I would actually not mind this. As long as Marth and Ike return, I'm content with Fire Emblem.

However, there is the possibility that we get Mii in late October to correspond with Wii Party U or Wii Sports U.

Well not literally. But she is the closest character to a series mascot, similar to Moogle/Chocobo's recurrences in Final Fantasy, Slime in DQ, and Jack Frost in SMT.

The funny thing is that if Roy returns people are going to act like he was the most obvious choice all along and will forget the "durr hurr he cant return cuz heez not relvunt and clone duh".

I could still say I can't get all hopeful on Rid and especially Toad even if TL seems to be proven otherwise in his appearance.
I believe Ridley has bit more chance (since hmm clone-clone-cloned) but Toad I can't yet see unless he becomes Blue Toad. I dunno but I think that Toad's more in the plank of de-confirmed due still staying as Peach's B-move.

I mean, in Melee we had a Toad running on the background in the Yoshi Team-section in Mushroom Kingdom (and I think another). I personally believe Sakurai hasn't still changed his mind on not really seeing fighting potential on Toad and relocates him as the usual cowardly background prop or Peach's special (because he's basically the bodyguard)

Ridley I think we can be hopeful but I dunno about Toad. 3D World's release might be the final answer on the coffin, but that again could be affected by yet another WTF-appearance of Mario-newcomer (or veteran, maybe Doc due Brawl?) or we see Bowser Jr. appearing in 3D World.

I think Fire Emblem Awakening divided the FE fanbase. There are people who absolutely love the game and people that constantly bash it, with fewer people on a middle ground.

It could be that the more "extreme" sides of the question might be the more vocal ones, though...

If Wonder Red was going to be in, Sakurai would have showed him in August or September to save his game from bombing.

Marth is the most iconic character, but is the same as his other lord brethren. 2 appearances (being the first he also 2 remakes) and an Awakening DLC appearance as his spirit card (his DLC was free). Which puts him at the same level as Ike, Leif, and Seliph (and Roy, Eliwood, and Hector if you want to get technical).

Marth is more akin to Cloud in Final Fantasy. He's the most recognizable character, but neither character get the mascot distinction on that alone.

The different between Anna and Patty is Anna has appeared as a fighting unit. Twice. Similar to Mog the Moogle in FF6.

See I play as Link, and not that im against clones or anything, they just have problems. In Brawl, TL was always the better choice because he was better for survival. It made Link sort of pointless to play because he died so easily.

What im trying to say is, if you have a clone of a character who is VERY similar, like TL, one is going to be better than the other.

Take SF for example. Ryu and Ken are very similar but they manage to both be viable options. Imagine now, that Ken was slightly slower and less powerful. Would anyone want to play as Ken? Probably not. No one wants to be at a disadvantage like that coming out of the gate when they can pick a character who is the same, just stronger.

This is my problem with Link and TL. I know its early and TL might be different than Link in the game, but if its the same situation as on Brawl I will be upset. Link has been bad in all the games, but I still play as him despite all this. I just dont like the thought of being at a disadvantage because I picked a different version of the same character.

Anyone else share this viewpoint?

Well depends again- if the japanese release date for 3D World goes out from November (perhaps December?), then we could get two reveals in November. Or Sakurai breaks the mold AGAIN and makes 3 reveals in one month.

If this all the Mario characters (aside from Yoshi, who is his own series) then it's really only crowded with ALBW. Which isn't a problem, since two reveals can work. One to promote a game (Zelda) and one for the anniversary (Little Mac).

People should've realized that Sakurai likely visits (or at least contacts) most of the studios he takes content from, even if it's not playable content. Platinum is hardly a special case, they just decided to rile people up by revealing Sakurai had been there.

I might though think that ALBW might be skipped in means of getting a reveal perhaps if it's for to make way for Mac. or 3D World is pushed off to December by chance. Or 3 reveals. Or no Mac at all.

Yea I see what you're saying, Link has so far been somewhat bad in Smash I was hoping that this time around they would focus on making him better, rather than making a 2nd Link and making him better in almost every way.

A Link Between Worlds does not release until 2014 in Japan. Considering that Sakurai coincided the reveals of Olimar and Toon Link with the Japanese release dates for Pikmin 3 and Wind Waker HD, we may end up not even getting Zelda in November.

Still, we should still note that Mac's reveal seems quite heightened if the whole "Thursday Reveal"-thing is becoming some kind of a norm with release dates. I might be over-exaggarating but so far things kinda lean to this direction even if most have been by chance (though even if there's Peach who came out of nowhere but)
