Get studying Teczero! We need some hype. Right now i'm pretty sure me, PH.D, and Husband will be able to attend this. So if there is ever an attendance list circulating, you should put us on there.

Is this posted in the tournaments thread?

Oh and because I always ask this at tournaments I plan on attending, are there any plans to record at this tournament?

What do you guys think of 10$ singles, 5$ teams? It's not set in stone, obviously, and I want to know what people prefer to find a good balance.

Quite honestly, I'm discouraged from playing in most tournaments because of how much it costs to play.
$5 is reasonable though, I guess you should just make whichever one is more hype cost more.

You should probably find another game then. When I started out I didn't think anything of entry fees or anything like that. I would just be so excited and playing and some guy would come over and ask me for 10$ and i'd give it to him without a second thought. Thats the kinda of attitude you need to get better. Your attitude is poor.

yeah same, entry fees also typically used to be $15 or $20. $10 is ****ing cake. People don't compete as much when the top prize is $60

Hahaha eggm is prolly pissed cuz we paid our dues, we gave all our money to azen and m2k, and now when its OUR turn to make money people want lower entry fees than the ALREADY LOWER ENTRY FEES???

blasphemy.

competitive gaming needs motivation to....stay competitive. If you aren't willing to pay $10 for a tournament that doesn't even have a venue fee, you probably aren't really trying to be a competitive player imo

Thanks so much for hosting these, Joe. If we ever hope to be a competitive force again in Melee we have to have an active region. And every little bit helps.

The Newlyweds will be there, trying out our new team. Looking forward to it.

edit: If my position wasn't already clear, here it is:

I got good at Melee real fast, and here is why. I would drive halfway across the country, spend $20 on a double elimination tournament, lose twice and have to drive home. That's motivation.

And what made matters worse, if you sucked no one would talk to you or give you friendlies.

People should feel fortunate we treat noobs with respect nowadays. But if we lower entrance fees anymore, well that's called enabling. Enabling scrubbiness. We say it's okay to lose, when it's not. If we get the competitive drive back we can restore glory to MD/VA!! **

**for those who are too new to know, MD/VA used to have as much talent as the rest of the country combined.

kk thanks see everyone there!

You know this only really applies to the smash community.
I don't really see this problem elsewhere. The smash community has always been on the cheap side. =\

Also. I need a teammate. I have not played most of you guys though. :(

Will there be a smashfest sometime before this tourney?
