Going to bed early (2AM is early for me lol) when I wake up i look forward to getting on this ride one last time, then finally, finally i'll be free
We're never free! Well, not until they officially wrap up DLC anyway. I love your signature by the way. The original Shantae always reminded me of Wario Land for some reason so I think it's super fitting.
Man, there are so many developments to comment on, there was so much stuff in this thread from ages ago that I wanted to respond to, and that I wanted to share on here. In these last few hours before the Direct though, I'll content myself with typing out a random idea I had for how Shantae's reveal trailer might go if she gets revealed today.
The scene fades in from black. The first thing you see is a first person view of a crude treasure map, spread out, clutched on either side in Wario's hands. As the video zooms out slightly, you can see that Wario is staring at it, walking along a wooden bridge, very much resembling the sorts of wooden bridges you see connecting the islands to Shantae's lighthouse.
Wario finally comes to a stop, studying the map with a confused look on his face, until a pair of hands reaches over him and turns the map right-side-up. The camera pans back to reveal Captain Falcon, apparently treasure hunting with Wario. Captain Falcon looks slightly exasperated as Wario gives an embarrassed laugh at his mistake.
The pair turn around, this time with Captain Falcon leading the way. They cross back over a small little island, and Falcon steps onto the next bridge, when out of nowhere a giant cannonball blasts through the bridge right where the good Captain was standing. Wario lets out a yelp of surprise, and turns around, running. He skids to a halt at the other edge of the island as another cannonball blasts that bridge to smithereens too.
Wario stands there for a moment, and his expression of surprise and fear turns to one of determination. He turns around to face the dark silhouette of a pirate standing across from him on the little island. Instantly recognizable as Risky Boots to Shantae fans. Wario glares and slowly steps forward, rolling up his sleeves, when...
WHAM!! From out of nowhere an elephant (again, immediately recognizable to Shantae fans) lands between them on the island, facing Risky. The impact sends both of them flying away, we don't see whether or not they land on their feet. There is a flash of light, in which we see Shantae's silhouette, in her end-transformation pose from the original game. She does a slight pirouette and stands with her back to the camera for just a moment. Then she turns, and strikes a pose, and we get the splash screen:
SHANTAE IS RET-2-GO!
Cue gameplay footage, including a Lighthouse stage with RIsky's Pirate ship in the background shooting cannonballs that clear portions of bridge between islands, similar to what we see in the cinematic and what you remember from the first stage of every Shantae game. Occasionally Risky Boots leaps off the ship into the foreground to act as a stage boss. Squid Baron assist trophy because of course.
The gameplay wraps up with some kind of final smash revolving around her friends assisting her.
After the gameplay wraps up and the screen fades black, we hear the cry of gulls, and the screen fades back in, showing Captain Falcon drifting along in the sea, holding onto a floating log. He looks up, watching as a couple tinker bats glide by on a small raft with a little mini engine attached. Fade back to black.
End of scene.
