On another note, I saw some people listing their character picks, here's my 'generous' list right now:
(they're kind of a mix of my predictions and wants, so there's still a little bit of bias )

Honestly it's one of the best things you've found up to now

Like, even though I doubt they planned it for in that direct, the pile of coincidence in that one instance is so strong that I have to tip my non-existent hat and wonder what's going on, and maybe there's something greater at work, if not conciously then maybe unconsciously


Also, what was the thing about a pokemon trailer evidence or something?

I don't know what you mean.

What I mean is that there's no reason at all to think it has to do with Shantae, whatsoever, especially considering the time and context of the pokemon.
The only reason it catches attention now is because right before the nindies[oops sorry meant the nintendo direct] they posted the egsecutor picture on the blog.

To form some kind of crazy line of hints like that would not just be abnormal, it would be.. I dunno, very very weird, it's like several layers of connection and I doubt anyone would think that way. But it makes for interesting wonderings here now :D

Also in simons trailer Luigi had a different poltergeist than the previous one which led up to the reveal of Luigi’s mansion 3

A scrolling "Burning Scuttle Town" would be the ideal catch-all for a Shantae stage, given it appears in both the oldest AND newest games with almost the exact same hazards between them. And for a bit of Pirate's Curse, have Ammo Baron attack instead for an alternate version of the stage.

Since everyone's posting their wants, I'll post mine, with thoughts for each:

1. Shantae: Seems obvious here, but it shocks me how much more I grew to appreciate this character and this series just from popping into this thread one day. I bought some of the Half-Genie Hero DLC some time after, which gave me a whole new view of it.

2. Monster Hunter/Felyne: The last of Capcom's "big three" franchises to be fully represented. Though having a stage or item that could bring multiple monsters to the fray would be nice too.

3. Reiji Arisu: I'm not gonna say much about him, since I'll wager I'm the only person here to know who he is. Suffice it to say he'd be an awesome left-field Namco pick.

4. Rex & Pyra/Mythra: The best choice for a new Xenoblade rep, they have potential to be a very interesting hybrid of several existing characters to make something new.

5. Dr. Coyle: We want females, we want villains, Coyle's a female villain from a fresh new franchise and a great personality. Yeah, Spring Man is much more likely as an ARMS rep (it baffles me why people even consider Ribbon Girl to be a suitable echo for him), but I can dream.

6. Medusa: The OG Kid Icarus villain that really didn't get the screentime she deserved in the revival... though it also makes good use of that time to develop her. She's a lot like Risky Boots in some ways. Just knowing she isn't forgotten would help ensure that potential isn't wasted.

The connections with luigi there are pretty direct (or easily leads up), nothing like the indirectness we're talking about here..

I'll say it again, some of the "hints" before that direct could very well have applied to Isabelle, like the yellow chair matching her primary color and Alolan Exeggutor referencing Tortimer Island in New Leaf, Isabelle's headlining appearance. It's farfetched and may only mean something to some of us here, but because there was something weird about the nindies direct (the missing blog numbers and the weird 'final' reveal), and thinking maybe something shantae related got postponed, we were wondering if that would be put for the nintendo direct, so it's actually a loose connection that the blog post meant anything, in the end..

Also the day the direct was supposed to air, Shantae on the switch got a sudden special price drop for whatever reason, even though nothing was shown of shantae, and we never touched back on that, but maybe it's also part of why it looked like there were connections at first.

So, all in all, it's just all out of place but interesting tidbits that raise eyebrows

It's wild that the game isn't even out and yet people are insistent that we'll get the new FE character for literally no other reason than because they're from FE. If we're getting a new character from a recent game give us Octolings, Splatoon is literally three times as popular as FE is any day.

To be fair, Fates was yet to be relased worldwide when Corrin was added in 4. Fair enough not to expect her in the base roster but who’s to say she can’t be DLC? I just like the potential of her being a power-based female character using axes and magic

Well, I just mean that as soon as I saw her, I knew people were gonna latch onto her. I'm not trying to be derogatory towards the character. I just think it's crazy that people are crazy for a character that we know nothing about other than her appearance. And unlike Shantae, her game isn't out for us to judge her personality.
