There was probably something much scarier, but one that sticks out in mind was when I pelted a Cucco with a Slingshot and all the other Cuccos came chasing after me.

That was, of course, before I knew that Cuccos attack you. I jumped out of my seat when they started chasing me.

Looking for our princess in another castle.
In Megaman Legends, you can go into the ruins network of Kattleox Island and explore it. In the ruins, there is a large room with a wall going through the middle, so it basically is a large square hallway loop. Now note, there is no music in the basic ruins, just spooky ambient noise. I'm walking through this hallway, and BAM! A giant reaverbot (The Hanmuru-Doll) attacks me out of nowhere. I'll see if I can find a video of it...

Well some people might say RE games aren't very scary but I personally have to say I will never grow out formthose games (I love the movies though). Let me tell you something that my brohers used to do to me. they would force me watch them play RE1 on the playstation, y'know when I was like 7. If I refused, they would tie me uup to this chair. If I fell asleep they would keep waking me up. That's how traumatic it was. You know that eerie sound the ps made whenever you turn it on, (y'know the ps logo and the other thing) well that sound scares the *** out of me whenever i hear it really. I just have to turn off the tv. And in 2000's -so movies, they also had one very similar, I really don't remember what it was, but it was like some kind of sound system for the dvd or something (THl or sumthing). Same thing happes I just HAVE to turn off the TV. Any increasing sound scares the *** out of me. Funny thing is, my favorite movies are zombie and the like based movies (RE, Silent hill, etc.) which are based off of games...

woot long post...

edit: ohhh FEAR was really scary too (*crosses fingers for movie* lol)

The scene is late at night, in the basement of my old-old house, and I am probably 10 years young. I'm playing Banjo Kazooie for the N64, and I'm pestering the mole character. You could talk to this character over and over again, and he would get more and more frustrated as you continued to hit A and talk to him.

A: Stop that.
A: I'm serious.
A: Why won't you stop?
A: Don't you have anything better to do?
A: I'm warning you, one more...

Well, after that... I hit A one more time.

The mole character said something along the lines of, "thats it, I've had it with you, kid. I warned you, and now I'm going to erase all the data on your memory card."

My life flashed before my eyes. My Ocarina of Time files... my Goldeneye data... my Jet Force Gemini completions... all gone?! NO! I WON'T LET YOU DO THIS, YOU EVIL MOLE MANIAC!

I cried, jumped out of my beanbag chair, and ripped the game out of the N64. I freaked out SO HARD.

After letting the situation sink in, I realized that if it had been a joke, I might have corrupted all my data by taking the active game cartridge out of the N64. I go so ****ING mad at that **** mole, I swear I wanted to kill Rare. I was so ****ing scared.

It was my big brother's memory pack, and he would have flipped a ****. I finally mustered up the courage to check the game and see that everything was still there, but to this day, I don't fux with simulated annoyed interaction.

Personally?

The only time I was ever freaked out in a video game was when I opened that door in SkyTown on Metroid Prime 3, and the Space Pirate corpse slumped against it on the other side disintegrated.

The unexpected moment, combined with the sound effect, made me jump.
