Ah, apologies. Um, there's still nothing on Risky being in it though, so that's something, I guess? Uh...

I have a theory, what if that shadowy thing in the background of the Shantae 5 promo art is Shantae's house...underwater? What if Sequin Land has been sunk under the ocean by Risky in some manner?

If that does turn out to be the case, thank god Rotty is able to swim!

(Also, in the first game, if Risky was able to obtain the Dribble Stone, I'd say she could have actually done that. The Dribble Stone can create an infinite amount of water, after all?)

for game content though I would LOVE a nega shantae mode where you get to fight skye, bolo, rotty and her family, mimic, even the mayor.
the succubus and naga transformations from the hgh possibile transformations look cool as well.

Now you know how folks in Japan feel when their characters' established voice actors get replaced. For instance, you could imagine how they reacted when the Lupin III regular VAs had to all get temporary substitutes for the Plot of the Fuuma Clan film.

It's easier to swallow when a VA dies or retires though.

"Infinite" does not mean "massive". It may technically produce unlimited quantities of water, but far too slowly to flood anything.

The shadow looks more like a shipwreck to me.

Don’t you think that would be over the top, even for Risky? Her whole motivation is to rob Sequin Land blind, not destroy it outright.

She wants total conquest of Sequin Land, but apparently setting a bunch of dark genies loose to wreak havoc on it with no obvious way to control them is close enough (unless the Pirate Master's corruption grants her innate dominion over other dark magic-corrupted beings as he once did).

Will this game be the one to bring that redemption arc we were apparently supposed to get in Half-Genie Hero?

Any poor schmuck corrupted by dark magic, probably with the Pirate Master behind the scenes. I still think he was done away with an ambiguous enough manner to bring him back.

Or it could be one of those "greater threats" outside Sequin Land mentioned by the genie's messenger.

I guess no one else wants to know exactly where Risky came from.

Wherever it was, the Pirate Master probably razed it to the ground before "recruiting" Risky. Place is probably unrecognizable even to her by this point.

This could extend to gameplay with dark spells and transformations, the latter being less proficient at navigating but stronger in a fight.

Probably.
Playing as other characters is always welcomed in platformers like Shantae.

Somewhat, but it makes sense when you think about it; each Nintendo console generation got exactly one exclusive Shantae title (putting aside ports and the HGH Kickstarter being established so that there can be a Shantae title on the Wii U), so Shantae 5 is the Switch generation's console entry.

Maybe those djinni, ifrits or whatever could have been guardians of Sequin Land along with genies in ancient times, but were highly reclusive due to specializing in darkness which, while not evil in itself at this point, was still dangerous and destructive enough to make people fearful of them, the seclusion being why no one remembers them. Then the Pirate Master (possibly a rogue djinn himself) came and started conquering everything with dark magic, cursing and corrupting it in the process. The djinn were nearly wiped out, except maybe a few hidden survivors that preserved a small helping of pure dark magic to this day, until Shantae stumbles upon it...

Why yes. Well, the Friends to the End, anyway (yes, that is what I decided how refer to Shantae's group of friends, collectively). Scuttle Town needs all the help it can get when Shantae's not available.

I can't stress enough how great Konjak's output is. Noitu Love 2 was basically used as practice in regards to handling multiple protags.

Building on that dark transformations thought I just had, I have a few ideas for them. As mentioned, they trade mobility for more or better attacks.

Dark Monkey: Can use Monkey Claw and latch onto enemies for damage by jumping or Monkey Bulleting them, but can only cling to walls and bullet off them.

Dark Elephant: Charges and stomp become some of the most damaging moves in the game, and the latter stuns grounded enemies, but charges have less distance and can only jump straight up.

Dark Spider: Can catch enemies with webbing to drain health from them and spit venom, but loses background climbing and web shot has less range.

Dark Harpy: Has both forms of Harpy Talon (swipe and feather shot) in addition to a dive bomb, but can only jump and hover.

Dark Mermaid: Can charge bubble shots, to the point of performing the spinning bubble attack seen in boss fights, but swims slower.

That banjo rumor about playtonic that Billy covered, we sure that was debunked? because they seem to keep teasing more and more for april first. could be an april fools thing yes, but still. That 1 4chan rumor only Laxchris talked about seems the most legit due to being right about a new shantae game coming. Plus I can see both Banjo and steve making it along with Shantae and a Bravely default character. The later because... SE is very odd and maybe just cannot get the rights to DQ

Ninja Gaiden is cool and all, but this doesn't feel very original after The Messenger came out not that long ago.
