I hate the idea of Medusa, I see her as a character from Greek mythology not a Nintendo character even if it is their interpretation of the character.

Which is unfortunate because she's an awesome villain. But at least Hades was the best villain in all of Uprising. Orcos or whatever the name of the villain in the GB game was called wasn't that memorable.

So since we're really close, I'm gonna do a what-if. Let's say Masked Man is added (because in most discussions we just discuss probabilities) Starter or unlock-able? Would Ness go back to being a starter? How would you particularly feel? Etc.

I'd make Masked Man an unlockable, same as Ness, and make Lucas a starter again. I'm one of those adamant hopefuls for MM's inclusion, so I'm staying vigilant!

Also, Little Mac isn't retro anymore folks, for all the people posting him in their list of 4.

Seeing that Masked Man is a walking spoiler, he has to be an unlockable. I'd rather have Ness as a starter, and make Lucas an unlockable as well.

Sheik is also a walking spoiler, yet she was in Melee, which was released a few years after Ocarina of Time.

Like Porky being a boss in Subspace, or New Pork City which are honestly HUGE spoilers. Oh and Ragnell.

Edit: And I'd honestly argue that MM is less of a walking spoiler than a particular Female FE lord.

And to some people he might just seem like Darth Vader,since it's not like he carries a neon sign over his head that says CLAUS!

Now, I wasn't saying that being a spoiler hinders his chances. I just said that since he is a spoiler, being an unlockable suits him better.

I think the only thing and the thing above all that hinders his chances the most is the overpopulation rule. Granted, I don't think it'll be that big this time around, but it might take a heavy hit from stopping us from seeing a few characters on the roster.

Yeah, although I'm still hoping at least a couple niche characters like Masked Man (Compared to the popular say...7, I'd say he qualifies as niche) make it in. Definitely cater to the popular characters first though. The sensible ones...

On the topic of retro characters, I'm not sure what Sakurai could possibly yank from his hat this time around. G&W and ROB, as crazy as they seemed, were based on things that impacted Nintendo and are a big part of its history. And they had really interesting movesets. I can't think of anyone that could live up to the other two on either terms. I have a difficult time imagining an interesting moveset for Muddy Mole, Lip, or Balloon Fighter.
