Maybe if it's a newcomer like a new Pokemon Trainer, or Mewtwo(technically) he'll want to update in the middle of the day instead of this early so it explodes faster and hype and attention and blablabla.

I don't know. We had 39 in Brawl. We already have 3 reveals. So we are at 42 if everyone returns. That wouldn't leave much extra room for any of the high demand characters like Palutena, Little Mac, Mewtwo, or Ridley. I honestly think that we might get capped at 50.

The Pokemon reveal is being saved for the release of Pokemon Bank, obviously.

Coincidentally, it is during Christmas Day.

Sakurai follows the same pattern for every game; he just doesn't do that with the promotions and whatnot.

Sakurai clearly did this because we were expecting something; now he knows the Dojo and Miiverse update watchers are not expecting much, so he will thus try to surprise all of this crowd with another confirmation.

Honestly, I think this raises the likelihood that Mewtwo gets revealed next. This is just the kind of hype anti-hype hype that is vintage Sakurai.

Can I ask why anyone thinks in particular it will be more? I haven't been following the articles closely but the ones i've seen have been about him having a difficult time deciding who should stay, who should go, and who'll be welcomed into the fold. Also it already seems as though sales and recent releases are playing a role as overall series strength. A huge roster does not make a fun thing to balance and works best for a team game. Granted smash has always been something else.

On a scale of
Cluster**** aka 0 [DragonBall/Naruto/Tales of VS (no offense)] to Fighter aka 20 [Street Fighter/Tekken] i'd say it's close to about 14. Typically the fighting games with the larger rosters tend to run closer to WTF whatever ickybangbanggoobersplat buy the dlc

Sakurai didn't do anything but go about his usual business.

I wouldn't count out a pokemon reveal yet. However, given today's picture, its possible we won't. All things point to a possible reveal later despite a lack of a Direct. As well, while its not confirmed, I honestly believe Sakurai revealed Toon Link a while back because Nintendo told him too. It just seems crazy not to show a Pokemon rep the day before a ground-breaking Pokemon installment. You would think Nintendo would be all over about advertising X/Y via Smash.

Sakurai has proven himself to be unpredictable this time around. We think we can find a pattern in how he does things or the characters he picks.

Anyways, I'm hoping Sakurai the PokeFairy leaves me some Mewtwo reveals tonight under my pillow but I'm not holding my breath.

Woah, this has got to be the grandest scale of disappointment in SSB history.

Lucky I leveled my hype down a few notches last night when I came to realise that today ISN'T Pokemon X/Y reveal.
Still a bit disappointed, but today's pic at least kinda made me laugh.

We'll have to see if it's monday.. But what if we've truly been spoiled and we shouldn't expect anything then as well?
