I agree, so damn ridicules you would permanently ban him. I would understand if you had just given him a temp ban./new morderator please. kthanks
It's written in the rules that posting porn in a permanent ban and is up to an admin's discretion as to wether it should be changed. He posted porn and was rude and aggressive to the admin who was handling it (and before you say it was me, it wasn't) so it was kept permanent.I agree, so damn ridicules you would permanently ban him. I would understand if you had just given him a temp ban.
How funny would it be if all of the SA players posted from proxies, lol.
If you want to get banned, sure. If you're serious about wanting him back, post a thread each in Forum Support. You know we should Protest for Nova's sake.
No. The Perth scene was already dying/dead (hadn't had a fest/meet since November) and a few Perthites figured that since it was dead they'd have some fun wrecking the thread.mods killed the perth thread/scene.
Unless he says its him theres no way to know. Im not gonna ingore possible new people.a word of advice to the adelaide smash scene, and anyone else for that matter -- if you continue to respond to nova's posts, threads will be locked, or accounts will be infracted. i'd recommend completely ignoring any future alternate accounts and if you need to speak to him, use another means.
Its already been proven to me that mods here have double standards.I made a post about getting told off for censor dodging and then seeing the Mod that gave me the warning do the exact same thing seems to have been deleted. Abuse of power much?
Exactly. From what I heard it was just a pic of some ******s that most guys (and some girls) probly liked very much and I doubt anyone was offended apart from 1 mod with something up his/her ***.Well I thought porn is supposed to be images of people encouraging sexual things. I can't really explain my point but common it was just a silly nude picture. I've seen people leave death threats on the boards and they'd only be left with a small ban. Look I'm sure nova gets the point now, just please unban him. Our community is starting to lose people as it is, don't take away more people.. especially committed ones like nova.
No. Maybe you're unaware that I was involved, and therefore think I'm not privvy to the truth! No. The Perth scene was already dying/dead (hadn't had a fest/meet since November) and a few Perthites figured that since it was dead they'd have some fun wrecking the thread.
That's cool, Scoot. But there's still this: http://www.smashboards.com/announcement.php?f=252&a=276No. Maybe you're unaware that I was involved, and therefore think I'm not privvy to the truth!
A states thread isn't the same as their scene. Your scene is weak right now, but it's thread isn't. The Perth thread isn't just a place to organise meets and tournaments, it's where people from Perth (and people who know people from Perth) go and have social chats, including the ever so famous "you come here to post that" meme, which is just that for Perth really, a meme, a joke and apart of Perth. Denying them their fun is basically oppression. Most of it was one big joke that you/Vlade/Cao couldn't take. The Thread got locked not because of the initial chatter, I know, it got locked because of what was essentially protest to the chokehold the mods have over anything fun and non-smash related.
This is a social, gaming website, that is in no *real* way an organisation or formal website. This holds true especially for the Australian section, and many other sub-sections that are not USA.
When it comes down to it, Smash, whether it be Melee or Brawl, or just the lifestyle that comes along with being involved isn't some formal obligation, it's recreational and that alone should speak 1000 words.
My point was that the rules prevent certain types of harmless fun. That's cool, Scoot. But there's still this: http://www.smashboards.com/announcement.php?f=252&a=276
You can still have fun without disregard for the rules.
Im sure that they had execution for a good reason too.Hey, I can agree with that too. Pity I didn't write the rules for this place. But I'm sure they are there for a good reason.

Now, Mic, you were the first admin to respond, which was pretty much a response of "Blah blah we don't care, you broke the rules so you're banned forever ".Nova said:I believe this infraction/ban was beyond harsh...

Basically, some user came in one of the Zelda topics and started blabbering on about how all characters in the game were even (even MK, to like Zelda, he claims they were even).
So, I (foolishly, yes, I'll admit) posted a pic of a woman's breasts which were obviously uneven (to compare how even Zelda and MK are in terms of the tier list), I had an idea I would get deleted, but I just wanted the said user to get the point.
Now, while I'm aware that posting pictures such as this ARE majorly looked down on, and I'm also aware that I'm not supposed to use other peoples infractions to justify my own, but I have FLAT OUT seen someone post a woman walking down the beach, topless, and assumed that "topless" does NOT and should not mean "Pornographic", as it seems totally ridiculous as I would never post porn, the image I posted was edgy, and I'll be fine if I just get banned for 3 months or something for it (fair enough, lesson learned), but being banned FOREVER over something that isn't that offensive that I know I've seen posted before (hence me posting it, which as I'm aware is against the rules, but I didn't realise that you will be selectively banned forever depending on which mod/admin deals with the complaint (which I obviously would guess it made by the troll I directed it at).
I don't know what else to say, I just don't feel I should be permanently banned for something that "really" isn't that offensive, as I've seen far worse "TEXT" based insults on here, like people saying they want to kill people, how on earth that isn't worth a permanent ban yet a pair of breasts which is NOT meant to be in a sexual way which can clearly be seen just by looking at the pic), (I'm not saying I didn't deserve to get banned, I'm saying I didn't deserve to get banned FOREVER). Not to mention the fact that I haven't even had a permanent point before, and all of a sudden I get lumped with 6 that never expire...
As I said, if I were banned for like a month, or even 3 months, I wouldn't matter, as I CERTAINLY would never post something like that again, but a permanent ban over a non sexually explicit/pornographic pair of breasts is, in my opinion, a very hasty thing to get banned for.
I also know that you probably get annoyed when people say "well other people have done this and that" on this forum, but the fact of the matter is I did see someone post a picture of a woman on a beach topless once, and they even posted after it that they got a 3 point infraction, as opposed to my 6 point infraction that never expires; you'd swear I posted flat out porn or child pornography with a punishment like that.
I already told a couple of people not to use proxies or make other accounts zzz.If you want to get banned, sure. If you're serious about wanting him back, post a thread each in Forum Support.
I agree.Sigh.
Why did you have to give me such a rational response given the massive wall of textual insults and drama that I threw at you.
I apologise for that.
I don't have any problems with anyone on here IRL but this is understandably bothering a few people.
I understand that MY posts have been quite on the edge before, but, I actually had a period (before that Perth nonsense in which like 12 people were banned) where I hadn't received an infraction for like 3 months (I can't remember, but there was a longish period where I didn't have any).
The only other infraction which I got AFTER that was the one that lead to a permanent ban.
If the points on the Nova account had an expiry, as I've said, I wouldn't be making alts in the first place.
I feel as if any attempt to say "you may be unbanned in the future if you stop posting with alts" is probably not going to eventuate because nothing is set in stone.
Thus, I assume the ban will never be lifted and I've never been told otherwise and I've been told it's only a possibility from you, where some admins have authority over it. *Shrugs*
It's also written in the rules that you can't talk about alcohol.
And you need to look up the definition of "porn" because what I posted doesn't qualify
pornography: creative activity (writing or pictures or films etc.) of no literary or artistic value other than to stimulate sexual desire
So kindly explain how a picture that came from a medical website of someone's uneven breasts qualifies as sexual stimulation to most people?
So, no, I didn't post porn, kthx.
Partial nudity and flaming at the user I directed it at, yes; porn, no.
What?
The?
Hell?
Are?
You?
Talking?
About?
The ADMIN that handled it was Bionic (i.e. banned me) - I NEVER even brought his name up, anywhere, until now.
After I received that infraction I went straight to forum support; so would you mind not flat out lying?
After the moderation I posted this on forum support:
Now, Mic, you were the first admin to respond, which was pretty much a response of "Blah blah we don't care, you broke the rules so you're banned forever ".
Then some other twit posted this:
Going against our terms of service allows us to report you to your ISP. Nearly all ISPs charge a fine for reports as it is against their terms of service.
Did I respond to that like a smart ***?
Yes, I did.
Why?
Because I work for the ISP you'd be "reporting" me to and I know full well what the abuse guidelines are and nothing of what I posted would ever result in my ISP ever taking such complaints seriously.
And I've never heard of any ISP "fining" someone; so of course I responded to such a ridiculous post rather harshly.
But I never spoke to Bionic about the moderation, or abuse him.
I already told a couple of people not to use proxies or make other accounts zzz.
Not my fault if they do.
So take a chill pill and don't say I insulted people that I didn't.
maybe this would have been a better display of the difference between mk and zeldaWe were shown pictures of guys with elephantitis on their ****s.
I said ''porn" because it was easier than typing "Pornographic material, nudity or other explicit images" as specified in the global rules. The key word being nudity. And you need to look up the definition of "porn" because what I posted doesn't qualify
pornography: creative activity (writing or pictures or films etc.) of no literary or artistic value other than to stimulate sexual desire
I was referring to the one who you were talking with in Forum Support. The ADMIN that handled it was Bionic (i.e. banned me) - I NEVER even brought his name up, anywhere, until now.
