Chrom fanboys seem to have nothing but snark to support their character it seems.
What part of "I'm not a Chrom Fanboy" do you not understand? Should I label you as a Roy fanboy because you want said character? Lighten up and LEARN TO TAKE A JOKE!

The one Fire Emblem character I think should be in is Hardin, but all people want are pretty boy swordsmen.
I want a Manakette...is that good enough?

If Diddy gets tail moves... Damn you BKupa, you know my weakness! Yes. That way I'd take Dixie as a Diddy clone. It just has to fit well, and not look cheap. And tail based moves would help Diddy to. Helicopter Spin could work in function as Diddy's Up B to, but be farrrr more floaty.

Ok, am convinced now. Clones are a good idea.

There are many characters requested now that wouldn't exactly be too unique from another already in. I wouldn't mind a few clones, if done right.

Dixie Kong - Diddy's clone with better recovery, less speed, weight and power and more floaty.
Chrom - Ike clone. Neutral B being a fuse of Ike's and Marth's Melee B.
Roy - Marth clone. Neutral B as in Melee, but has range on the full charged version.
Impa - Sheik clone with Barrier as Down B. Little more powerful, little slower, better recovery and range on kicks. Tall and light though. More of a Wolf / Lucas to Sheik. B is a charged up Magic Orb similar to the Needles, but stronger. Chain is the Whip from Skyward Sword.
Black Shadow - Captain Ganondorf a la Melee.
Toon Zelda - smaller, faster, weaker, floatier Zelda
Tetra - smaller Sheik that throws Daggers and uses the Grappling Hook as a Chain.
Paper Mario - Mario with the Hammer as Side B. Slower, stronger and lighter than Mario. Kinda plays as N64 Mario.

These are a couple I wouldn't mind if it meant more characters to be honest.

Can we just add no new Fire Emblem characters at all and save ourselves the headache of Chrom versus Roy? Frankly neither of them seem like they're an essential addition to Smash Bros.

And god damnit I better not hear someone suggest Lucina, Robin, Anna, Owain, etc. from Awakening.
You're especially evil if you say someone outside of Awakening altogether.
I'm honestly starting to consider it, at least it'd save us the headaches.

Or they can add Hector, he's fun.

You have to be a fool to say that considering Chrom has strong aestethic and ability similarities to Ike.

Wolf had more differing abilities than Fox (especially from Command) yet still ended up sharing his specials and Final Smash with Fox, despite another Fox clone already being in the game.

So you absolutely cannot say that the chance for Chrom to be a retread of Ike is negligible when there are aspects to the character's design (heck, even look at Chrom's concept art) that harken back to Ike.
When did I say it was negligible? Lol. I never said that EVER. I said I don't want/expect him to be. I acknowledge the possibility, but I do not wan't/expect it to happen.

To negate further discussion, because this is clearly getting nowhere, new topic.

...Any more ideas for my Youtube channel? ( I swear to ****ing god if somebody makes a snarky remark about Chrom v. Roy...)

Jeez, Habanero! I know you hate Chrom, I'm not a fan of him either. But, give the dude some credit.

EDIT: ANYBODY WITH BLUE FIRE IS A MUST HAVE FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Forgive me for the quick response, I felt like I had to get another word in before I went and ate a burrito and stuff. My impression of you was that you're always quite serious and hostile, and I'm not so sure of that any more. <3
Anyways, you're forgetting everything else she does and is, as well the simple fact of her reoccurrence and as the mascot of Fire Emblem should be boosts in her regard by themselves as well.
But I suppose if we go by the traditional definition of a 'major role' as being relegated to Lord only, then you're right, but in every other way she's got medals and pins and stars and badges of merit.
A tutorial icon who has only been playable through DLC because of small popularity doesn't really merit a playable character over the main character of one of the best selling and newest Fire Emblem games.

Dixie Kong has an oversized ponytail that can act as a third arm in battle. Providing for an unique fighter that is unlike any other on the roster.

Most people would say Dixie Kong differentiates herself aesthetically and ability wise than Chrom does.
Chrom has Lances and Bow & Arrows as well as blue fire.

Who wants to talk about Shulk. I don't think he's getting in because he's a 2nd party who doesn't play a HUGE role in Nintendo's history. I mean we already have our "New Franchise" character already so that shoots down one of his merits.

.
Ike is far more associated with "blue fire" than Chrom is because Ike's title as a hero is literally "the Hero of Blue Flames". Project M even made the fire effects for Eruption be blue in honor of Ike's hero title.

Sorry for being a bit harsh, but we really don't know what's going to happen. Sakurai has basically done nothing but defy expectations and predictions so far with Smash 4. So to say, "Sakurai has done this in the past..." is not going to cut it this time.

At best, we can only look at Sakurai's statements that he has made NOW, and make assessments off of that, but even then Sakurai is proving more erratic than ever.
But why is Sakurai considered "erratic"? Because he didn't meet your expectations for SSB4?

So, because we got Villager and Wii Fit Trainer instead of Ridley, Palutena, Takamaru, and Little Mac to go with Mega Man in the SSB4 trailer, Sakurai is now erratic?

The man added a stick figure and a NES peripheral for crying out loud.

*sigh*

YES. LET'S TALK ABOUT SHULK.

First off, let's clarify this. Is Shulk 1st or 2nd party? (EDIT: ALREADY TAKEN CARE OF. THANKS SCATMAN)

Second, i'm pretty sure Sakurai (at one point) said he wanted to add new series over already represented ones. Or maybe idk wtf i'm talking about.

Regardless, he's awesome and should get a spot. Xenoblade is a great game.

As the residential snark, they are all bark and no bite.
Don't be putting me in that category buddy.

Also, Residential Snark? I see you more as the residential Statue, you're not budged by other's opinions and keep a strong head on your shoulders when discussing things...even if there are indeed times where you come off as an asshole.

To sum it up...and I think this sums up this thread very well...I compare to you to Deadpool in this video...

That and we all know your sig is the best on the site.

Shulk is first party because Nintendo owns the overwhelming shares of Monolithsoft, whereas with other second-party or third-party developers the IP is shared with the developer (examples, Starfy's IP is shared with TOSE, Golden Sun's is shared with Camelot).

Yea I thought he was a first party character.

Let's discuss his chances compared to other characters. What do we think? Does he have a decent shot, or is he pretty much dead in the water?

I think that based on the success of Xenoblade, and the upcoming "X", he would be a great character and has a decent shot. While he is another swordsmen, the Monado is a special weapon that has abilities of it's own, something that none of the other swordsmen have currently in their movesets.

What else?

No. Its not just that. That he is revealing characters that have been hidden for the past three games as a starter (Luigi) or a character that was literally revealed right before the game's release (Olimar) as the first character after the unveil.

Heck, people were also thinking that he was going to show off every veteran confirmation with a software release and that Peach's confirmation would coincide with Super Mario 3D World, yet we got Peach a week or two ago.

Also, looking at the second round of newcomers that is rumored (Little Mac, Mii, Pac-Man), only one of out three of those is a popularly suggested character. Sure Pac-Man has his fans, but he definitely nowhere near the amount of hype that Sonic and Mega Man had. Heck, Pac-Man has far less requests than many, many Nintendo newcomers. He is probably not even within the Top 15 most wanted characters.

A character like Mii is much more a pariah among the Smash Bros. fanbase, with Sakurai going back to Brawl admitting the character would not be something he thought the traditional Smash Bros. fanbase would like to see in.

How about the fact that it was practically the biggest game of the Wii era in terms of separate franchises, and by that I mean not including the likes of Mario, Zelda, and other main Nintendo franchises. It stood out from the norm, it was a fantastic game, and it's so loved by its fans that retailers are trying as hard as they can to restock this game as they know that people will easily buy it. The game was a gem of its era, and I personally believe it's earned a spot in Smash Bros.

Also, I will say that during the DDOS attack, Masahiro Sakurai has made posts on his twitter regarding to Xenoblade Chronicles. The first was about a hand crafted Monado used for a concert, and then having a friendly chat with Tetsuya Takahashi. I will say that there is at least a sense of familiarity in this case, contrary to what others might suggest otherwise.

This. There are plenty of things that are different this time around that should keep this Smash Bros. interesting. Not to mention the method of revealing itself. Sakurai isn't directly revealing things. He's only showing screenshots as it is!

This may be something completely obvious, but it's going directly over my head if it is. What exactly are you referring to?

Also, I saw the Monado. That thing is awesome.

We get a either a Pokemon veteran (Mewtwo) or Sonic in a few weeks. That's going to be incredibly interesting either way. Even if we get someone that should be "obvious" (Jigglypuff or even Mewtwo), its going to upend speculation as far as Pokemon is concerned.

I think a Nintendo Direct is going to happen either in the second or third week of October, so we may get it then.

I say by adding Shulk in Smash Bros., it can help the Xenoblade series garner more attention from the general public.
And if that Twitter is true, I guess I'm sticking with Shulk on the roster.

Why don't we just take everyone in the game, even Mario and Mega Man, and make them all Ike clones!

Shulk is one of the reps for a new franchise in Smash (like Little Mac) that I expect to see.
Little Mac, Shulk, and Mii will do a good job of representing new/important Nintendo IPs.

Maybe Sakurai is having fun at the Smash fanbase's expense... he knows how rabid we can be with the tiniest bit of information relating to Smash. He probably realizes he doesn't even need to say anything much... just let his pictures speak for themselves and occasionally say things that whip us into a frenzy... like with Ridley and Toad.

He is probably tired of people acting like they know how he thinks... so he is now more erratic than before... changing his mind about Villager, adding Wii Fit Trainer, revealing Olimar first, making Luigi a starter character, and revealing Peach instead of Zelda as Miss September (he probably realized that we were seeing a pattern so he decided to shake things up a bit). I don't know what's going on inside Sakurai's mind.

We may not get Zelda for November. A Link Between Worlds is being released in 2014 in Japan, and Sakurai coincided Olimar's reveal with Pikmin 3's Japanese release.

I'd be excited for the reveal of Mewtwo for obvious reasons or a reveal of jigglypuff to quench concerns... Though I am aware of how many people hate him :c And seriously even if mewtwo is somewhat "obvious" his reveal would be HUGE
You don't think Pokemon Trainer would get revealed before Mewtwo?
Unless Sakurai has "revealingcharactersthatwillactuallybuildhypeaphobia" I'd see mewtwo as being an earlier reveal assuming he gets in. As far as next month is concerned I'm just kind of hoping the possible pokemon reveal isn't Lucario... And it's not because I hate him...

PlatinumGames confirmed for Monolith Soft.

Takahashi x Kamiya confirmed
Sorry, not a fan of shipping, thanks though.

I think it's pretty safe to assume that this Smash Bros, for the most part, is about new franchises to add to the ranks of Nintendo's all-star roster. Villager and Wii Fit Trainer are already here, Little Mac, Takamaru and Shulk will most likely follow suit, possibly Miis for customization purposes, but overall, we can easily expect more new franchises. And Wii Fit Trainer doesn't represent newer franchises...she represents Wii Fit.

That's what I was thinking, but I guess Sakurai can shake things up and announce both Mewtwo and Pokemon Trainer in October.
And Sonic. Also Sonic.
My strictly gut feeling is that, as he rendered special status third party characters as unlockable in Brawl, Sakurai will render special status returnee Mewtwo (and Roy, if he's in) unlockable as well. Either way, Pokemon Trainer still gives us discussion fodder, since we'll be able to lay to rest the foolhardy ideas that he'd get three new RELEVANT Pokemon, or three new Pokemon, each from a different generation for the hyuks (but not the idea that we'd get a second female/rival Pokemon Trainer meeting those criteria, unfortunately).

Xenoblade Chronicles is a critically acclaimed game, and was bought by many, many people when it came to the U.S, selling out quickly at Gamestop.

What does Wii Fit Trainer have to do with anything?
