Dope isn't being punished for not having a teammate. He still wins prizes based on his teams performance. The only real flaw in your idea, to me, is why shouldn't the bonus at the end of a season for a team competition go to the best team?

Suppose that, at the end of the season, two of the top teams were Dope and Darkrain and Dope and Vidjo (obviously this is not the case). Would you give Dope 2 prizes?

Rick, that's actually a really good suggestion, and I had to put some thought into it. The reason we run things as we do is because we wanted to reward teams for their team accomplishments, not individuals for their team accomplishments. Dope has done well individually in teams, having won twice. But he hasn't been part of a team that has done well more than once.
Also, at the end of the season, we'd be paying the top 3 individuals who did well in teams, not the top 3 teams.
So while I like the idea of getting more points for teaming consistently with someone, I feel like it still turns the teams aspect of the circuit into individual team performance. That's how MLG runs things, and I frankly don't care for that. Maybe it's just a matter of opinion, but I believe that teams should be viewed as a unit.

is it possible for me to still get first?
It would be almost impossible to get 1st anyway if you never win a teams event. If you'd have gotten first in the last two tournaments, you would be in the lead. Even if you'd gotten one first, you'd be in striking distance. As it stands, Iggy and Tink would have to not make brackets and you guys win first.

You know what I think is lame: The fact that someone decided that they were going to SLEEP FOR 18 HOURS instead of going to a tourny and winning teams, thereby aiding in this idea of 1st place that you believe has eluded you.

Really, it comes down to the fact that we want to reward a team, not an individual. That may just be a matter of opinion, but that's what we decided we wanted to reward. Individuals already get rewarded from the Singles points, so why reward someone for individual performance in teams?
And ultimately, the rules have been in place since August, and both D-rephen and Dope knew full well how it worked. So no sympathy points to anyone, rawr!

You mean in singles? Yes, but the 3 guys above you would have to place poorly at the Champs.

First place is worth 68 points, 8th place is worth 8. Anyone in the top 5 can win at this point.
I'm in 6th with 37 points. 37 + 68 = 105 points, and Tink's 99 + 8 = 107 points. In other words, assuming Tink makes it in the final 8, I can't get first place even if I win the whole thing and he gets last in the Final RR. Therefore, only the top 5 can win the first place points prize.
For fun, let's analyze what it would take for Prime to win. If Prime were to win, he'd have 57 + 68 = 125 pts. Tink would still win if he got at least 3rd place (99 + 30 = 129 pts). However, Dope isn't far behind Tink, and if Dope gets second then he'll have 127 pts, also beating Prime. And don't forget Darkrain - if he gets 2nd and Prime gets first, they'll both have 125 points and would tie, though they'd lose to Tink in 3rd.
But forget Prime. If Dope wins, he'll have 151 pts. If Darkrain wins, he'll have 148 pts. Tink in second would only have 144 pts. Therefore, anyone in the top 3 can win the entire season simply by winning this event. Talk about pressure!
And then D-rephen, at 64 pts. A win for him means 132 pts. He needs Tink to get at least third (129 pts) in order to win. However, anyone else taking second would still fall short of stealing the points victory from him.
As for 2nd and 3rd places, it's up for grabs at this point. There's only a 20 point difference between 6th place (myself) and 16th place (Jiano). If anyone of those people make it to the final RR, anything could happen.
