This is not about Shantae's chances, but simply about being a considerate person.

The common conseus here, is that WayForward is probably under an NDA.
They can't speak, even if they wanted to.
No amount of questions will change that.

And honestly, as fan-oriented as they are, I can imagine them not liking having to give their fans the cold shoulder like that.
Since this is not what they'd normally do.

And I think it's possible that the more questions they have to turn down, the worse they'll feel about it.
I simply wouldn't want to take that risk and contribute to that possibility of making them feel miserable.

That's why I don't want people to keep pestering them like this.


Either way, you won't get an answer. So you're just wasting your time.

It's fine if you feel that way, but again. No way of knowing if that's actually right, and honestly, they could be enjoying the attention for all we know.

No notable harm done really, and a Shantae support thread is the last place I'd expect discouraging someone in that regard. Not like they're even being rabid about it.

You do you, and I'll do me. Plenty of other support bases ask, looking for any evidence they can possibly get. Don't see why the Shantae fanbase should have to be any different.

Who are you to judge what is a waste of time to other people? I'd be surprised if anyone writing WF actually expected an answer. It's just a way to vent their excitement and show their support for a character.

If tweeting at WF, expecting that they won't answer, makes someone an inconsiderate person, then that's a reeaaaally low bar in my opinion.

And I don't expect WF to be a bunch of crybabies that feel miserable because a possible NDA keeps them from ruining a giant surprise. Nah, from my point of view, I'd enjoy to see people so excited about my content and look forward to the eventual announcment.

Feel like this perfectly summed up my thoughts about the whole pestering Wayforward.
Honestly, no matter how much they love their fans, business is business. They understand that they can’t breach contract and respond to fans as a trade off to having Shantae in smash. And I don’t think that is tearing them apart(if it is, then they’re not cut out for the grueling video game business, no matter how sweet and amazing they are.)

In my opinion, if I was WF I would be LOVING the buzz about Shantae. Any business wants their product(character) being talked about. It creates buzz and exposes Shantae to people she may not have been exposed to before. I can attest to this...I had no idea who Shantae was until I heard so much buzz about her from her vocal fan base without anything but extremely positive things to say about it...and I’m very glad I know and support her now because of it!

On the other hand tho, if it’s bothering people on this site, then maybe don’t bring it up just to avoid conflict so we don’t build up a ton of pages of just arguing.

I'm disappointed we haven't had more Assist Trophy reveals. I understand not going crazy with character reveals but please Sakurai, spill out some character neglections just to make the speculation more interesting.

Why don't you ask if WF is bothered by the tweets. Normally I think what they do is either skim or ignore people so they won't be bothered. Well I would, if I had a Twitter but I don't.
I still think asking any person the same question over and over again, even though it was clear the first time they won't do it, would eventually be met with annoyance and frustration.

But it's not like asking them the same question again and again will help anyone.
They won't reply. And the game is almost complete, so it's too late to make any difference now.

That said, there's ultimately no shame in being an assist trophy, because that does mean that Sakurai has heard us and hasn't forgotten about us. However, acting like spoiled brats and saying "oh shantae can't be an assist trophy!!!1!!1one!!1!" and constantly tweeting and effectively badgering Sakurai, Nintendo, WayForward, and any of their employees will bring shame upon us all and that needs to cease and desist right now! Knock it off! This vent is not directed towards Paragon, nor is it generally directed to anyone in particular.
