Maybe it's because I have a crafty mind, but the first thing I thought to look for was an inconsistency in the background. I didn't look very hard myself, but later on people found exactly that and the dude who made the thing commented on how that wasn't feasible for him to fix.

I haven't played any of her games, but honestly any Indie character in Smash would make me so happy. Even an assist trophy, if a playable character is too much to ask for, would be a HUGE step for the Indie market.

As much as I would be excited for this to happen (I could just feel drafts of it surging as I browsed the article), this barely means anything more than wishful speculah for Shantae's supporters.

All these tweets amounted to was a retweet of an existing image early in the campaign and a gracious comment about an eShop promo. None of this provides any concrete evidence for Shantae's inclusion in Smash 4. This isn't even leak material.

I'm rather disappointed that this warranted front page news.

This. Shantae would be GREAT, and let me tell you, she's my third most wanted character in Smash 4, but this isn't much of a big deal.

Matt makes jokes all the time, and this could have just been a silly remark, but just because he says "See you in Smash!" doesn't mean Shantae will just magically pop in the Battlefield. Did Ubisoft come out and say "HEY GUYS, RAYMAN IS JOINING SMASH!" ever? No. Even if they did, I highly doubt Rayman would get in then because why spoil something two months before it gets confirmed?
I honestly don't think this really is too notable for a whole news page, even though it gets you pumped up at first.

Shantae is not as widespread as other possible options, such as Golden Sun. I would rather see a Golden Sun representative in it before seeing her. Eoleo for a brute pirate-like fighter or Mathew/Isaac for the staple main character business. Maybe Felix. But then I thought about Shantae as a character and a fighter

As for Shantae, you gotta admit... She is unique as a female character. Most action chicks come off as super serious to match their toughness. There's the fun perky little attacking girl too, but she's always a complainer or doesn't take things seriously enough. It's a plus that she's dressed *that way* but doesn't come off as sexual. Shantae is a happy medium of most stereotypical female character. Like, imagine Peach meets Samus. Bam, you'd have Shantae's personality. The best part about Shantae is she'd have a wide array of moves. She'd have hair combat, which would be way more unique than punchy mcpuncherson or kungfu kickington. She also has access to magic. So she could have a tether grab with her hair, tether grab the stage, transformation magic for smash attacks (quick change, smash, revert), and the miscellaneous magic for her specials. Her smash special could be transformation too. So thanks to all those possibilities, I'd be voting for Shantae to get in over the other options.

I definitely wouldn't take this too seriously. Shantae is pretty obscure, and I don't think she's received nearly as many votes as certain Nintendo characters. Including her in Smash would be a good way for Nintendo to show their support of Indie games, but I feel like Shovel Knight would be the more likely candidate if that was the case. Of course, given how hard the Shantae developers have pushed for her, it's not entirely out of the question.

Each with their own, I suppose. I'm a Robin main. and I'd have to disagree about the 'limited weapon' complain. Most of my kills comes from a well thrown book, even if I agree it can look a bit intimidating for anyone who hasn't really played with the character to try to learn how to manage Robin's weapons in the middle of a match. Wish he'd been a bit less slow or at least had a better grab, tho.
not even sure why Robin was brought up here, anyway. The characters are so different you can't even begin to compare the two.

Either way, I agree about the bit that Shantae would be a interesting character, even if I hasn't played any of her games.
On topic, though, I don't believe it will be happening any time soon, at least, and the tweet was just it: A jokingly expression, mostly. And knowing how conservative Sakurai and Nintendo in general are about this matter...

As for the bit about this kind of stuff getting front page; I don't particulary care. It's still interesting to create discussion about the matter and more people can get to know about the character and their game, too, so it's ok, imo.
At the end of the day, if they didn't post anything in the news section for too long, people would complain that they aren't posting anything and it's getting stale, most likely even if there's no news at all to post.
Still sucks to be a fan of the character and get all excited just to find out it's nothing worthwhile at all, though.
If the redator is posting something that's more speculation and hypothetical, he should at least have a warning in the title, or a tag, in my opnion.
