FoB was small in Indiana, and no one complained about that...

heh ha hah FoB yea it was small but it was in the winter. snow made ppl not go. like heat and whatnot made me not go to this bad boy. I went to a tourny an hr and a half away in a car w/ no AC like last month or something i was sticky as hell and did not enjoy it car rides w/ no AC FTL. plus i had no money. I doubt I would have went to a CoK or anything else I doubt I will be at many tournies in the near future. Not until I get a job and am there long enough to request off.

Don't get me wrong, Zig. I had a great time and the tournament was ran very well with a very, VERY nice store owner. I'm not so much talking about the St Louis Location but rather the community that complained about how far away the tournaments are from them but then not supporting this tournament. I was more talking about the fact that the Circuit was to promote the midwest as a whole and to close some gaps and create future friendships and whatnot. We can't exactly expand our region when no one goes.

My point is that the John before this tourney was distances. So now that the tournament is closer and the Eastern people still went then what gives? I just want what's good for the Midwest *sniff*....JERK!
