Yo we really need to manage expectations in this thread.
Please, please, please do not overestimate what dedicated fan support can accomplish for a character joining the Smash Bros. roster. The whole damn Internet could be crying out with one voice, begging for Shantae be added to Smash Bros. as DLC, and that still wouldn't guarantee her a spot. Getting vocal doesn't guarantee that the right people will even hear you.
Don't mistake me for a pessimist. I still believe Shantae has a meaningful chance at being DLC at some point during Ultimate's life cycle. I also still believe that dedicated fan support can improve a character's odds. I'm as ready as ever to fight the good fight.
However, I'm seeing too many people here talk about the burnout they are experiencing, about the effort and the emotional toll that might come with another year-long or longer campaign for Shantae in Smash. About whether all this is really worth it for how much difference it will make.
Please, for your own sakes, do not be here and do not fight for Shantae as a personal sacrifice to help her get into Smash. There's no guarantee that your sacrifice will even make a difference. It might, but your time and your emotional well being are worth a lot more than that. If you are going to participate in our little community here, if you are going to show your support on Twitter or Reddit or Smashboards, if you are going to take the time to make all that kickass Shantae art... make sure you are doing it just for fun. Make sure it's something you'd be willing to do entirely for its own sake.
And I genuinely hope that all of you do continue to participate here. And I love all the awesome Shantae fan art I see here, I can't believe how much artistic talent there is here in this thread. But this needs to be a healthy, positive experience for everyone involved. If you need a break from this site, then take one. If you need a break from making fan art and thinking about Shantae's chances and all that, then please, take one. But if you find this stressing you out to the point that you need a break from it, then I implore you to re-evaluate your relationship with the Shantae for Smash campaign. Participating here and drawing fan art and all should be a source of stress relief, not stress.
I don't mean to rant, but for the health of this thread, for the health of everyone here individually, and even indirectly for the health of the broader Shantae campaign, we all need to make sure we are doing this for the right reasons, and with reasonable expectations for what may or may not come of it.
