Someone mentioned Rottytops teasing Pit, and while I could see that happening due to her personality being somehat similar to Phosphora's, chances are she'd find it far easier to get under Luigi's skin if she wanted to.

When you think about it, Shantae kind of embodies the entire Captain N crew. She jumps like Megaman, whips like Simon and dungeon-crawls like Pit. (Also, am I the only one to not notice the Castlevania references in Cackle Tower until now? Skeletons that lob bones and vampires(?) with morning-star whips as their weapon of choice?)

Not to mention the blatant Castlevania 2 reference in Risky's Revenge.

There was a leak about Dante and Ken and then all of a sudden the fan base of those twp went up 75% and everyone wanted them. Then when the leak was proven false, everyone was gone.

Same with Heihachi and Waluigi. Everyone was a Waluigi and Heihachi fan until Waluigi was revelaed an assist trophy and the Heihachi leak was proven false.

Gamefaqs love to bandwagon and hate on popular characters that aren't 100% possible.

Nah, Geno gets a ton of hate over there too, honestly more overall negativity surrounding him than positivity from a significant margin from what I’ve seen (in the past month or so since I’ve started occasionally checking).

Now the hate for Shantae is probably approaching critical mass over there in comparison to be fair, but the whole site can just be super frustrating.

I hope she makes it in, if not on the base roster, than as DLC later on (I think she’s a prime DLC candidate honestly if she gets no mention in the game).

SmashBoard seems so pleasant after being in Gamefaqs for so long. It's such a huge difference in feeling.

So on those sites the individual characters are more segregated? Well, I guess Smashboards was made with all forms of Smash discussion in mind, so that would make sense. The other sites were not made for Smash.

I'll bring this up again to sparkle some discussion, i think that the Nindies Direct was the perfect time to reveal Shantae, and since she wasn't shown in it i feel like she's either going to be either an A.T. or a DLC character, but she's probably not going to be shown as a last surprise reveal in a Nintendo or Smash Direct. I really want her in but, realistically speaking, most people are expecting a fat character reveal like Geno or Isaac, and also Nintendo is definitively adding an ARMS and a Xenoblade character as DLC before any 3rd party characters.

From what I saw at gamefaqs, it's not that bad. It's not as good as smashboards though.. and it's not really as well organized as here. not that it can't all be better.

I like Bandana Dee. But it's funny because for that one I don't care who doesn't like him. You can not like him if you want, we can even talk about it, or not.
I love the kirby games, and BD is actually pretty fun, I'm curious how he'll translate to smash.
That said I do wish the kirby games had a hard difficulty option, because they're way too easy.

As for Isaac, at this point I just don't feel like having him in as another sword fighter. I'll accept him if he's in, maybe even play him, but I'd really rather have someone else. I know, he's an earth caster too, but earth to me is a bit boring. That's just me. I just can't relate anymore to when I did like him now.
We can't help but have preferences...

I mean, none of us were shocked that she was not shown, so I doubt it affects much. Plus, they have already shown several characters that could have been that big final reveal, so I don't think that matters much. One thing I want to bring up, and this was brought up in the Geno thread if I recall, but there is a theory that says that each newcomer will be announced based off the date of there first appearance(With Inkilings as the exception, both because of how they were announced and the fact that everyone new they were gonna be in, might as well get it out of the way). There's just too much suspicious behavior from WayForward for her to be an AT, and honestly I think that anything Smash related would have taken away from the Nindies Direct so it made sense for them not to show her there. Although the "but we have one more announcement" thing that they did at the end of the Direct was a total troll move and I think they knew it.

But I've always said that if she's not base roster, Shantae will be DLC.
