Perhaps you should research Genesect more, considering you made that first claim without anything to back yourself up.

Just because a Pokémon had a movie doesn't mean it is "crazy popular". Need I bring up Zoroark, who ultimately failed to achieve the same success of popularity that Lucario did?

Why do people keep bringing this back to the movie? Just because there is a movie with Genesect doesn't make it the only reason. He's been popular in Japan before that.

I find nothing in common between Kirby and Jigglypuff except that they are pink, small and round.

Then you clearly don't play as them.

Or Lucario and Mewtwo if you think they have similar movesets just because Shadow Ball and Aura Sphere are used in the same way (aside from Lucario's becoming stronger the more damage it takes while Mewtwo's is at a constant strength, and Lucario's firing at a linear path while Mewtwo's flies in a zig-zag pattern).

Zoroark could be an excellent character if they gave it a chance. To be honest, of any Gen 5 pokemon, it's the one I want the most. And also, it's not like Zoroark isn't still being advertised, which it is, as it's showed up in several X/Y promotional videos, also including the first-ever time to catch actual Zorua/Zoroarks in Gen 6, not to mention a recent appearance in the anime. It's quite clear that the Pokemon Company hasn't forgotten about Zoroark.

Edit: Also, Jigglypuff does have similarities to Kirby.

They both jump the same style, have the same down air, back air and forward Smash.

Yep. Mewtwo was cut late into development due to time constraints. And they are not similar. There was a video posted long ago about the similarities between them. Only the B special and the Forward Smash were the same.

Alright. But I honest hate the way Zoroark looks. How would his special work? If two players choose the same character/color, it isn't all that hard to determine which is which. But if he randomly transformed that may work.

Because that's not how things work.
No Pokémon is added solely on the basis of being "new".
And who would be added, anyway? All we have are a bunch of random 'mons and Sylveon, who doesn't seem like something that would interest Sakurai.
By the way, Sakurai knows as much about the 6th Gen as we do at this point, so it's not like he knows of some uber epic 6th Gen that's perfect for Smash and will be one that will be heavily promoted and popular.
Chances are, we're not getting a 6th Gen (unless Mewtwo's alternate form counts). Especially since it's heavily likely Sakurai "finalized" the roster last year like he did with Brawl's a year before the first trailer.

Well, what I do? Get the entirety of Genesect fans from around the world and bring them here? How do you prove something is popular. I see lots of people talk about Genesect on the internet, dress up at cons, I see him promoted by Pokemon through merchandise more so than others. I've heard others say he is too. I didn't add him because of the movie, that's only the icing on the cake. If I wanted to add someone because of recency I would have added a gen 6 rep.

The thing about that, though. If you're going to replace a character, you should be replacing their moveset, not their series' representation. This is a video game. Gameplay comes first, my friend. Without someone to be able to transition to, like Young Link players did with Toon Link, having a character dropped out for a character without a similar playstyle is dangerous grounds.

My idea is being able to look like you're using moves you're not. For example, through some sort of mechanic, charge up a Down-Smash when it looks like you're charging up a Side-Smash, luring the opponent into some deadly attacks. It'd be a good way to transition Illusion from the Pokemon games into Smash Bros., I think.

Maybe you should research him more. No offense, but if you continue to call me out for having Genesect because of recency and just refuse to see things otherwise I have no reason to continue this with you. It's kind of annoying.

I've never seen this "Crazy Popular" Genesect anywhere. Where is your proof? Saying something does not lead to the truth unless you can back it up. There is nothing for Genesect other than recency, yet you keep saying their are other factors, but there just aren't. That is why I keep mentioning relevancy, because that is Genesect's defining and only factor to give him any merit worth being included and you have yet to prove any other factors that it has that make it worthy of being included into the game.

Also I'm aware the 2 were suppose to co exist in Brawl. I know all about the 7.

Because if we use Smashboards as a reference, the majority just wants Mewtwo. Nothing more than that.

Sounds like an interesting mechanic.
If Zoroark ends up being a Pokeball Pokemon, she should be released as a completely different Pokemon (Goldeen comes to mind). So while everyone is thinking it's just a Goldeen, it uses Night Daze and surrounding area gets engulfed in a dark explosion. After it uses the move it would reveal itself to be Zoroark, taunt at the players, and then leave.
Seems like something that would add to the randomness factor Sakurai is fond of for Smash, essentially making Zoroark the troll Pokeball Pokemon for SSB4.

Unfortunately it should be noted that video content can and may change between now and the games' release so there's no guarantee that Zorua/Zoroark will be available in the games. Sucks too, I liked using Zorua...

As for the anime, I wonder why they took so long to get to Zoroark. Zorua appeared long before it and N debuted a few months before it too, it's odd that they just pushed it aside for so long considering it was still a premier Gen 5 Pokémon.

I personally think we may be getting a new character/veteran in this upcoming Nintendo Direct or later in the week considering that

A) Two months ago on the 11th, we saw the first trailer for SSb4 plus WFT was released shortly after said trailer.
B) One month ago on the 11th, Pikmin and Olimar was announced.

If pattern holds to be true, we may see a new character sometime this week. Of course, patterns can be broken or even not exist officially. I am hoping to what hope I have that we get a new character reveal this week.

What do you do?
You don't make claims you are unable to prove. Simple as that.

You can claim that Genesect is the "hot topic" Pokémon as well as Mewtwo because they were featured in the latest movie.
You can claim that Genesect has popularity, because it does. If it didn't, it wouldn't be discussed in a positive light by people or ....have people cosplay as it....(not sure if that point really matters in terms of Smash...).

But to say Genesect is "crazy popular" in a region that you can't really verify for yourself is not a claim you can make.
That's where we get claims like "Jigglypuff was the most popular Pokémon in Japan".

Nintendo Direct coming up very soon. What are we predicting in terms of character reveals? Veterans? Newcomers? Nobody at all?

My money is on Yoshi, Peach, and/or Zelda for veterans. Either Little Mac as a newcomer or no new reveals at all.

I don't think they'd waste a Direct on a veteran. Veterans you can reveal with pictures, but newcomers we know they'll have videos for.

We don't, and I feel they aren't. Essentially, one of the supposed "leakers" from gamefaqs made a bunch of claims, and said the next reveal would be a pokemon character, so lots of people are waiting to see if that happens before giving credibility to this guy.

Heck, to be honest, even if the next reveal were a pokemon character, I'd just chalk it up to good guess as opposed to it being an actual leak.

@ IsmaR: yea, you're right, forgot Nintendo doesn't do Tokyo. Wait, but there's something in the fall where they announce games ... isn't there?

It might as well be, nintendo hasnt taken part in it for years and they will more than likely follow suit once more. They are better off with ND's or their own showings anyway which they will probably end up doing, it also saves them plenty of dough.
