We may not get Zelda for November. A Link Between Worlds is being released in 2014 in Japan, and Sakurai coincided Olimar's reveal with Pikmin 3's Japanese release.

My strictly gut feeling is that, as he rendered special status third party characters as unlockable in Brawl, Sakurai will render special status returnee Mewtwo (and Roy, if he's in) unlockable as well. Either way, Pokemon Trainer still gives us discussion fodder, since we'll be able to lay to rest the foolhardy ideas that he'd get three new RELEVANT Pokemon, or three new Pokemon, each from a different generation for the hyuks (but not the idea that we'd get a second female/rival Pokemon Trainer meeting those criteria, unfortunately).

I think Mewtwo can bring lots of hype for Smash, as I can see that some are losing hype.
Sakurai might decide that 3rd Parties should be announced a head of time, like Mega Man, unless it's just for newcomers.

I wouldn't, I don't think 4th party characters should get in SSB4

Damn, it's weird being out of the Project M forums, my alerts are going off like crazy. Anyway, clones are not necessarily a bad thing. Two characters can have similar movesets and yet play in completely different fashions, largely do to the followups warranted by a moves hitbox trajectories, placement, and knockback. Obviously, Sakurai is probably going through and polishing the Brawl characters for this Brawl/Melee style enviroment, and is more than likely trying to make differences more stark, which is by no means a bad thing. I just wanted to put my input on the clone controversy here. Melee Fox and Falco work as great examples, as do Ganon and Falcon, and to a good extent, Marth and Roy.

It's not the fact of clones that's a problem Noah, it's when a character who has NO REASON to be a clone IS a clone, namely talking about the likes of Ganondorf and Wolf.

For the record, Wolf makes sense.
Your going from a guy who fights in a ship and looks like Fox.
He was a good last minute clone and he made sense.

... I think the level of Wolf's cloniness (which is: hardly at all other then specials) is pretty damn fair to the character. But yeah ganondorf needs to further his decloning process. But keep flame choke... say what you want about Brawl ganon but I ****ing LOVE flame choke.

Needs more Venasaur. But that would be a bit more tolerable as it isn't JUST charizard

I don't dislike clones either, not even the Melee clones like Dr. Mario and Pichu. I would like it if they were Luigified or even "Wolfified", though.

I was more referencing Ganondorf than Wolf, but yes, Ganondorf NEEDS to change...almost completely. And yes, keep Flame Choke, it's actually representative of things Ganondorf does in actual Zelda titles.

Ganon's Warlock Punch should stay, but he should have the option to release the energy from the punch as an electric projectile (dead man's volley) before the punch fully charges.

I like that, I'm just saying that Brawl was definitely not the place Ganon should have been decloned. If you place him in a position where he's both slower and has lost the option to halve the lag, you just destroy the character. :/
I'm viewing this at a Melee/Project M competitive standpoint, SO a character ability to really follow up on something are big to me, something Brawl has really ripped from some.

Project M has Roy. Not trying to influence a greater player count or anything............

You make that sound like a bad thing. I wouldn't be surprised if the new Pokemon Trainer sounds like Red in Pokemon Origins. As for reaction, since Charizard is the one people really care about, I'd say a majority would be find with it, myself included. Also allows for the opportunity to use Mega Charizard.

Might I ask which ones you are referring to? They could be the ones I made. I don't publicly release them unless asked to because I like to have my roster stand out.

I'm fine with Semi-Clones if they are justified.
Link and Toon Link? That's fine.
Mario and Luigi? Okay.
Ness and Lucas? Understandable.
Fox, Falco, and sort of Wolf? Maybe a bit too much, but I understand the reasoning behind it.
Captain Falcon and Ganondorf? No thanks.

I think it's pretty safe to assume that this Smash Bros, for the most part, is about new franchises to add to the ranks of Nintendo's all-star roster. Villager and Wii Fit Trainer are already here, Little Mac, Takamaru and Shulk will most likely follow suit, possibly Miis for customization purposes, but overall, we can easily expect more new franchises. And Wii Fit Trainer doesn't represent newer franchises...she represents Wii Fit.

Oh, Well, then I guess Olimar didn't count as our new franchise for Brawl because it wasn't recent enough. I don't really consider Shulk to be an All-Star or a huge part of Nintendo history. Tons of Nintendo games sell great, better than XenoBlade Chronicles actually. The point is that Wii Fit is newer than Brawl, so she's a new franchise and that's the part Sakurai cares about.

Xenoblade Chronicles is a critically acclaimed game, and was bought by many, many people when it came to the U.S, selling out quickly at Gamestop. What does Wii Fit Trainer have to do with anything?

That would have been a perfect reason to add him if Smash was being developed 3 years ago. My point about Wii Fit Trainer is that we already have a new franchise in Super Smash Brothers.

Well to be more specific, games on the Wii, DS, 3DS, and very very early Wii U.

But if you're "guesting" that Ike isn't returning there is no reason to see Ness, Lucas, R.O.B., Captain Falcon, Mr. Game and Watch, Ice Climbers, and Mega Man. But we already know Mega Man is going to be in the game and there is no reason to remove R.O.B., Captain Falcon, Ice Climbers, Mr. Game and Watch, Ness, and Lucas.
So please don't make us go through the entire recency argument again.

I'm going to be killed for this, but I think Jigglypuff should be replaced by Lucario.
Don't care much for Chrom, but he's okay I guess
If we get a 2nd MS character, I think it'll be Aeron.
I see what you did with Snake, gotta give him the eyepatch
Besides that, I'm fine with it. Be thankful I'm more tolerant with Toon Link than I used to be.
