It's not really an update. Unless you're developing SD Remix or want to make changes yourself, there's nothing different about it and it should be disregarded.
So it isn't an update, but it might be the source of future updates, then.

Maybe Link can keep his shield on his arm when he swings, that way he might be looking for a shield bash. Two different hitboxes, the sword slash on one and a meaty smack with the edge of the shield on the other.

Is that really possible at this point in the Melee hacking timeline?

For that matter, if you're going to implement it as a Nair or something, could you add sword lines to the Master Sword like on all of Link's other normals, or is that also impossible?

Unsure about whether or you could apply the Model Mod for "Hylian Shield on/off" on any command you please, but...

you definitely are able to add sword line effects to his Master Sword even on moves that normally don't have it (of course, if the sword isn't out, you wouldn't notice).

Wouldnt the issue be that link holds his sword in his left hand and that animation is a right handed attack.
He slashes with both the Master Sword and the item, so it could still work provided that they make certain adjustments like the shield on the right hand.

I already asked that question for Fox specifically, and they said that unlike with PM (which did slightly nerf Melee's top tiers) they want to keep this patch close to the competitive Melee as possible, which means that they won't nerf the top 6 at all.

Apparently, though, Ripple is planning a project with more differences than SDR using SDR as a basis (though I don't think it will go far until Melee's animation is decoded).

geez coming from someone with a falco icon... for the last time do NOT F WITH THE TOP TIER.

people please stop saying this, it will ruin that game if we mess with top tiers and vmelee players will take this even less seriously then they do now- they want their top tiers left alone the way they are because they feel they're so perfect- respect this. If your char sucked before then enjoy the changes made. Who gives a damn about 20XX- SDR makes gives the rest of us players a fun fighting chance against good top tier players.


should the devs mess with top tier only makes something like 20XX even MORE a reality... cause players won't take this mod seriously

In regards to avoiding 20XX they already did that when they let me use the Pichu in this game. Only chars he can't fight and feasibly win against are range disjoint and maybs floaties but I'm not sure. I'll just need a secondary for swordies and gross range people (ewww disjoints etc.) and I'll be set to go.

You already based a lot of hitbox edits on Brawl, why not bring in something from Smash 4 for once?

Yo IDK if they wanna awaken that monster of a move in a game like this, although shieldstun is actually fair in this game so IDK. Still as a Doc player that would almost be WAY too good to be true....

But I wouldn't mind if they felt like giving me that kind of power.

we based hitbox changes on brawl because the angles were much better for linking on multihit moves. doc's SJP link's just fine in melee

Yeah, but you also added some completely new Brawl-based hitboxes like on Bowser's Ground Pound and Zelda's Teleport. And that's not getting into the (almost) completely new moves/animations that have been already done.

To be fair, Zelda's Teleport fire hitbox was always in Melee. Due to some programming quirks/bug(?), it just never activated. It's true!

I have no knowledge of Smash 4 nor do I have access to either copy of the game, so I'm afraid I can't comment on that game's UpB being in SDR at this time.

Noob question here. Can I take the characters from SDR and shove them into my personal build or are there changes to the dol needed in order for them to function as intended?

So... about Doc's Smash 4 SJP.

Will you do it? I really REALLY want it considering Mario has pretty much made Doc redundant in SDR.

k so last night I played SDR 3.1 with a close smash buddy. he was warmer about it then other smashers.

I finding that browser has to be worked on a bit, unrelated yet when he uses items they lag a bit. also, well now because mewtwo is good he's become a crazy good counterpick to fox/falco. my buddy I teching hard and while I was trying, I like... didn't have to have as much tech skill to nearly match him in the game. alienating to fox/falco players.

feelings of mewtwo being OP/hitboxes (with other characters too) being crazy disjoined are there.

LOVED young link though. felt you captured the spirit of young link perfectly.
