Can I ask the reverse scenario of this?

I play Zelda and there are times where people wait for me to change to shiek being polite thinking I forgot. and I kick them and they are like "wtf you're playing Zelda?"

Is it rude of me to not mention I'm being Zelda not shiek when I pick her?

EDIT: this is no so common in southern tournaments as alot of people know me by now. But I've been to a few internationals where this has happened quite often. Alot of times they try to change characters after realizing I'm not being Shiek. Although I don't think they should be allowed to change characters, cuz now it feels like they are just trying to counter pick me.

yes. that is vaguely rude. you are supposed to tell your character who you pick. generally that's just a formality as whoever you select is your character, but in the zelda/sheik case it is not just a formality, you should let them know. i alos think that if anyone stands still and waits for you to transform and you hit them, you should let them restart. just if you notice they're not moving at match start, tell them you aren't going to transform.

well in the three situations this could occur:
first match, it's blind pick, he shouldn't be counterpicking you
their counterpick: you have to state you're playing zelda. Opponent should assume that you may change to shiek during the match as that is an available option and should thus counterpick accordingly
you're counterpick: you are counterpicking them so they don't theoretically need to be told who you are choosing.

At the end of the day, the opponent shouldn't just forget about zelda just cos she's a 'bad character' and should assume the match has started from the go. If they're a shiek main and they forgot, tough **** imo, if you're that scared of switching just learn zelda

don't both players have to say who they're playing regardless of counter-pick? they say 'staying' or choose a different.

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh lol

who the hell made that rule

you don't have to say ****

if you get ****ed up by a zelda and you picked a character to go against sheik

too bad so sad

if you thought they were staying zelda and you cp ganon or something and they hold a and chaingrab

get devastated !!!!!!!!!!

if someone asked me what char i was going if i picked zelda

i'd say zelda/sheik

because i have the right to switch to any at anytime i want

i would assume most people would be nice enough to allow the change, even if they hate sheik. other wise the sheik player would reset the match, or just start with a 30%-40% disadvantage,

Seems getting mixed opinions on the not transforming thing/expecting me to be sheik ect. So if say they counter pick my sheik with falco and Zelda handles falcos pretty good especially when they don't know the matchup. I shouldn't have to say I'm being Zelda right? Even though it's his counter pick Zelda/sheik can counter pick his counter lol that's ok right? Should be the advantage of having a good zelda

I'd capitalize on it. Their fault if they have a ****ty Zelda. They should know full well how to use all of their character's options.
