Fwiw you're incorrect, perhaps not about my problem of reading too far into things, but about that being what I'm doing here. Also, what else did you expect to get from their interaction? Zalak got what he wanted (and told me as much) before I jumped in, and pretty clearly stated that he was just trying to get reactions. I felt that the interaction was basically concluded.

I'm not being fickle by the way, I'm making the point that by soft-defending me and asking Zalak for my motivations, you're speaking for me and doing exactly to my interaction with Zalak that you're accusing me of doing to Zalak and Jay's interaction.

Day phases are going to move at a nice brisk pace and I don't think we can afford to waste multiple days letting a conversation between only two people drag on. I stepped in as soon as I was happy with Zalak and Jay's exchange, and no sooner.

My problem is I can think of only one reason you would jump in as a townie, and it seems unlikely. If you favor breadth over depth, then I suppose it makes sense for you to begin questioning me, but it doesn't seem characteristic for someone of your skill level to be prematurely ending a push on someone. If we were locked in an argument for pages, going around in circles, ignoring everyone else, then I could agree with what you did, but the Jay discussion had JUST STARTED. That mafia icon tells me you're not a rookie, so that doesn't seem like a likely scenario to me.

Now I'll briefly describe my PRIMARY mafia!Kantrip theories.

1. You were trying to keep up appearances. This is always the first thing that pops into my head when people do things that seem counter-productive to me. You don't want people to think you're hiding in the shadows, so you make a post questioning me. You want people to think you intend to move the game forward.

2. You could have been diverting attention away from yourself, or anyone involved in the Jay discussion.

Jay and I were not the only ones involved in that discussion though, but I suppose questioning me doesn't directly stop them from continuing their part in the discussion. Still, it moves the spotlight away from them.

Lastly, I'm not saying I read you as mafia or anything. I'm just trying to describe how your posts seemed off to me.

Explanation:

When you said Jay's post seemed fabricated, it was pretty obvious to me that you weren't serious and you were just trying to stir up some conversation and get a reaction from him. If you were serious about it seeming like Jay was fabricating his posts, I figured you would probably be voting him rather than your RVS vote on me. So by asking if it was a serious accusation or if you were just trying to stir up conversation, I wasn't looking for the answer so much as I was trying to do the same thing as you.

My motivation was not to read your alignment with my question and then get you lynched with my vote, but rather to start a line of conversation. If you had said your accusation was serious, I would have backed off and allowed you and Jay to interact further. But since you said you were just trying to create content, I decided to turn it around on you by accusing you of caring more about appearances than reading Jay. However, I feel that you've actually been quite consistent and don't have a problem with the way you responded to me. I wish you had responded that your accusation was serious, but I understand why you chose to answer me honestly instead and I can't fault you for it.

tl;dr - I was doing the same thing with my vote that you were doing by accusing Jay of fabricating his posts

I might be overestimating other players' ability to read your intentions, but it was really obvious that your push wasn't serious to me, so I figured that when Jay responded to it and you admitted you were "just trying to get people to talk" (prior to my questioning of you) that it would be alright to jump in at that point.

If I had thought there was any chance of getting meaningful responses from Jay or others after that point I wouldn't have done so.

Your mafia theories are alright, although the first would be an awfully unnecessary way for me to keep up appearances, and the second would imply that Jay is my scum partner since I had no reason to divert attention from myself at that point.

Probably not, and I think that's why I so often get flak in the early game. When questioned about what I'm doing, I often continue the charade and lie so that I can keep doing what I want to do. I can't fault you for playing that differently.

Then I'm a hypocrite. Is it something you deem as scummy? No? Yes? That's what matters here. I don't need to have banter with you unless you're going to make something out of it. I already stated my read on you and thus far I haven't find much reason to change it. I wanted Jay and Zalak to continue their interaction because it could've led to something interesting, but that's in the past.

I've been thinking that mostly everyone that has been posting has been remotely townie even if there are some people I want to keep an eye on (You). Unfamiliar with the player slot, trying to get context to his interactions and his post history isn't exactly illuminating.

I might be misunderstanding you here but if his posts aren't good why do you have him as town?

I'd like to believe that any scum, including Kantrip, realize the risk of reeling a player such as Zalak in the fashion that he did. It seemed like a push gone wrong, and perhaps one he didn't necessarily have to make. Basically, I appreciate his bravado but not necessarily his actions; do you think he's just playing for appearances however? I'll say one thing to somewhat answer @JayTheUnseen too and it's that look at Kary's posts so far and tell me if anything has been worthwhile so far. The whole interaction with Rake he had was particularly unsettling.
