Or
Man, why is Mew the only one who got less epic with his mega transformation?

Lucario got dread locks and errything. Kind of looks like he got a... cape too?

Hmm.

Uh guys, remember that new form mewtwo got? Apparently it's a new thing called Mega evolution and a number of Pokemon including lucario got it. http://serebii.net/index2.shtml

How do you think it'll play into either of those characters chances and (possibly) movesets?
Hrmmm interesting.... I think it will depend on how Mega Evolutions work. Are they permanent? Can you switch between a Mega Evolution and a regular evolution? If they are permanent it is possible for Mewtwo to come back as a new comer under the guise of MegaMewtwo, perhaps the same for Lucario so as to technically have 2 "new" Pokemon while keeping everyone happy at the same time. While if they are switchable it is still possible for both to technically get labled as newcomers due to the new forms and still please everyone in the process, for the most part, or they could get put as Final Smashes and come back as vets which wouldn't make everyone happy.

Still up Peach's dress.
^ Well. That's a point in Lucario's favour as well then. This is going to be interesting. None for Zoroark or Genesect yet though. Does this mean Blaziken's going to get more support?

On the subject of Toad I find the 'you could replace him with anything and have the same game' discussion a tiny bit pointless after all in a lot of Mario games you can opt to play as Luigi instead of Mario(and I often do seeing as how he's usually better at jumping if there's a difference in abilities), and nothing in that game changes either; Luigi will destroy Bowser instead of Mario and get a kiss from Peach at the end. Or a cake.

Yes; replacing Toad with a Koopa Troopa wouldn't alter much, but changing Mario with Luigi doesn't change a lot either; Super Luigi Bros. U showed that if you take Mario out of his own game, it still feels the same.

I'm aware it's a weak argument, but the point is it IS Toad you encounter, therefore he is more important than a Koopa Troopa, a Goomba or a Shyguy who don't get the same screen time, aren't as important to the series overall as characters and as far as I'm aware none of them have starred in either their own game or in a Mario platformer as a playable character.

Now EVERY possible SSB4 Pokemon characters are going to have Mega Evolutions, and it will just end up being really annoying, on the other hand don't they look FREAKIN EPIC?!
i highly doubt that'll be the case - we don't even know how they work yet, and i couldn't see GF making them the end-all Best Things Ever.

I am hoping more people will now shut up about Lucario being cut. As I said a few weeks earlier, I think Lucario is safer than most people think. Or at the very least he is safer than Snake, Sonic, Ike, and Toon Link.

This probably will decrease the amount of people clamoring for Lucario to be cut, but yeah, it won't be able to eliminate it.

Now people will just start supporting Blaziken again.

All I know is that if people start trying to say Blaziken offers something unique, over something else, imma throw Falcon in their face and call it a day. e_e

Yeah, I know it would not eliminate it, just make less people say he should/will be cut. Lucario at least has the benefit of still being promoted within the Pokemon franchise, and has no obvious successor to his moveset like Toon Link/Ike do, or has to go through legal wrangling like Snake/Sonic.

The thing about Snake and Sonic is their inclusion is pretty black or white. Like, if Sakurai aims to include them, they're going to be given priority over the majority of the roster, they won't be ending up on the chopping block, or he just won't bother with them from the get-go. That's why I have trouble including them with the other characters that might make it or might not, they really are in a different situation, even if the outcome is similar.

Am I incorrect, or is there no Tetra thread?
Correct, but there is a Toon Zelda thread in which Tetra is discussed.

Yeah, if Snake and/or Sonic are "planned" they won't suffer from the possibility of time constraints. Its the matter of even whether Sakurai (or Konami/Sega) wants them back. I see Sega as more eager to see Sonic return in Smash 4 than Kojima is in regards to Snake.

While I agree with you Chrono, I wouldn't be so quick to say Kojima wouldn't be excited about Snake. If Metal Gear had ended (I THOUGHT IT WAS OVER) maybe it would be, but with Metal Gear Solid 5 coming out and Raiden Slashes Watermelons: The Game released just to boot, there's for sure still interest in the character. It's hard to say in regards to Smash though, whether he just wanted Snake in once, but I can easily see him (and Sakurai, for that matter) being excited to put him in again.

I'm personally hoping both third-parties return. I said this with Brawl about Snake and I'll say it here with Mega-Man: Having only one third-party would be highly disappointing.

This is something that I'm surprisingly okay with. Was always a closet Blaziken supporter myself.
It's funny how well Blaziken fits the good Captain's moveset. I still think Blaziken's time has passed, but yeah, his inclusion wouldn't bother me.

I think we all have our characters we don't speak aloud about supporting. I know I have a few.
Indeed, I'd bring up my support for Krystal more often if the pepper (and several others) didn't grump all over the place whenever she's brought up.

BTW Is someone going to make Roster Maker Icons for the Mega Evolutions?
I'm sure once we get better quality pictures of them someone will.

The Megaforms look more like something for Final Smashes rather than a transforming special move.

I can imagine that, even if Lucario's Final Smash remains the same, he could still transform into Mega Lucario for aesthetic purposes.

Mewtwo could unleash Psystrike instead.

If they announce Mega Charizard it probably means nothing. Yeah, for Mewtwo and Lucario it might do something (and we're still playing with "Might's") but Mega Charizard would probably have to accompany with Mega Bulbasaur and Mega Squirtle

Can't wait until October. The two big releases of that month are Sonic Lost World and Pokemon X/Y. Sonic or any Pokemon veteran (including Mewtwo in this as well) being confirmed is going to get lots of sighs of relief (even Jigglypuff).

I have no idea which veteran will be confirmed in September. Crossing my fingers for someone like Ness, Marth, or Captain Falcon though.

I don't think we should assume there's a pattern that newly announced characters are tied to game releases, nor that there will be a character reveal once per month...

I don't think every reveal will be tied to promotion, some characters just won't have upcoming games to promote, but obviously promotion does play no small part in when some characters get confirmed. I highly doubt Olimar and Luigi would be the first post-E3 reveals if promotion didn't play a role.

I agree that we probably will deviate from the once-a-month pattern eventually, but I'd be surprised if we didn't stick to it at least for the remainder of the year (though who knows with October, lots of stuff happening around then).

I'm just going to say, they reeeeeally jumped the shark this time. I felt a bit of something die in me reading about the MegaEvolutions, but then I saw MegaBlaziken and thought "I'm okay with this".

Yeah. I've had my doubts for Lucario before, but this is pretty much making it clear to me that Game Freak isn't letting Lucario die out any time soon, at least not before Zoroark.

The only real question remains as to who will take higher priority in being added, Mewtwo or Lucario, and if we actually will have time for both this time.

If promotion is a thing then Toon Link could be revealed on the release of Wind Waker HD, then again, he was an unlockable character. Then again, so was Luigi, than again, it was the year of Luigi, then again it's Wind Waker's tenth anniversary this year, at least for the west. I guess we will just have to wait and see with the whole promotion thing. :/

After Yoshi's New Island, I can't see any more veteran confirmations tied to new software releases.

Its pretty much something that will only happen for the remainder of this year (and once again next year once Yoshi's New Island is released).

I really am curious what happens with "child" Link this time. I am also curious what the A Link Between Worlds Link will be named if he does happen to get in. The new official art for him was shown for the latest Nintendo Direct, and he looked like a cross between Young Link and Toon Link. His proportions are more similar to Young Link though.

If Sakurai does use this design, I could easily see him getting differing specials involving the magic hammer and the fire rod.
