Well, there you have it. Just as I suspected, the spirits don't have control over the actions of their puppets. Galeem does.

The wording implies Galeem didn't destroy the trophy bodies these spirits inhabited, he's just holding them captive. So if you were to reclaim one the spirit belonged to...

Well, suffice it to say plot consistency isn't really an obstacle to spirits being playable in the future at this point.

Finally something to stop this stupid argument about spirits deconfirm.

Considering the similarities between new Zelda and Shantae (down to them even being the same age, sorta), she's begging to be the base for a future Shantae DLC.

Thanks. Only new things I know of now is the fact that Giga Bowser and other boss characters are now a part of the Boss Lineup for Classic Mode instead of ending it on the Master Hand/Crazy Hand duo. Personally, I'm a little saddened that Ultimate retired Master Hand as being the definitely final boss for Classic Mode, but at the same time, it's so awesome if only for the sub-speculation that's likely to have gone underway for more Boss Characters.

imo, the game was created without thinking about the DLCs. Which means that no one is deconfirmed, not even the Assist Trophies.

Thats what I've been saying. I'm sure they new there'd be DLC, but they don't plan the base game for it. DLC is the dessert that you get afterward that adds to the game.

what's even weirder is that Matt Bozon had to backpedal on his 4 out of 5 dlc hashtag for shantae on twitter earlier this month and saying it was due to the hashtag confusing people(his little joke)but is it possible that he unknowingly might be seen as confirming shantae for dlc(something that this far ahead sakurai and nintendo would disapprove of)

i mean he was pretty quick to delete it too and the theory says that it was because he was told to delete it(why be in that quick of a hurry to delete a jokey post that people were confused by unless nintendo brought the hammer down on him?)

Who knows. My theory is that shantae was considered to be a fighter, but sakurai or someone higher up felt like she wouldnt be well recieveed or not good enough for a move set. So they said to matt if he could prove with out much provoking that shantae was wanted enough, she would be a dlc, and they were blown out of the water with the sheer amount of support she got almost immediately, thus getting her a dlc spot. Alternativley she might have been planned as the obscure promotional character, like marth, pit, and shulk, but was moved back to dlc so a fan favorite character could be in base, and matt was trying to raise the spirits of everyone.

Hard to say. All the new DLC characters last game were kinda top teir so maybe she would be too

its possible. Also possible he did that to show to nintendo shantae still had the fanbase willing to pay for her. Maybe nintendo asked him to do that to show how popular she is.

I think from the start Sakurai had the plan, the characters we saw, plus Plant but that was moved to post launch early due to time. He knew he couldn't fit Shantae or anymore in base game, but wanted to still represnt them, like rex, so made them either mii costumes or spirits.

i can't see her being skipped again either especially seeing as there isn't really a lot of fan favorite choices for dlc left and if Xenblade 2 was too recent then no way will they be repping a gen 8 pokemon or fire emblem three houses

Matt doesn't know. He didnt know there were 5 slots left for dlc (cuz the plant doesnt count). I understood his joke in that context, but most people didn't, for a few reasons.

He wanted to start promoting shantae again because the NDA was over and he thought any character had a chance for dlc. This was before Sakurai said the characters had already been chosen.

I honestly dont know which characters have a chance at dlc. Right now it's up in the air for me.

I think shantae could be likely with all that’s going for her dlc wise and I really hope she gets chosen to make it into the roster. Given how Nintendo is more friendly with indies lately and Shantaes history, she makes perfect sense as the indie representative. I just wonder if sakurai would say yes to her if nintendo suggested it cause there isn’t any new shantae game on the horizon as of now and sakurai loves promotion characters.

They did say that they'd show all the characters, but I'm guessing there's bound to be some hidden tracks and other items in the game. Just speculating though.

Honestly, dlc character stuff is a lot less intensive than a whole game. I'd say he'll be fine, or someone else can do the extra stuff. But it's true really we dont know if there'll be a season 2 or not. I'll be surprised if there isn't, but it's always possible they dont care about the extra money.. on such a big game. It'd be a wasted opportunity for them as well as the fans, anyway. The game is ultimate even with just 5 dlc characters tho
