Could anyone possibly draw this scenario for me?

I suck at perspective and characters, so that's why I'm asking. Also, I think it'd be funny to see.

Oh noes, hide your kids, we're all doomed, these are end times boys, rip in pepperoni.

For being so sure of her inclusion, you really like thinking about our evidence being debunked, huh?
And, he's freaking LaxChris. What in god's name could he possibly do to us? Has he ever said something intelligent and insightful once?

Maybe not specifically protecting her "from the haters", but a Doom and Shantae crossover drawing would be pretty cool. :)

Just ignore him. He has no effect on my mentality. As for the drawing, I won't do it, but good luck finding a guy who'd do it.

Also, I think that would mean someone would ban the guy from this thread if he were to truly bring negativity. And besides, knowing him, he wouldn't know how to debunk our stuff.
But yeah, just go with Dylly and don't make too much a peep out of this.

I actually just found a DOOM X Shantae crossover on FanFiction.net. It's on the intense side, as it starts with Shantae being warped into Hell, but it's surprisingly well written.

That's interesting. Mind if you message me the link? Or do I just search Shantae Doom or something to that effect?
I'm back from my vacation, so can anybody give me the lowdown on what's been going on this thread in the past few days?
Our North Carolinan lord and savior AlphaStoutland posted a video detailing the vast majority of all circumstantial evidence for Shantae in Smash, maybe some fake leaks here and there, LaxChris being on here, and that's it really. Oh, and Toy would like a Shantae/Doom Slayer fanart thing.

I’ve mentioned this before, but in the advent of all the fanart I see posted on here, something I’d love to see more in not just Shantae’s but for fanart in general is for characters that can transform interacting with each other while in their other forms in a casual/normal setting, it’s just something in that idea I find endearing. Gomigomipomi does that a lot in her art of the Squid Sisters:

Unrelated, but as you can tell, I really love Gomi’s art and the way she portrays the Squid Sisters and their relationship. I could honestly see Shantae and Sky having a relationship like this

Connor, some people are not worth your time.
And they wont change their tune even if you challenge them anyway, so why bother?

If they suck, it's going to speak for itself anyway.

I want to say something regarding the discussion on the past two pages. I work at a big company, and I've been involved with big projects, and trust me, the amount of people who are aware of everything regarding the project are very few. So Smash Bros. having people on its dev team who aren't aware of everything that's in the game is very likely. In fact, I'll be very surprised if that WASN'T the case. This is done precisely to prevent full leaks from happening, and I'm not just talking about video games, but pretty much any market. The safety measures taken by companies to prevent stuff from leaking are huge, and they won't tell someone something if they don't have to.

Hey guys! I'm back!

I took a break for a bit to get my mind off a Smash. Worked For a while. And my Birthday is on the 15th! Yaaaay! So...any new Shantae or what?

But, I went to check on a reddit and uh....3 hours ago, THIS was posted. Some people on Twitter said the same happened to them, but their are so few that most assumed its fake. At least at the time I'm writing this. Its late as all heck.

Anyway, a notification for a Smash Direct happened (mostly for mobile users). However. It was QUICKLY, and SWIFTLY taken before we can confirm its legitimacy. Up to you guys to decide.

Did anyone else get a notification from Youtube?

Its nice to be addicted to Shantae in Smash again.

I don't know, did that guy talk fake stuff about Smash before? And are the others claiming to saw it just bandwagoning?

Anyway, here's some thoughts on Shantae I've seen...

https://twitter.com/omelettecounty/status/1043212658965540864

"i just don’t think shantae is that interesting, let alone ‘smash’ interesting

if she were one of the first characters, alongside Shovel Knight, who would have been far more deserving of a spot, then maybe i’d say differently."

"yeah it’s kinda interesting how you never actually see anyone want her because of the quality of her games. I wonder what it actually has to do with
"

I think she's a better choice than Shovel Knight objectively, she's a character who has a bigger history, more games (QUALITY GAMES), much more music and locations to pull from, better match ups (Bayonetta, Ryu and MegaMan of Capcom who she was originally published by, Sonic), more of personality and vibe that would come out in combat, wider move set. If I were a dev, the choice would be simple and if she's in the game I wouldn't be surprised at all.

Yeah, Shovel Knight is a great game, but as a character he is just a little boring. A generic suit of armor with no emoting at all, And in his game he doesn't even do much in regard to body language to make up for it. I mean all the real personality we get from SK is when he raises his shovel in the air in victory and when he is jumping with his arm held out to catch Shield Knight in his dreams.

Shantae on the other hand is almost pure personality. Right down to basic things like idle and crouching animations.

That still doesn't answer the question on how leakers came into contact with key members of the team, if they are telling the truth.

I think the first question we need to ask here is...
Are the leakers living in Japan?
Or do they speak japanese at least?

Man only 10 more pages to 400. To think not long ago we were only in the double digits.

Anyway it's that time again(and Dyllybirdy Dyllybirdy you don't have to worry about repeats. Just post gifs about our favorite zombie girl). So how is everyone doing today?

But man, I can't believe someone took the Shantae in the poster fanart as a leak lol. Lack of research that one did.

In regards to how leaks go from Nintendo to leakers:
There have been assumptions here that leaks originate in Japan. There is a possibility the leaks originate in one of the western branches of Nintendo. My guess is one of the Treehouse people blabbing. I recall a few having some connection to videogame journalists.

However, that doesn't make much sense.
If we go by the argument that even the dev team as a whole doesn't know everything, save for a few key members (like Sakurai), how come anyone outside of the dev-team would?

So yeah, I won't buy that the Treehouse-people or video game journalists are in the know.
And as such, those aren't leaks but rumors.

About the Doomguy talk...

The current one's personality (it's subtle given the first person perspective but it's there) is rather close to Samus's. I suppose the closest analogy to him in Shantae would be that warrior in the Village of Lost Souls. Shooting a gremlin isn't too different from an imp, right?

Well at least with Samus we know what she looks like under that armor. Doomguy…..do we even have a face under that armor?

As someone who works for a Japanese company, nearly every email that is sent out is easily Google translatable. If it is indeed a Japanese person sending that info, they likely wouldn't use complicated words or phrases so it would be easier to translate.

On the other hand, you have to remember that there are plenty of people on the foreign side who have access to this information due to the game needing to be translated for foreign markets. This includes any smash directs or Nintendo directs with smash info. Translation for foreign projects occurs almost a year in advance.

Edit: I also wanted to mention that, using my company who equally tries to prevent leaks of future products as a base, any translation that occurs is probably spread through about 6 people in the same Department of whatever individual foreign market the game is going to. Each induvidual is probably given a base translation of their slice of the game to work with from Nintendo, like we give out. But they do have to have the whole script for the game as a collective. so while they definitely are under a non-disclosure, 6 people is more vulnerable to leak than one person is. Nintendo will also sometimes Outsource their translation. Which puts it at even greater risk of leak. But it's just how the industry works. And it's a risk that every company takes. So in theory, Verg could be friends with, say, one or two members of a translation team.

I'm not saying his leaks are necessarily everything, but I am saying it's not *impossible* for him to have a informational "in" and that person not be from Nintendo in Japan.

Uhhhhh can you verify that?
EDIT: Also, what's thhe Children of the Lamp theory??
I don't think we can verify that she's the most popular indie character worldwide, but she is very popular. I think on a forum like this though you're going to have gross overstatements like that. She's been on Nintendo's front pages in their magazines, eshop, and she's apparently high selling on their 3DS for the home page background.
The Children of the Lamp theory is sonethibg I proposed a couple of dozen pages back.

So Everyone!
want something that makes stretch-armstrong look inflexible?
so as my name suggests I'm moderately obsessed with Shantae, speculation, and Smash Bros. So I've been looking for that Blue book in the background of the 8/8 direct. Hard as ****!
BUT what if I can't find it because it's a caricature of a book? What if I can't find it because they wouldn't be allowed to have/advertise a book that's not theirs? It got me thinking...
I did a little sifting and I found This... The background is blue, it appears to have a bird, a boat, and the ocean on it. The lettering on the book in the direct looks as though it could be CotL (Children of the Lamp) .
is it likely? Probably not, but I need to find a conclusion for this obsession so I can stop.
The only thing I'd add is the weird font and color on the C matches the original book as well. I think I also added that they probably just used CotL as well.

They never said that the Wii U version broke sales records, only the Switch version.

They mentioned the Wii U was the only "last-gen" relevant system when HGH would be completed.

Google Translate sucks though.
Plus, let's not forget that some characters have completely different names in the different regions.

Still, I think these people only work on a need-to-know basis.
Aka, they only know as much as required for them to do their job properly.

After all, if Nintendo is so afraid of leaks, it makes sense to feed limited knowledge to these people, if even the devs don't have the full picture apparently.

Edit: I also wanted to mention that, using my company who equally tries to prevent leaks of future products as a base, any translation that occurs is probably spread through about 6 people in the same Department of whatever individual foreign market the game is going to. Shame me all you want about this, I won't change my mind.

Though it is confusing...
You say you don't really believe the leakers and yet you present arguments strengthening their case.
Isn't that counterproductive? oO

Even if those character do have different names, it’s not like A quick google search can’t just tell them who it is. For simple Japanese, google translate does just fine. Hell, our Japanese associates use it when they are too lazy to send emails off to our in-house translators. It’s not perfect, obviously (and sometimes painfully), but if you understand what the context of the conversation is, you could easily figure it out.

The thing is though, in order to sell and market the game the translation needs to be done far in advance in order to get the go ahead from Nintendo and Sora Limited and get retail distribution on board. And you’re right, the translator departments would only individually have the bits and pieces they specifically are working on.

I mean, I’m not saying leakers online are accurate. I’m just saying it’s not *impossible* for someone like Verg, someone who has done accurate and inaccurate leaks in the past, to be friends with someone on a localization team who has a few of the bits and pieces of the script, which he is then using as the basis for his text leaks. He might be full of it, he might not be. We won’t know until the full roster is out. I’m just saying it’s not as impossible as you’d think.

As a side note, I’d actually be really surprised if Sora limited and Nintendo didn’t use some kind of code names for the game information internally. Our company almost never utilized the actual product name when development, marketing, and regulatory analysis is being done, exactly to compartmentalization knowledge. If I had to hazard a guess, if Verg is truly getting info from somewhere, it’s proably a localization team member or a third party translator.
