In the last place you look
I just got a great idea to spice things up a bit. You know how at the end of a game of mario party they award special bonuses so usually the person who won ends up not winning? I think it'd be fun to do that with circuit rankings. We could award bonuses points for the winners in different catagories. Some possible ideas would be:

Unluckiest brackets
Most money spent attending circuit events
Most consecutive fox uairs
Best mustache
Most times knocking tink out of bracket

just to name a few. Who else thinks this is a great idea?

something must be changed with the points imo. if forward can go to the final event and place first and get 5th overall in points, that shouldnt happen.

What's wrong with them? Did Forward get some sort of bonus for winning the championships?

If it is the same number throughout all the tournaments, I wouldn't see what the problem is, but someone just kind of popping up and getting first in one event and getting 5th.... that does seem slightly off kilter. I could name 5 players that did well in the circuit consistently off the top of my head that were at almost every event, how could Forward pass them ALL up?

50% extra points at the championships. First is normally worth 45, he got 68, one point behind drephens 69.

Hmmm... that is slightly screwy, but at the same time horribly legit.

Why 50% extra at the championships? That's kind of like in mario party (two references to that game in this thread) where during the last 10 turns all the spaces are suddenly worth double. It makes the prior turns seem kind of pointless, unless you totally destroyed.

who cares. the seasons over. for season 2 unless he plans on showing up, take him out of the points thingy for seeding for the first event.

well, seeing is how drephen went to almost all the events, and forward only went to 1 and almost managed to get above him is crazy.

Drephen went to 4 events and only placed at 3 of them. Drephen slept during FRI2, which would have been easy to gain points at, and Drephen also didn't place at the championship so no 50% point bonus to him.

And winning an event makes significantly more points than getting a bunch of lower placings, as the same for all circuit events.

And whats a championship if it isn't worth more.

Drephen never won an event, either. I personally think that winning the Championship, especially in a final-8 Round Robin, is worth that much.

Don't forget that NO ONE won an event twice. Winning the Championship is equivalent to winning 1.5 events. If anyone had won 2 events, Forward wouldn't have stood a chance at catching up. In fact, winning one event and getting high placements at one or two events would be enough to keep a lead.

I'm up for having a debate about points, but I really think it's a good system. We can't help it if Midwest players are so back-and-forth that they keep each other from gaining too much ground. If anything, that's a good thing for competition's sake.

Oh, and Season 2 is going to be a longer season, so odds are that someone will win two events this time around.

EDIT: Just to clarify, Season 1 points will be used for seeding at the FIRST event of Season 2. After that they'll only be used for tie-breakers. Season 2 points will NOT add to Season 1 points.

He's got a point. I didn't really pay attention to how many actual wins others had, I just saw a bunch of people going to a bunch of tournaments, and one guy going to one.

The 50% bonus does seem like much though. Especially since we WANT the Midwest players to be going back and forth in wins. That means that we don't have that one powerhouse that wins everything all the time.

Just remember that he still didn't make it into the bonus money. That's what matters...

If it offends you all that much you could just say you have to attend at least two events to be eligible for bonus money.

you should have to live in the MW to be eligable for bonus $ i think. no one else has a circuit, so no one else should be able to get the bonus. thats what i think =)

Dude, 24th. I'm too good. If I had to make a prediction, it would be that I'm going to RAWK the hizzle next circuit. I'm thinking around 15th. Or 1st. I haven't decided how hard I want to RAWK yet. [/faux arrogance]
