Sure, he can, but that doesn't necessarily mean he should.
Oh, sure, they eventually acknowledged who did anti-gravity first with DLC, but the damage was done. Now picture this, but for Metroid.

I mean, I can't really picture Mario attacking people by throwing his hands at them, or transforming via belly dancing.

It's not the theft itself that's problematic, it's what it symbolizes. F-Zero just couldn't compete with Mario Kart without enough to set it apart, and with the latter taking the one thing that did says a lot. A metaphorical nail in the coffin if you will.

The reason it happened is because Miyamoto "ran out of ideas".
And I'm not even sure how this comparison even happened, since I don't think Mario threatens to steal genres from third parties, otherwise we'd have a monopoly.
Anyway let's just move along, this just took a depressing turn.

That will be the earliest we hear anything about Shantae 5, and the lastest for any new smash characters. If we don't get anything during Jokers reveal then we have to wait till then

The Link to the Past thing is what's most interesting.
I don't see them releasing another 2d remake with Link' Awakening just around the corner, so that makes me think that this could be a port to the Switch eshop (since Best Buy does sell code cards for downloads) If that's the case we could finally be getting some virtual console-esq content for the Switch finally.

I imagine they will. I don't recall where I heard this ir if it's even true, but I am pretty sure they said that they would keep Linkle in mind when making the main line games.

I just feel like a female Link would work great in regards to the original concept of Link.
He was created as someone who the players could reflect themself as, and adding a female version would improve the inversion into the game a lot.

I get the feeling that if they are going to make a female Link for a game, they are going to go all in and make the Link exclusively female.

Nintendo will not gender bent their characters. That is something from a fanart of deviantart would do lol. People keep forgetting WHY Link is a Male protagonist in the first place.

Except Link was created by Shigeru Miyamoto himself so Japan unlike anywhere else it seems nowadays tend to respect a creator's work. Keep Link as male and created NEW female characters for the series as they have so far done. Leave the SJW nonsense out of Nintendo.
EDIT: If you all wouldn't want SHANTAE to be made a BOY(which would go against her creators wishes IF you guys remember the story behind it) then you should not expect the same from Link. End of Story.
